Tile stickers kitchen splashback and the hob gap

Updated: October 2026

You want the wall behind the worktop finished without a tiler, and a pack of stickers is in the basket. A tile stickers kitchen splashback, in this amazon.co.uk set, is wipeable film with whatever heat sentence that seller printed. It is not a non-combustible lining. Prices are on the [tile stickers comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/tile-stickers). This page is from the Products Compared editorial team. Heat lines and review notes are from the eleven amazon.co.uk listings, read on 16 October 2026. A qualifying purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What these packs claim

The sentences disagree, so they are not one specification. Both Tile Style 72-packs state up to 120°C and more than 25 cm from the heat source. Alwayspon retro red, dark brown and herringbone state up to 120°C and no centimetre gap. Hode says keep 10 cm from an open flame and prints no temperature. Fantasnight, Amoyun and TOFFCAEA say heat resistant with no figure. WoStick states no temperature and no gap. The CAP Code is why these lines stay advertising. Approved Document B is building-fire guidance for England, and none of these listings evidences it. Which pack suits the wall, heat aside, is best tile stickers.

The gap from the hob

If you keep one distance from this set, keep Tile Style’s: more than 25 cm from the heat source, on the pack that says it. It names both 120°C and a gap. It is still the seller’s sentence, not a temperature we measured on a gas hob. Hode’s 10 cm is an open-flame line on that marble rectangle. It is not permission to move a Tile Style sheet, or an Alwayspon sheet, closer to the flame. Directly behind the burners is the zone these packs are the wrong product for. A kettle marks film too. Leave a gap you can point at, and keep the kettle base off the sheet. An electric hob still heats the wall behind it. If the pattern only finishes by running into that gap, stop the film and leave the reveal as tile, metal or a proper splashback.

What UK reviews saw

On the Moroccan pack, a UK review dated 30 June 2026 says a kettle left near the stickers marked them after a few months, and another says pieces near the hob peeled. On WoStick, a review says kitchen heat made pieces peel and that they were pressed back. Those are individual reports. They are enough to expect maintenance. Alwayspon red and dark brown share one review sequence, so a complaint there is not two heat tests. Fantasnight’s high-temperature line has no number to set beside the Moroccan kettle marks. A sheet that looks fine on day one can mark after months of steam. Plan to stop the run short of the heat.

Oil, sockets and when to tile

Wiping grease is a cleaning claim. Surviving a flame is separate. Tile Style, the Moroccan pack, Fantasnight and Alwayspon use oil-proof wording, or they say oil splashes wipe off. Use a soft cloth and a mild wash. A sharp pad scratches thin film, which reviewers already report on grey-black Tile Style. Wipe spills when they are cool enough to touch. Cut around sockets and leave the plate clear. Call a tiler when the hob wall needs a non-combustible splashback, when tiles are loose, or when you would push film into the flame gap to finish a pattern. A 120°C line is not Approved Document B compliance. If the wall is rented, pulling a failed sheet can take paint.

Common questions

Can I use tile stickers directly behind a gas hob?
Not as a lining for the flame zone. Tile Style, the pack with both a temperature and a distance, says more than 25 cm from the heat source.
What does 120°C on a listing actually commit the seller to?
It is a product claim on that page. It is not a test we ran, and it is not a temperature measured on a UK hob wall.
Why do two brands state different gaps from the heat?
Each listing wrote its own sentence. Tile Style says more than 25 cm from the heat source.
Will a kettle mark the film?
It has, in this set. A UK review of the Moroccan pack, dated 30 June 2026, says a kettle left nearby marked the stickers after a few months.
Are they oil-proof enough to wipe?
Several listings say oil-proof, or that splashes wipe off. That supports a soft cloth and a mild wash on a cool surface.
Is this a fireproof splashback?
No. Approved Document B is building fire guidance, and these packs do not evidence it.
Which packs state a number rather than the word heat?
Tile Style states 120°C and more than 25 cm, on both 72-packs. Alwayspon’s three listings state 120°C and no centimetre gap here.
