Zoom certification is a list of Elgato models
Elgato’s article says Stream Deck is Zoom-certified, and it names the Mini, the Neo, the MK.2, and Stream Deck +. In this comparison those are the six-key Mini, the eight-key Neo, the fifteen-key MK.2, and the XLR bundle. Live mic state is Elgato’s claim for those models. We did not repeat that measurement.
SOOMFON and STREONOR are not on that list. Their listings do not say they are Zoom-certified. A hotkey in their own installer is not Elgato’s Zoom plugin. If the certificate is the reason you are buying, stay on the four Elgato listings. If a keyboard shortcut is enough, the other apps remain in which stream controller to buy.
Teams is a hotkey now
Elgato’s current Teams article says the old plugin was removed. The path now is a hotkey. On Windows that mute shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+M. On a Mac it is Cmd+Shift+M. Put one of those on a single key in Elgato’s app, with Teams in front, and test it on a call you can afford to mute.
The key does not need OBS. The Elgato app has to be running, and Teams has to be the window that receives the shortcut. The listing bullets that name Teams do not mean a finished profile is preloaded.
A meetings desk does not need the XLR bundle
Home workers who want mute, camera, and app launch on a small desk are the Mini or Neo audience in this set. The Mini is £49.99 with six LCD keys. The Neo is £69.99 with eight keys and two info touch points. A UK review says the Neo’s lead is USB-C, so a work laptop without USB-C needs an adapter.
The MK.2, at £109.99 with fifteen keys, is more pad than a mute row needs. The XLR bundle is £227.03. Buy it only when the microphone is XLR. Skip the bundle for calls alone.
What still has to be true on the computer
The Elgato app has to stay open, or the keys fall back to a logo. Elgato’s help page of 25 June 2026 asks for Windows 11 or macOS 13 or later, and it says Windows on ARM may not work as expected. The Mini’s listing still says Windows 10, and the MK.2 still says Windows 10 or macOS 12. A stale Windows 10 line does not override that help page.
On a Mac, hotkeys need Accessibility permission. A managed PC that blocks the installer will not grow a meeting pad by retrying the download. How to get the first key off the logo is on set up a stream controller.
Common questions
Can I mute Zoom without opening OBS?
Yes. Mute sits in Elgato’s app as a Zoom action on the models named in Elgato’s certificate article, or as a hotkey, and OBS does not have to be installed. The Stream Deck app does have to be running, and Zoom has to be open to receive it. The Mini and the Neo are the small pads in this set for that job. Leave a scene button off the profile if you never go live.
Does that certificate cover the SOOMFON or the STREONOR?
No. Elgato’s article does not name them, and their amazon.co.uk listings do not claim Zoom certification. They can still send a hotkey or launch an app if their own software lets you assign one. That can mute a call only in the sense that any programmable key can type Ctrl+Shift+M. It does not add the Zoom plugin or the live mic state Elgato describes for its own models. Buy them for fifteen keys under £70, not for the certificate.
The old Teams plugin is in a 2023 video. What does Elgato say to use now?
Elgato’s Teams article says the plugin was removed. The current path is a hotkey in the Stream Deck app, not a reinstall of the old plugin. Films and chapter titles that still say official integration or Teams plugin describe the withdrawn method. Use the hotkey, test it once on a call, and leave the deprecated plugin out of the setup. Microsoft’s own add-in troubles, if a tenant blocks something else, are a separate problem for the Teams admin.
What is the Teams mute hotkey on Windows and on a Mac?
On Windows, Elgato’s current path uses Ctrl+Shift+M, which is Teams’ mute shortcut, sent from a key. On a Mac, the matching shortcut is Cmd+Shift+M. Assign the one that matches the computer in front of you, with the Elgato app left open. A Windows shortcut on a Mac key does nothing useful, and the reverse is the same. The Neo’s listing does not name an operating system, so check the help page of 25 June 2026, Windows 11 or macOS 13, before you assume the laptop qualifies.
I only take calls. Is the XLR bundle the wrong spend?
Yes, unless the microphone is XLR. The bundle is £227.03 and it is on Elgato’s Zoom list, so the certificate is not the reason to skip it. The reason is the mic input. A USB headset does not use the 75 dB XLR stage or the 48 V phantom power. The Mini at £49.99 or the Neo at £69.99 covers mute and camera on a smaller desk. One UK review reported white noise and delay with in-ear monitors.
Will this work on a work laptop that blocks installers or Accessibility access?
Not until that block is lifted. The Elgato app has to install, and on a Mac the hotkey needs Accessibility permission. A policy that stops either one leaves the pad on a logo. Ask the person who administers the laptop, rather than retrying the download. Check Windows 11 or macOS 13 against Elgato’s help page once the app is allowed.
