Jung switch: choose the article number before the stars

Updated: October 2026

You are comparing three Jung rockers on amazon.co.uk and they look interchangeable: a dark flush insert at £14.97, another dark flush insert at £22.75, and a grey rocker at £12.60. The titles carry article numbers, then the attribute tables disagree with those numbers. A Jung switch is the right spare only when the function, the mounting and the contents of the box match the point already on the wall. This page is that order of decision. The full rows sit on the [Jung switch comparison](/hub/electrical-equipment/jung-switch). A purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the job, not the stars

The star lines are close enough to mislead you. The 507 U is 4.8 from 236 ratings, the 509 U is 4.6 from 254, and the 606 W is 4.8 from 158. None of those figures says whether one light is switched from one place, two places or three. Sort by stars and you can order a middle switch for a simple landing, or a surface housing for a flush back box. Start with the room. Count how many positions already control that one light, then look at whether the old part is a flush insert behind a plate or a complete unit fixed on the plaster. After that, read what the price does not include.

Function decides 507 U, 509 U or a two-way

Function is the first split. The 507 U is Jung's intermediate insert, the middle switch when three or more positions control one light. The 509 U is not that middle switch. Jung's UK page calls it two 1-pole 2-way mechanisms on one insert, and the amazon.co.uk title says double change. The single-rocker two-way in this set is the 606 W, a surface unit rather than a flush insert. If you cannot yet say one-way, two-way or intermediate, read intermediate switch or two way before you compare the three prices. Jung's sheets print 10 AX and a 100 W cap for self-ballasted lamps. Amazon fills a current cell only for the 509 U, at 10 A. Do not copy that 10 A across, and do not treat a 250 W row as the load.

Flush insert or complete surface unit

Mounting is the second split, and it changes the shape in your hand. The 507 U and the 509 U are flush inserts. They belong in a back box, and the plate is a separate decision. The 606 W is a complete grey WG 600 surface switch. Reviews describe a housing you fix to the wall. If the old switch in the garage is a grey box on the surface, a flush 507 U will not take its place because both say Jung. If the old switch is a flush plate, the 606 W housing is the wrong shape even though the listing says wall mount. The discontinuation date belongs on Jung surface switch.

The insert price is not the price on the wall

The amazon.co.uk shelf prices are £12.60 for the 606 W, £14.97 for the 507 U and £22.75 for the 509 U. The parcels do not state a frame or a rocker for either flush insert. The 509 U says installation hardware, which is not a named frame, and a cover question on the 507 U goes unanswered. So those prices are the mechanism, unless you already own the plate. An LS 990 set is a different purchase. Swtch sells a white set, insert plus rocker plus frame, from £28, with an intermediate option at £44. That is not a discount on these rows. Once the parts match, the swap boundary is replace a Jung light switch.

Rows on the Amazon table that are not the switch

The attribute tables contradict the article numbers, and this comparison keeps the title and Jung's version line where they clash. On the 507 U the switch-type row says 1-way, while the title says Kreuz. The 1-way row is not used. On the 509 U the table adds Wi-Fi, touch, a plug-in connector, a 1-way circuit, 250 W and 0.01 °C. The title is a mechanical double-change rocker. Those extra rows are not used. On the 606 W the table adds Wi-Fi, touch and 600 W. The 600 W cell is not the lamp load, and no indicator lamp is in the title.

Common questions

Which decision comes first: function, mounting, or finish?
Function comes first, then mounting, then what the box actually contains. Finish, including white or alpine white frames in Jung's wider range, is not the colour row on these three ASINs. The 507 U and 509 U are listed as dark, and the 606 W is grey. A frame colour you like does not change an intermediate into a two-way, and it does not turn a flush insert into a surface housing.
Does £14.97 or £22.75 include a rocker and a frame?
Neither amazon.co.uk listing states a frame or a rocker in the parcel. The 507 U is package quantity 1, and a question about a cover is unanswered. The 509 U says installation hardware without naming a frame. Jung lists covers separately. Treat those shelf prices as the insert unless a plate from the same range is already on the wall.
Is 507 U the middle switch, and is 509 U two switches on one insert?
Yes to both, and they are not the same part. Jung's UK page calls the 507 U a 1-gang intermediate insert. It calls the 509 U a 2-gang insert with two 1-pole 2-way mechanisms. Two rockers on one insert are a gang count. They do not make the 509 U the middle switch of a three-position landing.
When is 606 W the wrong shape?
The 606 W is the wrong shape when you need a flush insert behind an existing plate. It is a complete grey WG 600 surface switch, IP44 on the listing and on Jung's page. Reviews describe a housing, not a bare mechanism you clip into an LS frame. A living-room flush box is the case where you leave it in the basket.
Which Amazon rows should I ignore?
Ignore 1-way on the 507 U. Ignore Wi-Fi, touch, 250 W, plug-in, 1-way and 0.01 °C on the 509 U. Ignore Wi-Fi, touch and 600 W on the 606 W. Those cells conflict with the mechanical titles. Jung's 10 AX and 100 W self-ballasted figures stay labelled as the manufacturer sheet, not as an Amazon wattage row.
When should I stop and use an electrician?
Stop when you still cannot name the function, when the work is a new circuit, or when you are altering electrics in the space around a bath or shower. Choosing an article number is not the same as proving a circuit dead. The replace page sets that boundary, and it does not turn this buying order into a wiring method.
