Jung surface switch: the grey 606 W is a complete WG 600 unit

Updated: October 2026

You are replacing a grey switch on the surface of a garage, cellar, loft or utility-room wall, and the amazon.co.uk row in front of you is the Jung 606 W at £12.60. It is not another flush insert with a rocker still to buy. In this set it is the only complete surface switch. Jung has dated it for discontinuation, and the successor is a different range with a different frame size. The rows for all three ASINs are on the [Jung switch comparison](/hub/electrical-equipment/jung-switch). Figures are the listings noted on 21 October 2026. 606 W is a complete WG 600 unit

B000ONPJCW is the grey rocker listed as 2-way, IP44 and 250 V. Jung's UK page describes the same article as a 1-gang, 1-pole 2-way switch, 10 AX, grey, IP44, in the WG 600 surface range. Amazon does not print a current for this ASIN. Reviews describe fixing a housing, not clipping a bare insert into a frame. One UK-marked review is a utility-room swap after 15 years. It is not the 507 U or the 509 U. Those are flush inserts. Two-way here means one end of a two-way circuit, not an intermediate. The job match is the best Jung switch page.

Garages, cellars, lofts and utility rooms

Jung's UK WG 600 page calls the range surface-mounted and IP44, for outside areas as well as cellars, garages and lofts. The design sheet says duroplastic, grey similar to RAL 7035, with a frame of 68 x 52 mm. A utility room is where the one UK review used this type of switch. Illumination is an optional lamp, not part of the standard 606 W. IP44 does not, by itself, authorise a switch inside a bath or shower zone. If the cables are a new circuit, or the box is damaged, the swap boundary is replace a Jung light switch. A surface housing is not an isolator.

Discontinued on 31 August 2027

Jung's UK page for the 606 W marks it discontinued on 31 August 2027 and names the successor as the 806 W. The 806 W is a WG 800 surface switch, and it is not an ASIN here. Buying B000ONPJCW does not ship you an 806 W. The WG 800 frame is 75 x 75 x 58 mm. The WG 600 frame is 68 x 52 mm. Do not assume the new frame lands on the old screw marks. If the article on the wall is still 606 W, the like-for-like listing is B000ONPJCW at £12.60. A Conrad figure of £13.99 is not that shelf price.

What the Amazon table adds and what to ignore

The useful cells on the amazon.co.uk row are grey, 2-way, IP44, 250 V, and a price of £12.60. Ignore 600 W, Wi-Fi and touch. Jung's load note is 100 W for self-ballasted lamps, not 600 W. The Amazon table says screw terminals. Jung's page says screwless for rigid wire up to 2.5 mm², and this page follows Jung. No indicator is in the title. One buyer says the rocker face broke and is not sold on its own. The listing GTIN 04011377309609 matches Jung's EAN 4011377309609.

When you wanted a flush insert

If the old switch is a flush plate, you wanted a 507 U or a 509 U, not a WG 600 housing. The 507 U is the intermediate insert. The 509 U is IP20, a poor match for the garage and cellar duty Jung states for WG 600. Do not fit the 606 W housing into a flush back box. An 8 x 8 x 5 cm parcel size is not a plaster-depth insert. Stay here when the grey box stands off the wall and the article you are copying is 606 W.

Common questions

Is the 606 W a complete surface switch or another flush insert?
It is a complete WG 600 surface switch. Jung's UK page and the reviews that describe a housing agree on that. The 507 U and the 509 U are the flush inserts in this set, and their Amazon listings do not state a cover. A wall-mount cell on its own is not what makes the 606 W complete. The housing in the reviews is.
Where does Jung say WG 600 is used?
Jung's UK range page says surface-mounted, IP44, for outside areas as well as cellars, garages and lofts, with a 68 x 52 mm frame. The design sheet says duroplastic, grey similar to RAL 7035. A UK review adds a utility-room replacement after 15 years of daily use. That is buyer experience of a like-for-like swap, not a second official room list.
What does IP44 mean here for a bathroom?
IP44 is the protection claim on the listing and on Jung's WG 600 page. It does not by itself authorise a switch in a bath or shower zone. This page does not draw those zones. A garage or cellar is the duty Jung names. A bathroom location is a different job, and a new or altered circuit there is outside a like-for-like spare.
Is the 606 W discontinued, and what is the 806 W?
Jung's UK 606 W page dates discontinuation at 31 August 2027 and names the 806 W as successor. The 806 W is a WG 800 1-pole 2-way, 10 AX, IP44 switch. It is not one of the three ASINs here. Buying B000ONPJCW does not ship you an 806 W. The electrical version line is similar. The product in the basket is still the 606 W.
Will an 806 W frame match a WG 600 frame?
Do not assume it will. The WG 600 figure used here is a 68 x 52 mm frame. The WG 800 design data gives 75 x 75 x 58 mm. Those sizes are from two Jung documents, and they are not the same footprint. A long-term spare planned around the old screw marks needs a check against the wall, not a guess that the successor drops on.
Why does Amazon say 600 W, Wi-Fi and screw terminals?
Those rows conflict with Jung's page for this article, which is a mechanical screwless switch with a 100 W self-ballasted cap, not a 600 W Wi-Fi device. The 600 W, Wi-Fi and touch cells are not used. The screw cell is the same kind of clash. Follow the article page when you are matching terminals, and ignore a cell that would turn the rocker into a smart switch.
Does the listing include an indicator lamp?
No indicator is in the title or the attribute table, and the page does not answer a question about a light. Jung treats illumination as an optional lamp with its own reference, including on the 806 W. A review that had to replace the whole switch after the rocker face broke is a further limit: the face is not described as a separate spare.
