Silverfish trap buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

You have found a silver insect by the bath or along a skirting, and the next purchase is a trap rather than a spray. This silverfish trap buying guide settles the format before the brand: a folded cardboard station, a paper strip you tear into smaller pads, or a small plastic box with a bait tablet. Pack size only helps after the room matches that format, and a star rating does not dry a damp wall. Named listings and the prices in pounds sit on the [Silverfish trap](/hub/traps/silverfish-trap) comparison. The figures here are amazon.co.uk shelf prices and star lines captured on 19 October 2026. Peter F. checked them. None of the packs was tested in a lab. A qualifying Amazon purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Three formats you can actually buy

The folded cardboard station is the usual box in this set. Super Ninja, Felyne, NUTKIT and DBUG are sold as peel-and-fold cards, often with the lure already in the glue, and several of them claim a life of up to three months. You fold the card so the adhesive faces inward, then set it on an edge the insect already uses. A divisible strip is the second format. Veddelholzer’s listing, twelve pieces at £9.95, says the extra-large trap can be torn down, and a UK reviewer described six strips becoming twelve traps. EcoPest is the other perforated sheet, at £17.49, with a scented lure rather than an odourless one. Its raw file does not agree with itself: the unit count says 12, the style says 20 Pack, the piece count says 20, and a bullet says 12 traps or six longer ones. The third format is the covered plastic station. ENTOEND, sold by Hockley International, is a pack of five at £11.99. You put a separate bait tablet in the centre, fold the lid, and place the station with the single hole facing up. The listing claims up to four weeks in damp conditions. If the room is steamy, start with this shape and read the silverfish trap bathroom page before you add more cardboard.

What the price bands buy

Entry prices in this capture run from about £7 to £10. NUTKIT’s 10-pack title is £7.19, Super Ninja’s 4-pack is £7.99, and both Veddelholzer’s 12-piece strip and Felyne’s 10-pack are £9.95. That money buys monitors for a few skirtings. It does not buy a guarantee that the glue will be visited. Felyne’s 4.3 from 10 reviews looks stronger than EcoPest’s 3.7 from 830, and it is not. A small sample moves when one or two comments change. The middle band is about £12 to £17.50. DBUG’s 10 stations are £11.99, ENTOEND’s five plastic stations are £11.99, Super Ninja’s 10-pack is £12.99, PIC’s 40 paper traps are £12.99, and EcoPest is £17.49. PIC is about 32p a trap if you use the title count of 40. Super Ninja’s 10-pack is about £1.30 each, and ENTOEND is about £2.40 each. The cheap unit price on PIC is a lot of pads, not a drier room. Yineaae sits outside those bands at £22.99 for a 20-pack with one review, scored 1.0, which says the traps were of no use. The catalogue dimensions, 30 by 20 by 40 mm, look small for a 20-pack and should stay unverified. If you want a named fit and a named skip for each job, the best silverfish trap UK page does that without turning a star into a cure.

What up to three months does not settle

Up to 3 months is a seller’s wording for glue life on several cardboard packs. Dust, steam, and an insect that never walks that edge end the useful life sooner. Russell IPM specifies a replacement every 6 to 8 weeks for its own Silvercheck station, and that interval belongs to Silvercheck, not to these amazon.co.uk packs. Date the trap you set. Replace it when it is dusty, full, wet, or at the interval the listing actually states.

Insecticide-free lines and catalogue clashes

Insecticide-free and non-toxic are seller lines as well. The Health and Safety Executive says a device that works only by physical means can sit outside biocides rules, while food supplied to attract insects into a trap can fall inside them. None of these listings shows an HSE approval number. The glue still sticks to skin and fur, so a child or a pet should not be able to lie on an open pad. Two catalogue fields are simply at odds with the product text. DBUG and EcoPest both carry an Is Electric: Yes flag next to a glue description, and DBUG is also ranked under Rodent Control. Do not plug either of them in, and do not set them for mice. If you are not sure the insect is the common bathroom species, the silverfish or paperfish page is the next read, because drying one wet room is the wrong main job when the activity is in a dry living room.

Common questions

Should I buy cardboard or a plastic station?
Buy cardboard when the spot stays dry: a skirting in a hallway, a cupboard, or the edge of a bookcase. Buy the plastic five-pack when the glue has to sit in a bathroom or under a sink, because the listing is the one that claims a cover for damp conditions. That four-week line is still a seller claim.
Is a 40-pack better than a 5-pack?
Only if you need many small pads and you already know where they will sit. PIC’s 40 traps at £12.99 are about 32p each on the title count. ENTOEND’s five stations are about £2.40 each and they are the covered format. A low price per trap does not dry a room, and most written comments on the PIC page are not from the UK.
What does up to 3 months mean?
It is the seller’s claim for how long the glue stays usable, not a test that your house will be clear for a quarter. Dust, steam and a route the insect never takes end the useful life sooner. Russell IPM’s own station is specified at 6 to 8 weeks, and that figure is not a result for these ASINs.
Are insecticide-free traps safe for pets?
The listings say they do not contain an insecticide. That is not an approval, and it does not mean a dog, a cat or a child can touch the glue. Reviewers stick the cards to their fingers during folding, and the adhesive will hold fur the same way. Put the station where a pet cannot lie on it.
Why do the unit counts disagree with the title?
EcoPest’s file says 12 in one field, 20 in others, and a bullet that offers 12 traps or six longer ones. NUTKIT’s title and piece count say 10, and the unit-count field says 1. Skip a pack you cannot count before you plan a room around it.
Do I need a different trap for paperfish?
Not a different glue chemistry. PIC and Veddelholzer name paperfish on the listing, and that sentence does not identify the insect in your house. Grey silverfish cope with drier rooms than the common bathroom species, so a dehumidifier in the bath can be the wrong main job. Use a trap as a monitor along the skirting where you saw them.
