Beer bench slipcover or waterproof cover

Updated: 22 October 2026

A white three-piece set at £13.29 and a coated shell at £30.99 are not two grades of one beer bench cover, even when both pages say waterproof. A slipcover dresses the table and the benches for the afternoon. A weather shell covers the standing set and stays out. Prices for the five listings are on the [beer bench cover comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/beer-bench-cover). The Products Compared editorial team read the amazon.co.uk files from 19 October 2026 and did not spray-test a cloth. What you can expect from a slip set

A slip set here is light polyester, three pieces, for spills and a wash afterwards. WedDecor and Trimming Shop are both white, both 170 gsm, both £13.29, with bullets of 220 x 50 x 70 cm for the table and 220 x 25 x 46 cm for each bench. Trimming Shop says the bench cloths suit a bench about 48 cm high, and machine wash at 30°C. It does not state a water rating. WedDecor's field says waterproof, next to bullets about spills, with no millimetre figure, and the care field says hand wash only. Noor at £12.60 is flat cloth at 220 x 65 cm and 220 x 87 cm, with no water field. None of them states a hem cord. The decision order is the beer bench cover buying guide.

What you can expect from a shell

A shell is one cover over the standing set. YedZen at £30.99 states 600D Oxford, a PVC coating, 230 x 130 x 75 cm, a strap, a drawstring, four loops, two side vents and two handles. The seller states 5000 mm and 99% UV. This site did not repeat those figures. Care is wipe or rinse and air dry, not a 30°C wash. ANEELV at £32.71 states 420D with a PU coating, a drawstring, buckles, a belt and mesh vents. The title says waterproof and 220 x 120 x 75 cm. The field says water resistant, and another field says 2.3 x 1.2 x 0.75 m. How to pull the cord in is on how to fit a beer bench cover.

The words that cause the mix-up

Gsm here is cloth weight, 170 grams per square metre. Denier, 600D or 420D, is a yarn count. It does not mean the cloth is waterproof. Read the coating next: PVC on YedZen, PU on ANEELV. Air has to leave once a cover stays on, or the wood stays damp. ANEELV says waterproof in the title and water resistant in the field, with no millimetre number. WedDecor says waterproof while the bullets describe stains. YedZen's 5000 mm line stays the seller's claim. Do not copy it onto the £13.29 sets. Width and height are on the 220 cm beer bench cover page.

When neither of those is the purchase

Print Pioneer UK sells a printed sleeve, 220 x 25 x 45 cm, at £41.80, described as decorative. A B1 line on that page is not a fire certificate for these shells, and the sleeve does not cover the table. Choose the slip set when the cloth comes off the same day, and Trimming Shop's wash line if the benches are near 48 cm. Choose a shell when the set stays outside, matched to a measured footprint rather than to 600D versus 420D. Paying £31 does not upgrade a party cloth. Paying £13 does not buy a smaller shell.

Common questions

Is the white set a cheaper shell?
No. WedDecor and Trimming Shop are three polyester cloths at £13.29 and 170 gsm. A shell here is one coated cover at £30.99 or £32.71 with a hem fastening. Waterproof on WedDecor's field does not make the white set a winter cover.
What does 600D add that 170 gsm does not?
They are labels on different families. 170 gsm is the party cloth weight. 600D is the yarn count YedZen states on an Oxford shell that also claims a PVC coating. Denier does not turn a 170 gsm cloth into a shell.
Why does ANEELV say both waterproof and water resistant?
The title and the specification field do not match. The title says waterproof. The field says water resistant. No millimetre figure is given. YedZen's 5000 mm line is a different listing and does not fill that gap.
Can I leave a polyester slipcover on all winter?
These listings do not support that. The party sets have no stated hem cord and no vents, and Trimming Shop does not claim a water rating. A winter job is the shell, with the wood dry and the vents clear.
Is a printed sleeve a third option?
Yes, and it only covers the bench. Print Pioneer's cloth is about 220 x 25 x 45 cm at £41.80. It is not a shell and it is not a three-piece set. Do not use it when the table has to stay dry.
Do I still need vents if the cloth is coated?
Yes, if the cover stays on. A coating sheds rain and also slows moisture leaving the inside. YedZen states two side vents and ANEELV states mesh vents. The party sets do not list vents because they are not left on for weeks.
