Best floor protection mat UK

Updated: 21 October 2026

A single best floor protection mat UK does not exist in this basket, because the listings are not doing one job. A 4.5-star splat mat is not a better chair mat than a 4.2-star PVC sheet. You want a short list: who each kept product is for, and who should leave it. Prices and stars below are amazon.co.uk shelf figures on 19 October 2026, from the [floor protection mat comparison](/hub/flooring/floor-protection-mat). If you have not yet chosen chair, machine, tiles, or splash, use the [floor protection mat buying guide](/hub/flooring/floor-protection-mat/sub/floor-protection-mat-buying-guide) first. A top pick only fits one job

The top pick in this set, for a large hard-floor desk, is the Marvelux. It is clear PVC, 120 × 150 cm and 0.2 cm thick, at £66.99, rated 4.4 from 339 reviews. Buyers who had returned cheaper mats say the chair glides and the wood stays unmarked. It is the wrong buy if your roll fits inside 75 × 120 cm, if you want grey rather than clear, or if the floor is carpet, heated, or lacquered. Some copies still arrive rolled and need weight overnight. Best value is a different condition. For a smaller desk and light use, that is the SHAREWIN at £19.99, 75 × 120 cm, 4.2 from 10,541 reviews. The same file repeats smell, sliding, a thin feel, and ends that curl, and shoppers say the photograph looks larger than the sheet. Call it best value only when 75 × 120 cm covers the roll and a curled rim for a day or two is acceptable.

Hard-floor chair mats in this set

Stay with clear or grey PVC if the floor is wood, laminate, vinyl, tile, or stone, and the listing says it is not for carpet. The AS mat is £19.99 and 3.8 from 20 reviews. The size name, bullets at 76 × 122 cm, and a 7 × 7 cm table do not agree. Skip it if you want one agreed size. The WASJOYE is 90 × 120 cm at £22.60, 4.5 from 58 reviews. The style line says 1.7 mm and the dimension line says 0.2 cm, and a raised edge was tripped over. Buy it only if you will weight the corners before anyone walks the rim. How that wait works is on the how to lay a chair mat page. The BesWin is grey PVC at the same size, £27.99, stated 2.0 mm, with a rubber back, 4.4 from 84 reviews. Prefer it when you want the size without a thickness clash. A heat-resistant line is not approval for underfloor heating.

If you want a rug, not a plastic sheet

The Homcomodar is a grey polyester mat, 90 × 120 cm, at £18.99, rated 4.4 from 224 reviews. Reviewers say the claimed silica-gel back holds on tile and wood, the chair rolls, and the mat washes. It looks like a rug, which is the point if a clear sheet bothers you. It creeps on carpet, fold creases show, and a dimension line of 10 × 5 × 5 cm conflicts with the stated size. Thickness is not stated. Use it on a hard floor. It will not solve a lacquered or heated floor.

Gym sheet, tiles, and a splat mat

Under a machine, the AbiHaven is a 6 mm black PVC sheet, 152 × 76 cm, at £21.99, with a stated load of 150 kg. It is 4.0 from nine reviews. Two say it does not fit a normal treadmill. Buy it only after you have measured. That footprint is on the floor protection mat for a home gym page. The Flatro is six 60 × 60 × 1 cm EVA tiles at £22.99, and the joints come apart. The REALIKE is twelve 60 cm tiles at £44.99, 4.4 from 311 reviews. UK reviews put the foam nearer 9 mm than 12.7 mm. The WOMUMON, 130 × 130 cm at £14.99, is 4.5 from 5,526 reviews of a splat mat. It washes and stains, and it is not a castor surface.

Common questions

Which mat if you hate the look of clear plastic?
The BesWin is grey PVC with a woven look, 90 × 120 cm, at £27.99. The Homcomodar is a grey polyester rug style at £18.99, better when you want to wash it, worse if you need a known thickness. Both are hard-floor products in the reviews that support them. Neither hides a curl on day one if the copy you receive is a thin one.
Which mat under a treadmill?
Only the AbiHaven is an equipment sheet in this set, at 152 × 76 cm and 6 mm. Use it when your measured footprint, including where you stand, fits inside that rectangle. Two of nine reviews say it misses a normal treadmill. A 2 mm chair mat is the wrong tool under the belt.
Which tiles if you want a garage bay?
The REALIKE twelve-pack covers more floor than the Flatro six-pack, at £44.99 against £22.99. Take the REALIKE only if you can accept UK reviews that put the foam nearer 9 mm than the listing. Take the Flatro for a smaller patch, and check that the joints stay closed and the tile count matches the order.
Which mat under a high chair?
The WOMUMON, 130 × 130 cm at £14.99. Reviewers use it for weaning, the silicone dots hold, and it machine-washes. It stains, which is what a splat mat is for. Do not put an office chair on it and expect a castor surface.
Who should not buy any PVC listing here?
Skip them if you sit full days, the room has underfloor heating, the wood is lacquered, or the room regularly sits under about 15°C. UK chair-mat suppliers point those floors to polycarbonate, and none of these ASINs is that sheet. Also skip PVC if you need a carpet grip. Studded carpet mats are outside this set.
