Bosch combi drill buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

Ten Bosch combi drills on amazon.co.uk all say 18 V, a chuck and a hammer symbol. This Bosch combi drill buying guide puts the questions in the order that changes the shortlist: the battery you already own, the hole, the torque and chuck on the model page, and whether a pack is in the box. Stars come last. The rows are the capture of 19 October 2026, with Bosch GB pages where Amazon disagrees. There was no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Start with the battery you already own

Both ranges are 18 V, and the packs do not cross. Green names are EasyImpact, UniversalImpact and AdvancedImpact, on POWER FOR ALL. Blue names are GSB, on Professional 18 V, marketed as AMPShare. A grey AMPShare pack is still blue. If the house is green, every GSB here is a second system: none of the four blue rows includes a pack or a charger. One UK buyer returned a GSB 18V-25 because a Home and Garden pack did not fit. The fork is the Bosch green or blue drill page.

Then name the hole, not the hammer icon

A Bosch combi has a clutch, a drill mode and a ratchet hammer of two ribbed discs. An SDS uses a piston. Screws, wood, metal and a plug in softer brick or block are combi work. Dense concrete, engineering brick, large holes and chasing need the SDS. Stated masonry maxima here are 13 mm on the EasyImpact 18V-40 and the AdvancedImpact 18V-80, and 16 mm on the GSB 18V-110 C. The stop-line is the Bosch combi drill for brick page.

Read torque and chuck from the model page

When Amazon and Bosch disagree, keep the model page. The EasyImpact 18V-38 at about £76.50 is 38 Nm and 10 mm. The 18V-40 kits are 40 Nm and 13 mm. One Bosch cell says “torque settings 2”; the manual says 20 stages. The AdvancedImpact 18V-80 at about £139 states 82 Nm and QuickSnap, with 13 mm masonry on the Bosch page, 26 reviews at 4.4, and one battery that would not release. The UniversalImpact 18 at about £103.21 is 34 Nm, not the later 18V-60. The GSB 18V-25 does not agree with itself: Bosch lists 21/56/60 Nm and 1.5–13 mm, Amazon prints 45 Nm, 10 mm and brushless, and a UK title says brushed. On the GSB 18V-65, 55 Nm, 65 Nm and a 175 mm head length are all on the same listing.

Price the box, not the sticker

Four listings have no battery, from the GSB 18V-25 at about £48.95 to the GSB 18V-110 C at about £149.99 or about £186 with an L-BOXX. About £48.95 is not cheaper than about £64.97 until a Professional pack and charger are priced. A Bosch page showed a two-pack ProCORE kit at £478.15 including VAT, outside this set. Green kits run from that about £64.97 EasyImpact through about £75.23 and about £83.64, then about £76.50, about £103.21 and about £139. A first householder wants a case, a charger and 13 mm, on a BS 1363 plug. Who each row is for is the best Bosch combi drill page.

Common questions

Do Bosch 18 V batteries fit every Bosch combi drill?
No. POWER FOR ALL packs do not run a GSB, and AMPShare or ProCORE packs do not run an EasyImpact, UniversalImpact or AdvancedImpact. Both systems are 18 V. Bosch says they are built for different jobs and will not be unified. Match the combi to the packs already on the shelf, or you will buy a second charger before the first hole.
Should a first drill be a kit or the cheapest body?
Buy a kit if you own no Bosch packs. The cheapest body here is the GSB 18V-25 at about £48.95, and the included components line is a cardboard box. The EasyImpact 18V-40 with one 1.5 Ah pack is about £64.97 and includes charger AL 18V-20 and a case. The body is cheaper only after a Professional pack and charger are already paid for.
What chuck size do I need for ordinary bits and plugs?
A 13 mm keyless chuck covers the usual twist bits, masonry bits for wall plugs and many hole saws. The EasyImpact 18V-40 listings print 13 mm. The EasyImpact 18V-38 prints 10 mm, which is enough only if your bits already fit that sleeve. When Amazon prints 10 mm on the GSB 18V-25 and Bosch’s GB page prints 1.5–13 mm, use the Bosch block.
Is 40 Nm enough, or do I need 110 Nm?
40 Nm on the EasyImpact 18V-40 covers shelves, flat-pack and small plug holes, and reviewers say brick can be slow. 110 Nm on the GSB 18V-110 C is the step up, and neither box here includes a pack. You need that class when the work and the blue packs are already yours.
When is a combi the wrong tool for the wall?
When the wall is dense concrete, engineering brick, a large hole or a chase. The ratchet hammer can make an occasional plug hole in softer brick or block. It does not become an SDS because the collar shows a hammer. The GSB 18V-110 C’s 16 mm masonry rating is a maximum diameter, not a claim that concrete is easy.
Which figure do I trust when Amazon and the Bosch page disagree?
Trust the Bosch model page for torque, chuck and masonry diameter, and keep the Amazon cell visible as a conflict rather than averaging the two. That matters on the GSB 18V-25, the GSB 18V-65, and the EasyImpact “torque settings 2” cell against a 20-stage manual. Do not treat an Amazon watt or amp figure as a Bosch motor rating.
