The airer is in the spare room and the glass has steamed over. A Trotec dehumidifier drying clothes can catch the moisture that wet washing puts into a room you shut and heat. It will not turn these three listings into a dryer. The tank is much smaller than the litre-per-day headline, so the job is emptying, or a short hose, while the shirts hang. What the manuals allow

Clothes drying is an intended use in the Trotec manuals, including the TTK 30 E, and on the TTK 53 E UK shop page. That allows the machine in the same room as an airer. It does not allow shirts on the case. Laundry mode is blank on all three amazon tables. If there is no laundry button, you have not bought the wrong machine. Set a humidity target and shut the room. A room at 5°C is a poor laundry cupboard for this set.

Tank versus a day's water

Amazon lists tanks of 2.2 litres (TTK 30 E), 2.8 litres (TTK 26 E), and 5.5 litres (TTK 53 E). The TTK 26 E manual and 2024 brochure say 1.8 litres, not 2.8. Which? collected about two litres from the air while drying other machines, which already fills the smaller tanks. The TTK 30 E manual ties 12 litres to 32°C and 80% relative humidity. The 5.5 litre tank is the least annoying on a working day. Who should skip which price is on best Trotec dehumidifier UK. The TTK 30 E hose is only 0.3 m.

How to set the room

Shut the door and the window. Put the airer in the same room as the machine, with a gap so sleeves do not drip on the case. The TTK 53 E clearances are on how to use a Trotec dehumidifier. Set the target near 55%, the TTK 30 E automatic preset, rather than 30% all afternoon. No laundry mode on the amazon table is not a hidden switch you missed. The TTK 26 E and TTK 53 E hygrostat cells are blank, so follow the booklet. Ideal Home's 4–6 hour drying range is not a timed test of these ASINs.

What the cost articles do not prove

Which? and energy.org.uk pence figures are not a bill for these three ASINs. Which? nearly halved drying time against no dehumidifier and collected about two litres, at about 26p per litre, with a heat-pump dryer around 35p a load. A separate Which? piece put a Best Buy dehumidifier at about 6p an hour, from 2p to 13p. None of that was metered on a TTK 30 E. energy.org.uk, on 3 October 2026, showed about 44p a load for dehumidifier plus airer against 66p for a dryer example, on their assumptions. Listing watts are not a metered bill. Which? also says a tumble dryer can still be cheaper per load. An unheated garage is the wrong room.

Common questions

Can a Trotec dehumidifier dry washing?
It can help dry the room the washing is in. The TTK 30 E manual treats clothes drying as an intended use, and the TTK 53 E UK shop page lists it too. You still need a shut, heated room and an airer. The machine collects water from the air. It does not tumble the clothes. Do not put garments on the case. The manuals forbid that, even where they allow the job.
Does the amazon table list a laundry mode?
No. Laundry mode is blank on the TTK 30 E and TTK 26 E tables, and the TTK 53 E amazon table does not name one either. The manuals and the TTK 53 E shop page still describe clothes drying. Absence of the words laundry mode on amazon is not proof the unit cannot run beside an airer. It does mean you should not expect a labelled button just because the shop text mentions shirts.
How big is the tank compared with a load?
The listing tanks are 2.2 litres, 2.8 litres, and 5.5 litres. The TTK 26 E manual says 1.8 litres, so treat 2.8 as disputed. Which?'s trial on other machines collected about two litres from the air, which already fills the smaller Trotec tanks once. A 12 litre daily claim is several tank loads only if the room is warm and wet enough. Most UK rooms will not get there.
Should the window be open?
Keep it shut while the dehumidifier runs. An open window lets moist air in and warm air out, and the tank fills more slowly for the same electricity. Ventilate the room before or after the drying session if it feels stale. Do not run the unit as a substitute for dealing with a leak or with mould that is already spread across a wall.
Is it cheaper than a tumble dryer?
Not on a figure we can attach to these ASINs. Which? has examples where a dehumidifier costs less per load than some dryers, and the same coverage says a tumble dryer can still be cheaper per load. energy.org.uk's 44p against 66p is their calculator, dated 3 October 2026, not a meter on the TTK 30 E. Use those pieces as context. Do not write them into a Trotec running cost.
Will it dry clothes in a cold room?
Poorly, or not at all, once the room is at or below 5°C. These three are condensation machines. The manuals start at 5°C, and the TTK 26 E manual says the unit may not start below that. A heated spare room is the laundry setup they are built for. An unheated garage is the case for a different type of dryer, not a longer run of the TTK 30 E.
