Eufy doorbell with no subscription

Updated: 22 October 2026

You have left a Ring-style monthly plan, or you are trying not to start one, and the eufy bullet says there is no subscription. That sentence is about the event clip. A eufy doorbell with no subscription can keep the clip on a microSD card, on 8 GB inside some E340 listings, or on a HomeBase. You still open the eufy app and log in to watch it, and a thumbnail alert can still place a preview on a server for a short time. The [Eufy doorbell comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/eufy-doorbell) only flags the fee line and the prices. The figures below are amazon.co.uk prices from 19 October 2026. This is not a lab, and it is not an audit of today’s app screen. Which doorbell fits the doorway is on the [eufy doorbell buying guide](/hub/electronic-surveillance/eufy-doorbell/sub/eufy-doorbell-buying-guide).

You have left a Ring-style monthly plan, or you are trying not to start one, and the eufy bullet says there is no subscription. That sentence is about the event clip.

No monthly plan is not the same as no account

eufy’s support answer says recording does not require a cloud-backup subscription. That is the fee question, and the answer is that event clips do not depend on a monthly backup plan. The privacy commitment says the footage stays on the device unless you turn cloud backup on, and that you view it in the eufy app while you are logged in. Local storage and no account are different claims. This page does not say the doorbell works with the account deleted, or with no eufy servers involved in the login. The same privacy note is why a thumbnail is a separate choice from the clip. Push notifications that show a preview briefly host that image on AWS, which is eufy’s own description. Text notifications are the alternative they describe. The current wording of that switch in the app is not something this comparison has re-checked screen by screen, so use the privacy note rather than a guessed menu label. A new C30 with Chime 2, B0FVX8KDD5 at £79.99, can make that fee claim with a card you still have to buy.

Card, 8 GB, or a base

On a C30 or a C31 that stays on the router, the store is a microSD card in the doorbell, up to 128 GB, and the card is not in the box. The UK product pages lead with local storage and no monthly fee, and they list the card on the excluded line. Pair that doorbell with a HomeBase and the storage FAQ says the clips are stored on the base instead. HomeBase 2 has 16 GB built in. HomeBase 3 has 16 GB built in and takes a drive. The C31 page’s up to 16 TB line is the manufacturer’s expansion claim for HomeBase S380. It is not a measurement of a doorbell in this set, and it is not included because you skipped a subscription. An E340 that states storage in this comparison uses 8 GB of eMMC in the doorbell. A published E340 write-up notes that expanding past that needs a HomeBase. Do not turn 8 GB into a count of days or weeks. The storage FAQ’s own illustration, 16 GB holding 30 clips a day of 20 seconds for up to 180 days, is an illustration, not a result on these ASINs. That FAQ also describes the event file as AES-256. A solo C30 or C31 with a card you bought, or an E340 whose listing states 8 GB on the device, can carry the no-monthly-fee sentence without a base. The C31 without a chime, B0GSFQL25B, was £84.99 on this shelf. eufy.com listed a C31 at £89.99 the same day. The S220, B09377VH3T, will not give you one storage number. The table says 16 GB and a highlight says 32 GB. Check the carton. Its 4.1 from 20,952 is a review paste shared with B0DXF86WRB and B0GSFQL25B, so that count is not a storage sample. The S330 kit, B0GN8MRMCJ, puts HomeBase in the title, at 4.6 from three ratings and with no review text in the saved listing. Confirm the base against the carton.

What still leaves the house

The clip can stay on the card, on the 8 GB, or on the base, and something else can still leave. eufy’s privacy commitment says thumbnail notifications briefly host a preview image on AWS. If you want to avoid that preview, the alternative they describe is a text notification. Cloud backup is optional. Turn it on and you have chosen a copy off the device, which is a different product from the local clip. This page has not walked the current app to rename those controls, so the privacy note is the source. A support article that says you do not need a cloud-storage plan in order to record is consistent with the fee claim, and it does not say the app runs with no account. Reviews on the Renewed C30 in this set include a cloud offer the app then said did not cover that C30, which is a reason to read any plan prompt against your model rather than accept it as included storage. The £139.00 E340, B0GH7KRSQQ, is the large dual-camera file in the set, and its praise includes local storage and a move away from a monthly fee. That praise is about the fee. It is not a certificate that no preview ever touches a server. Choose text alerts if that preview is the part you want to decline, and still expect to log in.

What this page will not decide

Continuous recording is a power question. On a C31, 24/7 recording and the five-second pre-roll are hardwire behaviours, with the battery left in and the old chime bypassed on the path eufy describes for that mode. HomeBase 2’s lack of 24/7 is the same power-page fact. No subscription does not switch those modes on. Volts, VA, and the difference between a trickle charge and a bypass sit on the eufy doorbell wired or battery page. Which named model to buy, including who should skip a thin review file, sits on the best eufy doorbell page. A camera or a microphone that records people beyond your boundary brings in UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. GOV.UK’s domestic CCTV guidance is the public note for that case. Local storage does not remove it. You leave this page knowing what to buy besides the doorbell — a card, or nothing further if the listing already states 8 GB or a base you have confirmed — and what you have not opted out of: the login, and a thumbnail preview if you leave that alert on.

Common questions

Do you pay a monthly fee to keep event clips?
Event clips on these doorbells do not require a cloud-backup subscription. eufy’s support answer says recording does not need that plan, and the UK C30 and C31 pages advertise local storage with no monthly fee. The clip sits on a microSD card, on 8 GB where an E340 listing says so, or on a HomeBase if you have paired one. You still use the eufy app and a login to view the files. A monthly plan is optional cloud backup, which is a separate choice from the local clip.
Does local storage mean the doorbell works with no eufy account?
Local storage means the video stays on the device or the base unless you enable cloud backup. eufy’s privacy commitment says you view that video in the app while logged in. It does not say the doorbell works with no account and no eufy servers. Thumbnail notifications, on the same note, briefly host a preview on AWS, and text notifications are the alternative they describe. No monthly fee answers the backup plan. It leaves the login in place.
Is the microSD card in the C30 or C31 box?
The card is not included. UK C30 and C31 pages list microSD up to 128 GB and put the card on the excluded line. On the router, that card sits in the doorbell. Joined to a HomeBase, the storage FAQ says the clips are stored on the base instead. Budget for a card if you are not buying a base. HomeBase 2 is 16 GB built in. HomeBase 3 is 16 GB built in and can take a drive. The up to 16 TB line is eufy’s expansion claim for HomeBase S380, not a card in the doorbell box.
What is the 8 GB figure on an E340?
Several E340 listings in this set state 8 GB of eMMC in the doorbell, which is the store when you have not added a HomeBase. A published note says that expanding past that needs a base. HomeBase is optional on the E340 line, and adding one is how you grow the store, not how you unlock the no-monthly-fee wording. Do not convert 8 GB into a month of clips. The FAQ’s up to 180 days example is an illustration for a 16 GB base, at 30 clips a day of 20 seconds, and it is not a measurement on these ASINs.
Why is there no single storage number for the S220?
The S220 listing B09377VH3T prints 16 GB in the table and 32 GB in a highlight. Those lines disagree, so the carton is the check, and this page will not average them. The 4.1 from 20,952 on that ASIN is a review paste shared with two C31 listings, B0DXF86WRB and B0GSFQL25B. It is not evidence of how much storage was in the box. The S330 kit names HomeBase in the title and has 4.6 from three ratings, with no review text in the file we held. Confirm that base the same way, against the carton.
What do thumbnail alerts send off the doorbell?
eufy’s privacy commitment says a thumbnail push notification briefly hosts a preview image on AWS. The clip itself stays local unless you turn cloud backup on. Text notifications are the alternative described in that note. This comparison has not re-audited the current app screen, so it does not invent the label of the switch. If you want the preview, you are accepting that short off-device image. If you do not, choose the text alert and still log in to watch the clip.
Does 24/7 recording follow from no subscription?
24/7 recording on a C31 follows from hardwire, with the battery left in and the existing chime bypassed on the path eufy describes, plus a five-second pre-roll on that same path. It does not follow from skipping a monthly fee. HomeBase 2, on eufy’s power-mode article, does not offer 24/7. Battery-only use, including a C30, has no 24/7 mode in the notes used here. A camera that looks past your boundary is a UK GDPR question even when every clip stays on a card in the hall.
