Turkey flag buying guide

Updated: 20 October 2026

You are about to buy a Turkey flag in the UK, and the page in front of you may be a 5 ft by 3 ft print, a 15 cm desk flag, or a string of thirty small flags. This turkey flag buying guide is the check before you pay: format first, then proportion, eyelets, and whether the review text is actually about Turkey. The [Turkey flag comparison](/hub/flags/turkey-flag) holds the nine amazon.co.uk listings kept on 19 October 2026, from about £4.99 to about £9.99. We read those listings and the public UK sources named here. We did not fly or wash the cloth. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the job, not the brand

The first split is the object, not the star line. A large printed flag in this set is about 90 cm by 150 cm, sold as 3 ft by 5 ft or 5 ft by 3 ft, with no garden pole in the box. That is the cloth for a wall, a balcony rail, or a pole you already own. The AZ FLAG listing is 15 cm by 10 cm, with a black plastic stick and base, and the page says indoor use. The BigTree string is thirty flags of about 14.5 cm by 22.5 cm on a 10 m tape. It has no eyelets and no pole. A desk flag on a garden is a postcard-sized cloth. Bunting on a staff is a party string. Flag Superstore lists a 5 ft by 3 ft polyester Turkey flag at £4.99 with two metal eyelets, and The Flagman lists a 5 by 3 at £7.99. Those prices are shop pages, not the amazon.co.uk shelf. Which listing fits a wall, a desk, or a party is on the best Turkey flag page.

5×3 is the UK size, 2:3 is the legal drawing

Turkish Flag Law No. 2893, in the English summary used here, sets the fly at one and a half times the hoist. That is a 2:3 flag: if the hoist is 90 cm, the fly is 135 cm, not 150 cm. A UK 5 ft by 3 ft flag is about 150 cm by 90 cm, which is 3:5. Buy 5 by 3 for the usual UK garden size beside other 5 by 3 flags. Buy 2:3 from a flag maker when the proportion itself matters. Flagmakers describes a Turkey flag at 2:3 and mentions PMS 186 C and a sewn 155 gsm option. None of the nine amazon.co.uk listings states PMS 186 C, and none is sold as a sewn 2:3 flag. AhfuLife titles 150 cm by 90 cm while the dimension line says 21 cm by 14 cm, and the model number contains toothpickflag. YAAVAAW has the same split. Runesol is the large flag whose 91 cm by 152 cm lines agree. Check the centimetres on the page before you argue about 2:3.

Eyelets, cloth, and what is not in the box

Two brass eyelets on the hoist are the usual printed flag. Woiltryn, BigTree’s large flag, and Storm & Lighthouse follow that pattern. Runesol states four brass eyelets, one in each corner, if you want the cloth tied landscape or portrait. RockParty states brass grommets, and one review found only one hole at the top. Count the holes when the parcel arrives. Only the AZ FLAG desk set includes a stick, and that stick is a short plastic pole with a base. Cloth on these pages is printed polyester, from 30 g on the AhfuLife listing to 80 g on RockParty. That is the whole flag’s listed weight, not a grams-per-square-metre figure. Double-sided is stated for Woiltryn, AhfuLife’s title, and RockParty. Care is uneven: AZ FLAG says 30°C, RockParty says hand wash and air dry, AhfuLife says a damp cloth, and BigTree’s large flag says only iron. Woiltryn gives no care line. How the hoist meets the support is on how to hang a Turkey flag.

A plain national flag in England

In England, GOV.UK’s flying-flags guide says any country’s national flag can be flown without advertisement consent when the standard conditions are met and you add no extra advertising. Those conditions are the owner’s permission, a safe condition, and not hiding a transport sign. A black mourning ribbon is allowed where you cannot half-mast. One staff normally carries one flag. Two consent-free flags may share a staff, and if one is the Union Flag it flies in the superior position. That is the easy case for a plain Turkey flag on a house you have permission to use. A new ground pole is a separate question, especially in Scotland, where flag flying sits outside advertisement control but a new pole may still need planning permission. Northern Ireland’s Flags Regulations 2000 govern government buildings, not a private house. A slogan or a club badge takes you out of the plain-flag case. Hanging a finished flag on a bracket that is already there is the household job.

What to ignore in the star count

AhfuLife’s 4.7 from 8,312 and Runesol’s 4.6 from 9,944 are the published listing totals. In the samples that were read, those reviews name a Union Jack, a Welsh flag, a Remembrance flag, a D-Day flag, and a Yorkshire Day flag. They are not a count of people who flew this Turkey flag. AZ FLAG’s 4.1 from 6,452 is a table-flag pool. Woiltryn’s 4.7 from 694 is more useful on size and eyelets, and even that file includes a Jamaican flag used as a drape. Use the stars as a rough seller signal, then read whether the text matches the object. A 4.7 with a 21 cm dimension line is a weaker buy than a 4.6 whose 90 cm and 150 cm lines agree. Storm & Lighthouse is 4.1 from 34, with five reviews in the notes, including one that calls the cloth plastic. That is too small a sample to treat as a test.

Common questions

Is 5 ft by 3 ft the official Turkish flag?
No. Law 2893, in the English summary used here, sets the fly at one and a half times the hoist, a 2:3 flag. A 5 ft by 3 ft cloth is about 150 cm by 90 cm, which is 3:5. Buy 5 by 3 for the usual UK garden size. Buy 2:3 from a flag maker when you need the legal drawing. These amazon.co.uk prints do not state that proportion.
Do I need a pole in the parcel?
Only if you are buying the AZ FLAG desk set. That listing includes a short plastic stick and a black base for indoor use. None of the large flags here includes a garden pole. If you do not already have a rail, a rope, or a bracket, the cloth will not hang itself.
Should I choose two eyelets or four?
Two on the hoist suit a pole or a rope. Four, one in each corner, suit a flat hang in either direction. Runesol is the four-eyelet listing in this set, at about £5.79. RockParty’s bullets say grommets, and one review found a single hole, so count them on arrival rather than trusting the title alone.
Can I fly a Turkey flag in England without advertisement consent?
GOV.UK’s guide says a plain national flag of any country can be flown in England without advertisement consent when you add no extra advertising and you meet the standard conditions: the owner’s permission, a safe condition, and no hidden transport signs. A new pole, a listed building, or a slogan on the cloth is a different question.
Why do some review counts name other countries’ flags?
Several of these amazon.co.uk pages share one review pool across many national flags. AhfuLife’s 8,312 and Runesol’s 9,944 are listing totals. The samples include a Union Jack, a Welsh flag, and other countries’ days. Do not read those numbers as Turkey-only testimony.
Is a £5 polyester flag the same cloth as a sewn flag?
No. The large flags kept here are printed polyester listed between 30 g and 80 g for the whole flag, at about £4.99 to £5.99. A maker’s sewn flag, such as the 155 gsm option Flagmakers describes, is a different cloth and a different job. There is no sewn-flag price on these amazon.co.uk pages.
Is a desk flag a substitute for a garden flag?
No. The AZ FLAG is 15 cm by 10 cm and the listing says indoor use. A garden or window needs the large format, about 90 cm by 150 cm, and you still supply the pole. The 10 m bunting is a third object, for a hall or a party string, not for a staff.
