Danfoss thermostat buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You already know you want Danfoss, and the search results still mix three different parts. A cracked head on a bedroom radiator, a Bluetooth head for one room, and a 230 V wall thermostat for the boiler are not interchangeable, even when amazon.co.uk lists them under one brand. This Danfoss thermostat buying guide sorts the seven listings in our [Danfoss thermostat comparison](/hub/thermostats/danfoss-thermostat) by the job they actually do. If the valve is a Danfoss RA click body, you are looking at a head. If the hallway plate feeds the boiler, you are looking at a wall stat. Prices below are the GBP shelf figures in that comparison. Products Compared did not run a lab test. A purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Three Danfoss jobs

A liquid radiator head only closes the valve it sits on. It does not tell the boiler to stop, and it does not learn a timetable. In this set that job is the Danfoss Redia RA click, code 015G5120, at £16.99, or the Danfoss RAS-C2, code 013G6040, at £30.18. UK reviews describe both as replacements for an older Danfoss head. The Redia bullets specify a tool-free click onto a Danfoss RA valve. The RAS-C2 bullets describe a head-only swap and claim no leakage if the valve body stays put. Neither listing is a schedule. If you need the thread identified before you order, use the Danfoss RA or M30 page rather than guessing from the brand name.

A programmable head on one radiator

The second job still lives on one radiator. The Danfoss Eco, code 014G1115, at £33.95, uses Bluetooth and two AA batteries. Danfoss support puts the range at about 10 m, and UK reviews say you cannot change it from work. You accept a 3.8 rating from 550 reviews, with slow Bluetooth, overshoot and an E6 fault in the written texts. It fits if you want one room cooler while the rest of the heating stays on, and you are in that room to change it. The bullets include adaptors for Danfoss bodies and for M30 or M28. The line about 95% of radiators is a listing claim. A ranked view of the three heads is on the best Danfoss radiator thermostat page, which keeps the £280 wall stat out of that decision.

A wall thermostat on the boiler side

The third job is a wall thermostat. The Danfoss TPOne at £32.49 is a hardwired programmable room stat on a 230 V listing, with only eight reviews. One UK review matched TP5000 fixing holes. The other reports a fault and no reply. The Danfoss TP5000Si is also hardwired, titled as not RF, and this listing is £280, with 4.3 from 394 reviews. That price is why those stars are not a reason to buy it first. The RET2001 at £52.05 does not state a voltage, and one UK reviewer needed an electrician because two wires met three terminals. The BasicPlus2 WT-D at £80 claims Wi-Fi in a single bullet, and the written reviews are from Germany, so they are not UK evidence. A wall stat can call the boiler. A head cannot take that role because you turned the dial up.

What a new head does not do

Swapping a Redia or a RAS-C2 does not add boiler interlock, and it does not meet Boiler Plus on a gas combi. Danfoss’s Part L page treats time control, boiler interlock and one extra Boiler Plus measure as separate from the TRVs. For a gas combi in an existing English home, Boiler Plus still asks for weather compensation, load compensation, flue-gas heat recovery, or a qualifying smart control. A liquid head is not that measure, and this Eco listing is not automatically that measure either. Approved Document L, as BEAMA summarises it for England, expects a room thermostat in a reference room and TRVs on the other emitters when a heat generator is replaced. Which room keeps the wall stat sits on the room thermostat or TRV page. If the pin is stuck or you are replacing the boiler, that is a heating engineer’s job. None of these seven listings is a plug-in stat on a UK 13 A plug.

Common questions

Do I need a head or a wall stat?
You need a head if one radiator should limit itself and the boiler controls are already in place. You need a wall stat if the plate on the wall is what calls the boiler or the zone. In this set the Redia and the RAS-C2 are heads, the Eco is a Bluetooth head, and the TPOne, RET2001, TP5000Si and BasicPlus2 are wall listings. A new head does not become a boiler control because you turned the dial to 5.
Will the Eco change the heating while I am at work?
No. The Danfoss Eco bullets and Danfoss support describe Bluetooth at about 10 m, which is the same room or a nearby hallway, not a connection from the office. UK reviews say the link is slow unless you are close, or you press the button or turn the ring. Alexa, where a reviewer mentioned it, needed a separate device. If you need a change while you are out, this listing is the wrong job.
Is the £280 TP5000Si the premium Danfoss stat?
It is a hardwired programmable room thermostat, and the title says it is not RF. The 4.3 rating from 394 reviews is real on this amazon.co.uk listing, and UK reviews describe a backplate swap. The £280 price is also real on this listing, and it sits far above the TPOne at £32.49. A high price here is not evidence of Wi-Fi. Attribute lines that say Wi-Fi conflict with the title.
What if the valve is not Danfoss RA?
Do not order the Redia. Its bullets specify a Danfoss RA click connection, and pushing harder will not turn that into an M30x1.5 thread. The RAS-C2 listing does not name M30 either. The Eco is the listing whose bullets claim adaptors for M30 or M28 as well as Danfoss bodies. How to tell the mounts apart is on the RA or M30 page, and a stuck pin means you stop and call an engineer.
Does a new head satisfy Boiler Plus?
No. Boiler Plus on a gas combi in an existing English dwelling asks for one extra measure, such as weather compensation, load compensation, flue-gas heat recovery, or a qualifying smart control. A Redia or RAS-C2 head is not that measure. The Eco in this set is not automatically that measure either. TRVs still belong on the other radiators, beside a room thermostat, which is a different requirement.
Can I wire the RET2001 from the listing alone?
The raw file does not state a voltage, so you cannot take a supply figure from this listing. One UK review had black and brown only, and three terminals on the stat. Danfoss support did not say which terminal to leave unused, and an electrician neighbour fitted it. If the conductors are unexplained, leave the plate off and get a competent person.
