Garden bench with storage

Updated: 22 October 2026

You want the cushions and a coil of hose off the patio, and somewhere to sit while you take your boots off. A garden bench with storage, in this amazon.co.uk set, is the Keter Eden: a resin box with a lid, a 265 litre claim, and room for two people who are not trying to lean back. Graphite is £139. The beige wood-effect colour is £162.50. Both pages print 4.4 from 14,228 reviews and the same review text. The other nine benches stay on the [garden bench comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/garden-bench). Peter F. used those listings from 21 October 2026, Keter's UK size page and the Eden manual, and did not fill a box with water. A box you sit on, not a bench you lean on

The Eden has no back and no arms. The listing sells it as two seats. Reviews in the shared text call that lid usable for two, and they talk about tools and cushions going inside, not about an afternoon with a book. If your search started because the old wooden bench had a back you miss, this is the wrong object even though the review count is the largest number in the folder. The order of that choice, before you pick a colour, is the garden bench buying guide. The stated load is 250 kg. That is a seller figure, not a licence to stand on the lid. The Eden manual says not to stand on it. One buyer in the shared reviews had seat bolts break. Children should not play inside. Nothing hot, flammable or corrosive belongs in there.

The size that survives the listing

Keter's UK page for the grey 265 litre bench states 140 cm wide, 60 cm deep and 84 cm high outside, and about 128 x 50 x 38 cm inside, at 13.4 kg. Argos lists the same external 140 x 60 x 84 cm. Those lines agree with the beige amazon rows in this file. Measure your patio against 140 cm of width and 60 cm of depth before you care about the colour. A 140 cm box will not tuck into a 120 cm gap beside a door. The graphite amazon file does not keep one size. Rows include 50 x 128 x 38 cm, 84 x 140 x 60 cm, and a bullet of 132.5 x 75 x 18.5 cm. The 18.5 cm figure is not the height of the bench. Quote Keter's 140 x 60 x 84 cm, or measure the carton when it arrives.

Rain, the lid and the lock

The title says all-weather, fade-free and, on the wider claim, waterproof. The bullet says the box stays ventilated and dry. UK reviews in the shared text split. Some say the box stayed dry. Others say rain entered in the first hour, or that water on the lid runs inside when the lid is opened wet. The manual's line is the one to follow: after rain, wipe the lid before you open it. That is a habit, not a proof that every seam is a tank. The lock is a hasp. Keter's UK page says the bench is lockable and that the lock is not included. Reviews mention the hasps and a padlock you add yourself. The hasp is not a lock that arrived in the box.

Graphite or beige

Graphite and light grey is £139 in this capture, model 241518, listed weight 13.4 kg. Beige and brown wood-effect is £162.50, model 226277, listed weight 15.8 kg. The gap is £23.50. Both titles mention a two-year warranty. Both print 4.4 from 14,228, and the review text matches. You are buying the panel colour, not a second test. Rain, warped parts and broken seat bolts are in one pool. Treat those faults as reports about this product family, not as a colour ranking. Sales rank is not a drier lid. If you want a back instead, the picks are on best garden bench. Wiping the lid is on how to maintain a garden bench.

Common questions

Is a storage bench a substitute for a bench with a back?
No. The Eden is a box you sit on, sold for two, with no back and no arms. Reviews call the lid usable for a short sit and praise the space for cushions and tools. They do not describe a long lean. If that lean is the reason you are replacing an old bench, use a backed row on the main comparison. Use the Eden when the storage is the job and the seat is a bonus.
How big is the Eden outside and inside?
Keter's UK page states 140 x 60 x 84 cm outside and about 128 x 50 x 38 cm inside, with a 265 litre claim and a product weight of 13.4 kg for the grey bench. The beige amazon rows agree on the external size. Measure the patio for 140 cm by 60 cm. The litre figure is the seller's volume. A long tool can still fail to fit a 50 cm internal depth.
Why do the amazon dimension lines disagree?
The graphite listing prints more than one size, including a bullet of 132.5 x 75 x 18.5 cm. That 18.5 cm line is not a credible height next to the 84 cm on Keter's own page and on the beige listing. The beige file is consistent at about 140 x 60 x 84 cm. Use the maker's external size, or measure the box you receive. Do not average the conflicting rows into a new number.
Does the lid keep cushions dry?
Sometimes, in the reviews, and not always. Some UK comments say the storage stayed dry. Others say rain got in quickly, or ran off a wet lid onto the contents. The manual says to wipe the lid after rain before you open it. The title's all-weather wording does not cancel those reports. Store things you can afford to find damp, and do not open the lid while it is wet.
Is the padlock included?
The hasp is part of the bench. Keter's UK page says you can lock it and that the lock is not included. Reviews talk about fitting a padlock, not about finding one in the carton. If the path is public enough that you care, buy a padlock that fits. The hasp alone does not lock the cushions in.
