Best PE film

Updated: 23 October 2026

You want one roll from this comparison, and a 5.0 score is sitting at the top of a sort that only looks at stars. That score is three silent ratings on a barrier roll, or one review on a polythene sheet. It is not the best PE film for a pallet. Among the 400 mm stretch rolls, the black Triplast listing has the strongest star-and-volume evidence in the capture. The full table, with every price, is the [PE film comparison](/hub/diy-supplies/pe-film). A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Best for what job

The pick is a stretch roll for a pallet or furniture you are willing to hide. Black Triplast is 4.6 from 7,259 amazon.co.uk reviews, 17 micron cast film, 400 mm by a claimed 250 m, at about £6.79. Black conceals the load. It does not add micron. Hilux separates colour from strength the same way. A bullet still talks about a clear finish. Trust the colour field. TPZ clear is the large-sample alternative if you must see labels: 17 micron, about £6.99, 4.5 from 5,767 reviews, with cling reviews that disagree. Triplast clear is the same gauge and cast claim at about £7.99, and its item weight is 100 g. If colour is the whole decision, use clear or black pallet wrap. One UK review of the black roll says about 150 m. Buy it for the sample and the stated 17 micron, not as a measured 250 m.

The £5.99 roll

The best value is the G4GADGET roll at about £5.99, 400 mm by 200 m, transparent, 4.5 from 647 reviews. It is the lowest 400 mm stretch price here, and it prints no micron, so it is best value only when a blank gauge is acceptable. One review found it slightly short. Another buyer tried it as floor film and then said it is wrapping film. JeeJaan looks cheaper per roll only if both rolls really are 250 m. UK reviews say that length is not true. Rainberg at about £6.49 prints 400 m in the title and 250 m in the bullets. If you need a gauge on the page, leave the £5.99 roll. What a blank micron means is the PE film buying guide.

When 23 micron earns the extra

The other G4GADGET roll is the only 23 micron film in the set: clear, 400 mm by 220 m, about £8.99, 4.6 from 3,899 reviews, item weight 1.2 kg. Supplier tables put that band on sharper loads. That is their guidance, not a test of this pallet. Reviews say it is stickier than a previous roll. One person would add tape at the end, and furniture is described as a two-person job. The pack field says 2 and the item count says 1. Pay the extra when corners have already split 17 micron film. Do not pay it because 4.6 looks higher than 4.5. The black Triplast sample is larger and the price is lower.

Do not crown these

Fabater at about £17.05 is 5.0 from three ratings and no review text, on a barrier roll. TOUKBEAU at about £9.58 is 5.0 from one review of a sheet over seedlings. A star sort puts both above every pallet roll. They are different products. NPF Packaging makes the same point about centrefold sheeting: it can cover a pallet and it does not do the job of stretch film. Unihubys is a 4 in by 6 in barrier film. WELSTIK’s 4.5 belongs to a 13 cm roll. BESPORTBLE is mulch, with no star line in the capture. Skip the top pick if you must scan a barcode or you came for a dust sheet. Skip every 5.0 if the job is a pallet.

Common questions

Which roll has the strongest evidence in this set?
Triplast black, ASIN B01F8TPWIC, is 4.6 from 7,259 amazon.co.uk reviews, about £6.79, with 17 micron and cast film stated. It is not a laboratory award. One review puts the length near 150 m, and a bullet still describes a clear finish that this variant does not have.
Why not the 5.0 scores?
Fabater's 5.0 is three ratings and no review text. TOUKBEAU's 5.0 is one review of a sheet over seedlings. A star sort puts both above every pallet roll. Those listings are barrier film and flat sheeting, so they are not the stretch-wrap pick.
Is the cheapest roll the best value?
The £5.99 G4GADGET roll is the best value among 400 mm stretch films here because it is the lowest shelf price and it still has 647 reviews. It does not state a micron. JeeJaan's price per roll looks lower only if both rolls are as long as the title says, and the reviews dispute that.
When is 23 micron the better buy?
Choose the £8.99 G4GADGET roll when the load is heavier or the corners are sharp enough that you want about 20 to 23 micron. It is 4.6 from 3,899 reviews and the only 23 micron line in the set. It is the wrong extra for an ordinary carton that would have been fine at 17 micron.
Should a house move use black or clear?
Use clear when you need to see a label, a crushed corner, or which chest is which. Black Triplast hides the load, which is useful in a warehouse and awkward on a removals day. The black roll remains the top pick for evidence, not the automatic pick for a move.
Is the barrier film a contender?
No, not for a pallet or a sofa. Fabater and Unihubys are small sheets for hard surfaces. Unihubys at least has a printed 4 in by 6 in size and a dispenser. Neither replaces cleaning, and neither clings around furniture. If that is the product you searched for, compare those two with each other and leave the stretch rolls alone.
What should I skip if I need a dust sheet?
Skip every stretch roll, including the £5.99 film a buyer already mistook for floor film. Look at flat sheeting, and in this set that is TOUKBEAU, with conflicting size lines and a single review. Stretch wrap is for holding a load together. It is a poor dust sheet because it clings to itself and to the thing you are trying to protect only by accident.
