Best plug-in fence

Updated: October 2026

A best plug-in fence, in this set, is a job match. Search pages crown a kit while the same amazon.co.uk listing prints more than one height, so there is no top pick while the page disagrees with itself. We kept three listings, read on 19 October 2026: Koknows at about £174.92, WELDUN at about £24.99, and JonesHouseDeco at about £25.99. Stars are 4.5 from 110, 4.4 from 101, and 4.0 from 498. The [plug-in fence comparison](/hub/fencing-and-wire/plug-in-fence) holds the fields side by side.

No single winner

A star rating is the listing average, not proof every reviewer received the height in the title. Koknows review texts also describe 61 cm panels and pieces about 42 cm by 32 cm. WELDUN prints 61 cm, 41 cm and 0.31 m, with nine review texts. JonesHouseDeco's 4.0 from 498 sits on a 30 cm wooden insert. Best value is not WELDUN at about £24.99 while those heights remain. The checks are on the plug-in fence buying guide.

A 30 cm wooden edge

JonesHouseDeco is the bed edge: 120 cm long, 30 cm high and 1.35 cm thick, at about £25.99, ranked under garden edging. Questions on stakes, weatherproofing and paint have no answer. JASA, on 4 July 2026, reported rot after about a year in soil and judged it untreated. That is one review, not a measured life. P Moore tapped a low line into a small front garden in about an hour. Skip it if you need stakes in the box, a stated preservative, or anything taller than 30 cm.

A metal border you cannot measure from the page

WELDUN is 10 panels and 11 rods at about £24.99 and 2.87 kg. The title says 320 cm by 61 cm. The same file says 41 cm and prints 3.1 m by 0.31 m, so you cannot call it a 61 cm fence. Overlap the snap rings, drop them onto the pillar, and hammer that pillar with a small hammer. A black coating is claimed, with no standard named. Buyers mention a puppy on a terrace and dogs off a bed. Xavier returned it as flimsy. The file does not say which height arrived.

A gated run, if the reviews match the title

Koknows agrees on the title and the first bullet: 102 cm by 7 m, nine panels plus a gate, 5.5 cm gaps, iron, 14.6 kg, about £174.92. Drive stakes with a rubber mallet on soft ground, then snap the panels. The stake count is not printed. Reviews call the gate narrow. Shazyd1, on 28 September 2026, wanted the two locks because the dogs could not open them. Other reviews describe shorter pieces. Beside a road, 102 cm is over the usual 1 metre cap. Skip it if the opening must be wide.

Who should buy something else

Leave this category if the fence must keep a dog in the garden, or if the dog already clears about a metre. Dogs Trust says the boundary should be strong and tall enough for that dog, with bins moved off the line. Also leave if you need rabbit-proof mesh or a coating you can cite to a standard. None of these listings names BS 1722 or a timber use class. If the house is listed, ask the council. There is no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Common questions

Is there a single best plug-in fence in this set?
No. A top pick needs one agreed height and a counted box. JonesHouseDeco agrees at 30 cm and does not state stakes. WELDUN counts 11 rods and prints three heights. Koknows agrees at 102 cm, then the reviews describe other heights. Stars of 4.5, 4.4 and 4.0 do not close that gap.
Which listing is only a 30 cm bed edge?
JonesHouseDeco. The title and dimensions agree at 120 cm by 30 cm, about £25.99, under garden edging. Reviewers still tap it, and a hard blow can split the wood. No preservative is stated. One reviewer reported rot after about a year. It can mark a bed. It is not the gated run.
Can I treat the WELDUN fence as 61 cm high?
The title says 61 cm, a bullet says 41 cm, and the dimensions say 0.31 m. You would be choosing a favourite figure. The pack is 10 panels and 11 rods at about £24.99. Dog reviews do not say which height arrived. Measure the panel before you treat the title as the height.
Who should skip the Koknows set?
Skip it if all 110 ratings must be the 102 cm gate, because the file also describes shorter pieces. Skip a wide opening: reviews call the gate narrow. Skip a front boundary beside a road, where 102 cm is over the usual 1 metre cap. The mallet method is limited to soft ground.
Does a higher star rating mean the taller fence?
No. Koknows at 4.5 from 110 includes reviews of shorter products. WELDUN at 4.4 from 101 sits under three printed heights. JonesHouseDeco at 4.0 from 498 is a 30 cm wooden insert. Read a review that states a height before you treat the stars as a test of the title.
What should I buy if the dog already jumps a metre?
A different category. A dog that already clears about a metre will clear a 30 cm insert and may clear a disputed 41 to 61 cm panel. Dogs Trust wants a fence tall and strong enough for that dog, with bins off the line. That is not a stake border from this set.
