Eufy local storage and the no monthly fee line

Updated: 22 October 2026

You bought the camera because the title said no monthly fee, and you now need to know where the clip actually sits. On eufy, local storage with no monthly fee means you are not forced onto a plan to keep a recording on a card, on memory in the camera, or on a HomeBase. It does not mean the memory was in the box, and it does not mean a thumbnail preview never leaves the house. The [Eufy camera comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/eufy-camera) is the table of the nine amazon.co.uk listings. This page is only the storage question. Peter F., editor for DIY & tools, used those listings, eufy's UK privacy note, and the support article on recording without a plan.

What no monthly fee does and does not mean

eufy's support article says you do not need a cloud plan to record. Built-in in that sentence is not true of every camera in this set. The fee you avoid is the subscription. The cost you can still meet is the card. A shared review count, whether 135 or 1,745, is not evidence about where this ASIN stores video.

Card, built-in memory, or HomeBase

Three places cover this set: a card you buy, memory the listing names on the camera, or a HomeBase. C31 capacity on the camera is described up to 256 GB, and the card is not included. The C31 two-pack can use HomeBase Mini or HomeBase 3. It is not a HomeKit store. The E40 has no solo card path that skips HomeBase S380 or HomeBase 2. The eufy UK shop spec says 8 GB EMMC for the S220. Print 4 GB for B0C277MHX7, and do not average them to 6 GB. Do not state a card size for the E220.

Thumbnail previews and optional cloud

A thumbnail on a lock-screen alert is not the same as the clip on the card. Leaving the preview on does not create a monthly fee, and switching it off does not delete the card. Cloud figures in our notes come from eufy's UK article, not from a price we measured at checkout: about £3.99 a month for one device, and about £12.99 a month for Plus. eufy can change them.

If the only copy is on the camera

An S220 with only the highlight's 4 GB, or a head with only a card inside it, is a single copy. The C35 kit is the listing that puts an indoor store in the box. If the lens films past your boundary, the Information Commissioner's Office expects secure storage and regular deletion. How to get the card recognised is on the eufy camera setup page. Which hub you can join before you buy is the buying guide.

Common questions

Can you record with no subscription?
Yes, according to eufy's support article. Recording does not require a cloud plan. The clip goes to storage on the device if you do not buy backup. In this set, on the device sometimes means a card you still have to buy, and sometimes means the HomeBase. No monthly fee is the plan. It is not a promise that the box already contains the memory.
Which cameras still need a card you buy?
The C31 listings will not record without a microSD card or a HomeBase, and the card is not included. The C220 names a card up to 128 GB, not included. The single C35 needs a card or a HomeBase Mini. The C35 kit includes the Mini and not the card. The E220 reviews mention a card, and the spec does not state a size, so buy one only if you want a timeline and do not expect a printed capacity.
What does the S220 highlight say about memory?
Built-in 4 GB, on this ASIN. The eufy UK shop page says 8 GB EMMC for SoloCam S220. Use 4 GB when you are talking about B0C277MHX7, and mention the disagreement. Do not merge the two numbers. That 4 GB is on the camera. It is the copy you lose if the camera is taken and you have no hub.
What does the C35 kit include for storage?
The HomeBase Mini is in the £155 box. A microSD card is not. Clips can sit on the hub, which is the indoor copy, or on a card if you add one. The kit is not a HomeBase 2. The 1,745-review line is shared with the single C35, so it is not a separate proof of how much the Mini holds.
Why will a C31 not record on day one?
Because the listing requires a microSD card or a HomeBase before it records, and the card is not in the carton. Joining Wi-Fi is not the same step. Fit a card, or pair a HomeBase Mini or HomeBase 3, then format in the app. The two-pack does not remove that requirement, and it does not add HomeKit as the store.
Do thumbnail alerts stay in the house?
Not while the preview feature is on. eufy says thumbnails for push alerts are briefly hosted and then deleted, and the S220 footnotes that preview as a temporary upload. The recording on the card or the hub is a different thing. You can turn the preview off. That setting is not a cloud subscription, and it is not a promise that footage never leaves.
What happens if someone takes the camera?
They take the only copy if the card or the built-in memory was the only store. A HomeBase inside the house, or another backup you opted into, is what remains. Optional UK cloud prices on eufy's own article were about £3.99 a month for one device and £12.99 a month for Plus. Those are not a checkout we measured, and they can change. If you film beyond your boundary, delete on a schedule. The ICO line is secure storage and regular deletion, especially for audio.
