Several of these Amazon boxes do not list glue. Do not invent the missing bottle. If the hole is open and your filler has no backing fabric, stop. cenozo lists two backing fabrics. Using a filler kit
Clean dust off a coated scratch without soaking aniline. If a water drop sinks in, Furniture Clinic treats the leather as absorbent, and these pastes are a poor match. Mix a pea of colour on a hidden area and judge it only after it has dried. STARTSO LRK03 reviewers said the colours dry slightly darker than they look wet. Apply thin layers. If you have backing fabric and the tear is open, place it behind the edges first. If you can see foam and the box has no backing, stop.
Heat, drying, and sitting down
Heat is not one rule. cenozo’s bullets say 10 to 20 minutes in air, or 1 to 2 minutes with a hairdryer. BUDOCI says no heat is required and gives no minute count. If your box is silent, wait until the paste is no longer tacky. A hairdryer on high heat can glaze the finish. Use low heat, and only when the listing mentions it. MastaPlasta prints a full cure of 24 hours. One STARTSO black review said the finish went rock hard. More heat will not make that cure flexible.
Using a self-adhesive roll
The surface should be dry and free of dust. Do not wipe it with a chemical cleaner first. Cut the patch before you peel the backing, larger than the hole, so every edge lands on sound material. A small piece over a dog hole came off the same night, and a larger overlap stayed. Follow the curve. Do not bridge a gap between cushions. Press from the middle outward. The first placement is the one that counts. These titles are 150 × 10 cm. You cannot dye the roll.
Mistakes that undo the repair
Super glue dries rigid and then splits, which is why Wakeson warns against it. Matching while the paste is wet misses the dry colour. A patch cut to the exact hole has no overlap. Solvent just before peel-and-stick fights the adhesive. Filling an open hole with no fabric behind it leaves a void. Stop when foam is exposed, a seam has opened, or the area is past the limit on your box. If the compound arrives solid, that is a faulty kit under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Do I clean the leather first?
Take off dust so the paste or the patch can touch the surface. MastaPlasta wants the surface dry and dust-free, and says not to use a chemical cleaner first. For filler, follow the note in your box. If a water drop soaks into a hidden spot, treat the leather as absorbent and think again. Cleaner left wet on the arm is a common reason a patch edge lifts by morning.
What if the hole has nothing behind it?
Paste needs a floor. If the kit includes backing fabric, feed a piece behind the tear so it overlaps sound leather, then fill in thin layers. cenozo lists two pieces. Vigorder lists backing fabric. If the box has none and you can see foam, stop. A MastaPlasta roll covers from the front only when the edges stick to material that is still attached.
How do I mix a colour?
Use a small amount and judge the dab after it has dried. STARTSO buyers reported a slightly darker dry colour, and one mixed five shades. cenozo’s six tubes are for cream, white, light grey, and beige, and they missed a mid beige for one UK reviewer. Two black tubes cannot become brown. If the family is wrong, more mixing will not invent the missing pigment.
Can I use a hairdryer?
Only when your listing says so. cenozo claims 1 to 2 minutes with a hairdryer, against 10 to 20 minutes in air. BUDOCI says no heat is required. A WYCOON reviewer used heat on a cool day. Keep the dryer moving and low if you use one. High heat can mark the leather around the repair.
How do I apply a self-adhesive roll?
Cut it larger than the damage before you peel the backing. Press it onto a dry, dust-free surface with no chemical cleaner just applied. Land the edges on sound material, follow the curve, and do not bridge a seam. The listing’s full cure is 24 hours while the bond strengthens. A piece that barely covered a dog hole was pulled off overnight in a UK review. A larger overlap stayed.
Can I peel a patch off and restick it?
The first stick is the one to get right. Pulling a patch off aniline can leave a mark, according to MastaPlasta’s FAQ, and peeling bonded leather may come away with it. Lift immediately only if the surface is coated and sound. A second stick on dusty adhesive is how edges curl. Cut a fresh piece if the first one has picked up dust.
When can I sit on the repair?
For a MastaPlasta roll, the full cure on the listing is 24 hours, even if you press it down sooner while the bond strengthens. For filler, wait until the paste is no longer tacky, and longer on a seat than on a back. One STARTSO black repair cured rock hard, which is a poor surface to sit on. Keep claws and buckles off the edge for the first day.
