Oval pool for a small garden

Updated: October 2026

The lawn is a strip beside the patio, or the whole garden is the terrace, and a round pool would eat the path to the bins. An oval looks like the shape that might fit along the fence. This page follows that plot through the four amazon.co.uk ovals in the [oval pool comparison](/hub/swimming-pools/oval-pool), and it stops at clearance, slope and water weight. Prices as filed on 16 October 2026 run from £548.61 to £1,936.75. There was no site survey of your garden. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Which of these ovals is even small

Two of the four are short enough to be candidates. The Bestway title is 10 ft by 6 ft 7 in by 33 in, about 3.05 m by 2.00 m if you convert the title. The attribute block prints 3.05 m by 3.05 m, a square. The Funsicle title is 9 ft 10 in by 6 ft 7 in by 33 in, at £748.46. Both are frame kits about 33 in high, and both need a path around them. Summer Fun’s title is 3.00 m by 5.00 m by 1.20 m. Planet Pool is 6.00 m by 3.20 m by 1.50 m. Six metres by 3.2 m is a large oval, and the recess claim makes it larger in the ground. The Bestway names a pump. The Funsicle names a pump at 110 to 120 V. A shop page for the same nominal size quotes about 3.05 m by 2.00 m by 84 cm. It is not proof that ASIN B0GMJ67VPC’s attribute block is oval, because that block is square. Frame versus shell, once the plot can take either, is on steel wall pool vs frame pool.

Clearance you were not quoted

The water is the inner size. You still walk around the outside, and an oval’s straight sides need support a round pool can avoid. Trade notes on buttresses talk about external braces adding on the order of 3 ft. None of these four listings prints that allowance. Add a path you can carry a hose along, and keep fences, bins and climbable furniture out of that strip. On a terrace that is 4 m wide, a 3 m by 2 m pool loses the path and you climb the rail to reach the far side. Mark the title size, then a strip for your feet, and see whether the kitchen door still opens. A patio that falls towards a drain is a tilted base. The water will sit deep on the low side. Prove that with a shallow fill, on how to set up an oval pool. If you cannot correct the fall, the short frame still does not fit.

Patio, lawn and deck

The empty Bestway carton is 31.8 kg. That number is how you carry the box through the hall. It is not the load on the patio. Water is about a kilogram per litre. The Bestway states 969 gallons and does not say US or imperial. If those gallons were US gallons, 969 is about 3.7 tonnes, and the listing did not choose that label. Either way you are in tonnes. A UK seller’s load note uses a larger example: a 5 m round pool at 1.2 m is on the order of 23 tonnes, and ordinary decks are built for people. A forum thread cites about 150 kg/m², on the order of 150 mm of water. That thread is opinion, and it is not a calculation for your joists. Put a short frame on a patio only when the slabs can take a few tonnes and the fall is slight enough to correct. Leave it off domestic decking unless a structural check says the joists were designed for that water. Summer Fun’s 13,500 litres, about 13.5 tonnes, is a harder no on the same deck.

What family sized meant in the reviews

The Funsicle bullets claim up to four or five people. Reviews on that listing, marked United States or Canada, call the pool smaller than that claim and call the pump weak. Family sized on a 33 in oval of about 10 ft often means several people standing in a puddle. The Bestway file has no reviews, and the Funsicle pump is still the wrong voltage for a UK socket. RoSPA’s drowning advice is supervision and a barrier with a self-locking gate, and it asks you to move climbable objects away from the fence. A small garden puts the pool next to chairs, bins and the house wall. A 33 in wall is easier to enter than a 1.20 m shell. The short frame can fit the terrace and still be a poor choice if you cannot watch it and you cannot barrier it.

Common questions

Will a 10 ft by 6 ft 7 in oval fit a terrace?
The title size is about 3.05 m by 2.00 m of water, plus a path the listing does not dimension. Tape the title, then a walking strip, and see if the door still opens. The Bestway attribute prints 3.05 m by 3.05 m. The 5 m and 6 m shells are the wrong length for that terrace.
How many people is that pool really for?
The Funsicle claims four or five people, and reviews marked United States or Canada say the pool is smaller than the claim. A 33 in frame of about 10 ft is a splash, not a length to swim. The 5 m and 6 m shells need a larger garden.
Can it sit on the patio?
It can sit on a patio whose fall you can correct and whose slabs can carry the water, which is tonnes, not the 31.8 kg carton. If you cannot level the fall without breaking the drainage, choose another spot.
Can it sit on decking?
Ordinary decking is built for people, and a full pool is tonnes of water on the joists. A forum figure of about 150 kg/m² is not a survey of your deck. Have the structure checked, or keep the pool off it.
How much clearance do the sides need?
These listings do not state it. An oval’s straight sides need braces or under-floor straps, and a trade note puts external braces on the order of 3 ft. Add a path you can walk with a hose, and keep climbable objects off that strip. A pool that touches the fence on the long side has no exit and no room for a support the booklet may require.
What weight hits the ground once it is full?
About a kilogram per litre of water, on top of the shell. The Bestway’s 969 gallons are untyped. Labelled as US gallons they are about 3.7 tonnes, and the listing did not confirm that gallon. Summer Fun states 13,500 litres, about 13.5 tonnes.
