Kränzle pressure washer 13 amp

Updated: 21.10.2026

A British outdoor socket is a 13 A point on a BS 1363 plug, and a Kränzle pressure washer is not automatically a 13 A machine. Some of these models draw about 7.5 A. Others sit at 11 A or, in the wider K 1152 catalogue, about 12 A. This page is for a buyer whose only outdoor supply is that socket: which published current fits, and when the RCD means you stop. The [Kränzle pressure washer comparison](/hub/compressors/kraenzle-pressure-washer) holds the listings and the prices. Water, the bucket test, and backflow stay on the how-to page. Products Compared used Electrical Safety First, the HSE’s 30 mA note, and Kränzle’s lead guidance. We did not load-test a socket.

What a 13 A socket can feed

UK mains are 230 V. A 13 A fuse is the ceiling of a normal plug, not a target. Comfortable on a sound supply: the Quickly at about 7.9 A on the manufacturer page, the HD 7/122 TS at about 7.5 A, and the K 1050 at about 9.6 A. Nearer the fuse: the HD 10/122 TS at about 11 A, and the K 1152 series at about 12 A in the catalogue. The 7.5 A and 11 A figures are the HD TS sheets. The non-TS listings do not state a current, so do not copy the TS sibling onto them. The catalogue’s 12 A is not part 412182, the £1,246.83 listing, which states no amps. A K 1050 at about 9.6 A is the ordinary house case on a short lead. An HD 10/122 TS at about 11 A still fits under 13 A on paper and leaves little room for a long lead. The K 1050 versus HD 122 page sets out that flow trade-off.

Extension leads

Kränzle’s 1150 handbook asks for an earthed extension, at least 1.5 mm², and 2.5 mm² when the lead is longer than 10 m. Connectors should be splash-proof and off the wet floor, and the lead fully unwound. A coiled reel holds heat in the drum, and its rating often falls to a few amps until the cable is off. That is the failure with an 11 A washer and a half-used reel. Prefer a longer high-pressure hose to a longer mains lead. If 10 m on the HD listings, or 12 m on the K 1050 TST, still leaves you short, add high-pressure hose. Unwind the lead, look for cuts, and keep the jet off sockets.

A generator is a separate supply

A generator is a separate supply. Kränzle UK prefers the slower HD 7/122 without Total Stop on a generator. Do not put the 11 A HD 10/122 TS on a small generator because the plug fits. Match the generator’s continuous rating, or ask an electrician.

UK plug and RCD

The plug you want is a BS 1363 3-pin plug with a fuse. Kränzle UK states a moulded 3-pin plug on the UK HD 7/122. That is not a promise for the Quickly, the K 1152, or every K 1050 offer. A Schuko plug, or a lead with the plug cut off, is a return. Outdoor sockets need RCD protection at not more than 30 mA. Press the test button before you start. If it trips when the washer starts, unplug and find the fault. Do not bypass the RCD. Spraying the socket, standing the machine in a puddle under the connectors, or working from a ladder are reasons to stop. If the RCD will not hold, or the plug is not a UK plug, get an electrician. The water side is the how to use a Kränzle pressure washer page.

Common questions

Will a K 1050 run on a 13 A socket?
Yes, on the published figure. The K 1050 TS sheet lists about 9.6 A at 230 V, which sits under a 13 A fuse with some spare, provided the lead is suitable and unwound. Confirm the plug is a UK 3-pin. The amazon K 1050 P title says 230 V and does not itself print the amp draw, so the 9.6 A comes from the model sheet.
Is 11 A on an HD 10/122 TS too close to the fuse?
It fits under 13 A and leaves little margin. The HD 10/122 TS sheet is the source of the 11 A figure. Use a sound outdoor socket and no coiled reel. If the lead must be long, or the socket already shares a spur with other load, the HD 7/122 TS at about 7.5 A is the more comfortable compact machine, at the cost of flow.
How do I know the plug is a UK plug?
It is a three-pin BS 1363 plug with a fuse. Kränzle UK states a moulded plug of that kind on the UK HD 7/122 page. Check every other listing yourself. A two-pin European plug is the wrong plug for a British outdoor socket, even if a travel adapter seems to fit.
Can I run the 7/122 from a generator?
Kränzle UK points to the slower 7/122, and prefers the version without Total Stop, when the supply is a generator. Match the generator’s continuous rating to the washer’s load, with margin. The 11 A HD 10/122 TS is a poorer generator load than the 7.5 A machine, and a plug that fits is not the same as a generator that can hold the current.
What should I do if the RCD trips?
Unplug the washer and leave the RCD in the tripped state until you know why. Check the lead, the plug, and whether water reached a connector. Do not reset it and carry on, and do not bypass it. If it trips again with the washer unplugged, or the machine lead is damaged, that is an electrician’s job. Then sort the water side separately, using the how-to, if the inlet was the other fault.
