Tile stickers for renters on a painted wall

Updated: October 2026

You are a tenant, the emulsion is tired, and a pack that says removable looks easy to undo before inspection. Tile stickers for renters in this amazon.co.uk set are still adhesive film. This is not advice on your contract. Pattern choice stays on the [buying guide](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/tile-stickers/sub/tile-stickers-buying-guide). Prices are on the [tile stickers comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/tile-stickers). This page is from the Products Compared editorial team. Deposit wording is from GOV.UK’s tenancy deposit protection page, and peel notes are from the amazon.co.uk listings on 16 October 2026. A qualifying purchase through our links can earn a commission.

What the listings say about removal

The category is not one promise. The Moroccan listing says the sheets can be removed with no residue. Fantasnight says no residue, and an attribute line also says single use. Alwayspon’s red, dark brown and herringbone listings say removable, and the square packs add renter friendly. Tile Style, Amoyun, WoStick, Hode and TOFFCAEA do not state a removal result you can treat as settled. One TOFFCAEA review, inside 13 ratings, says a rental wall will not be damaged. A friendly bullet is a description. If the goods miss it, section 11 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is between you and the seller. That claim does not bind your landlord. Silence is not a hidden promise of a clean wall.

What happened to painted walls

Reviews of Tile Style, WoStick, Fantasnight and herringbone describe paint or plaster coming away, including a rental splashback on the first adjustment and sheets that needed a scraper after two weeks. The shared Alwayspon red and dark brown sequence includes paint peeled when a sheet was repositioned. That sequence is one block, not a separate proof for each colour. The lift often happens during fitting, when you slide a crooked sheet, not only on move-out day. Gel grabs harder than a thin transfer. Test one sheet where a mark is tolerable, and peel it the next day. A test that takes paint is the answer for the rest of that emulsion. The only stated wait here is the Moroccan seller’s line of at least three weeks after painting, and that wait still does not promise a clean peel.

Deposit schemes

Paint on the back of the sheet is the dispute. GOV.UK says that in England and Wales an assured periodic tenancy’s deposit goes into a government-approved scheme. Those tenancies replaced assured shorthold tenancies on 1 May 2026. The schemes named on that page are the Deposit Protection Service and mydeposits. The landlord has 30 days to protect the deposit. You should get it back if you do not damage the property. Once the amount is agreed, the return is within 10 days. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own schemes. The text used here does not define fair wear and tear, so this guide will not invent the line. Missing emulsion where a sticker was is the sort of mark a checkout can call damage. A renter-friendly bullet does not decide the sum.

Before you stick

Ask the landlord or the agent before the first sheet. A tenancy can forbid alterations even when the pack says removable. Keep the answer. If the answer is no, leave the film in the drawer. If the answer is yes, test one sheet, wait, and peel it before you cover the room. The three-week paint figure is the Moroccan listing only. Soft paint leaves with the adhesive. The pulls that start in fitting are on how to apply tile stickers. None of these packs is a deposit promise. Stop if you cannot accept a repaint.

Common questions

Will peel-and-stick tiles come off a rented wall cleanly?
You cannot count on it. Moroccan and Fantasnight say no residue, Alwayspon says removable, and several other packs say nothing.
What does a tenancy deposit scheme actually protect?
In England and Wales, GOV.UK says the deposit for an assured periodic tenancy sits in an approved scheme. The landlord has 30 days to protect it. If you do not damage the property, you should get it back within 10 days of agreeing the amount. Scotland and Northern Ireland use separate schemes.
Did assured shorthold tenancies change in 2026?
GOV.UK’s deposit page says assured periodic tenancies replaced assured shorthold tenancies on 1 May 2026. The deposit rules there are written for the newer tenancy.
Should I test one sheet before doing the whole wall?
Yes. Stick one sheet where a mark is tolerable, leave it, and peel it before you commit.
Which listings in this set claim easy removal?
Moroccan says removed with no residue. Fantasnight says no residue and also says single use.
Is fresh emulsion a bad surface?
It is a risky one. Soft or poorly bonded paint comes away with the adhesive, which is the failure in the rental reviews.
Who do I ask before I stick anything?
Ask the landlord or their agent, and keep the answer. A product page cannot authorise an alteration the tenancy forbids.
