What you are actually buying
An Arlo camera in this set is not a boxed recorder with a hard drive in the cupboard. It joins your Wi-Fi, it asks for an Arlo account, and it shows a live picture in the Arlo Secure app. Reviewers of the outdoor pan-tilt pair say that account wants an email and a phone number. None of these eleven packs includes a SmartHub, and the Essential pan-tilt models cannot join one.
Colour night vision here is spotlight colour. IP65 is a jet rating, not a reason to submerge the camera. Person, vehicle, animal, and package detection, activity zones, and cloud history are Arlo Secure features. Motion alerts, live stream, siren, spotlight, and two-way audio are on Arlo’s UK no-plan list. If the bullet you liked is in the first group, price the plan on the Arlo Secure subscription page before you compare pack prices.
The job next week, then the power
The first check is the job next week. If you only need the live picture, a plan is optional. If you need history, activity zones, or richer detection, the plan is part of the product. An Essential 2 at £49.99 plus twelve months at the reported £7.99 is about £146 in year one. Confirm the monthly price in the app.
The second check is power. A socket suits a pan-tilt that will not move. A high eave suits a battery, and Arlo’s averages only hold under three minutes of clips a day. A new outdoor circuit for the floodlight is an electrician’s job under Part P in England. A USB lead on an existing socket is not. If that split is still open, use Arlo wired or battery before you sort by stars.
The plan, then where the lens points
The third check is the plan, even when you hope to skip it. Cloud history is not in the no-plan list. Local storage is listed by Arlo with an asterisk: it needs a separate hub, and these boxes do not include one. The outdoor pan-tilt pair at £104.99 and the indoor pan-tilt pair at £69.99 cannot pair with a SmartHub at all.
The fourth check is where the lens points. A view of your own hall or garden usually stays in the household exemption. If it sees a pavement or a neighbour’s door, the ICO says UK GDPR applies: a real reason, a narrower view, and a sign. A 360° head can see next door even when you aimed it at your own step.
How the checks land on these packs
Under about £80 the job is one spot or one room, not a driveway system. The Essential 2 is one 2K battery camera at £49.99, rated 4.0 from 68. The indoor fixed pair is £58.49 and the indoor pan-tilt is £69.99. The pan-tilt cannot join a hub.
From about £80 to £180 the band holds the floodlight at £99.99, the outdoor pan-tilt at £104.99, the XL pair at £109.00, the HD three-pack at £141.31, and the Pro 6 two-camera kit at £174.99 (3.8 from 115). That 115 is the same line as the larger Pro 6 kits. Do not add the counts. The older 1080p three-pack is £247.68 at 3.8 from 700, which does not make it newer than the £141.31 HD three-pack. Common questions
Will a pan-tilt record to a SmartHub?
No. Arlo’s compatibility note says Essential pan-tilt cameras cannot pair with a SmartHub or base station. Reviewers of the outdoor pair at £104.99 and the indoor pair at £69.99 say the same thing. Those packs are the wrong order if local hub storage was the point.
What should I add for the monthly plan before I compare pack prices?
Add a year of the tier you will actually open. Specialist UK pages in 2026 report about £7.99 a month for one camera, £11.99 for up to four, £19.99 for Secure Plus, and £24.99 for Secure Pro. Confirm the figure in the Arlo app.
Can I film the pavement in front of a terraced house?
If the lens sees the pavement or a neighbour, the ICO says UK GDPR applies. You need a real reason, the narrowest view that still does the job, and a sign. A camera that only sees your own hall or garden usually stays in the household exemption.
Is the older 1080p three-pack better because it has 700 reviews?
It has the longest review history in this set, at 3.8 from 700. The shelf price is £247.68 for 1080p. The Essential 3 HD three-pack is £141.31 at 3.9 from 130. More reviews describe the older generation. They do not raise its resolution.
Does 66p a day on the bullet equal the Secure price?
No. Sixty-six pence a day is about £20 a month if you multiply it out, which sits near the reported Secure Plus figure, not the reported single-camera price of about £7.99. It is a slogan on the bullet, not a quote from the Arlo checkout.
