Bestway pool filter pump

Updated: 21 October 2026

The listing bullet says a filter pump is included, and a week later the water looks milky even though you can hear the motor. You are either checking the box before you buy, or troubleshooting a pump that never worked or never kept up. The [Bestway pool comparison](/hub/swimming-pools/bestway-pool) only marks whether filtration is listed. This page covers flow where it is printed, cartridges, the UK plug and extension leads, and what a pump cannot do. These listings do not specify chlorine doses, so none appear below. Which Bestway pools in this set include a pump

Six of the eight listings saved on 19 October 2026 name a filter pump: the 10 ft MAX, the 366 × 100 cm MAX, the 14 ft MAX, the 12 ft Steel Pro, the older 10 ft Steel Pro, and Fast Set 57266. The rectangle at 3.00 × 2.01 m does not list one. Fast Set 57456 has no pump line in the captured file. Flow is patchy. The tall MAX prints 2,006 l/h. The 14 ft MAX prints 530 gal (2,006 L) and a Type III cartridge. The 12 ft Steel Pro says up to 530 gallons and does not say per hour. The 10 ft MAX and Fast Set 57266 list a pump with no flow. The top pick on best Bestway pool includes a pump. UK reviews still call that 10 ft MAX filter too small for 4,678 litres. Included means present, not adequate.

Why owners call it too small

Reviews of the 10 ft MAX tie cloudy water within days to the supplied cartridge. A pump that runs, and never turns the volume over, looks fine and still fails the job. Dead-on-arrival units appear too, including a UK note that the 12 ft Steel Pro filter did not run at first delivery. Bestway UK’s no-power page starts with the socket, another appliance in that outlet, and the cord. The Review Guy’s MAX write-up describes a later sand filter. That is one owner, not a rule. Type III is named only on the 14 ft listing. Other sets need the booklet or the housing label.

Power, plugs, and extension leads

Bestway UK and the Flowclear manual say not to run these pumps on an extension lead. Electrical Safety First and the HSE point to a 30 mA RCD for outdoor equipment. Foot distances from a US manual are not British rules. One UK review of the 366 × 100 cm MAX reports an EU-to-UK adaptor that did not fit a UK socket. The listing does not state plug type. If the plug is wrong, stop. Use the retailer or a proper BS 1363 connection. Do not modify the cord. A new outdoor circuit is electrician work. If you can only reach an indoor socket through a door, plan outdoor power before you assume the pump will run all summer. A quiet motor and cloudy water is a cartridge and runtime question, not proof the impeller is broken. The first fill is on how to set up a Bestway pool.

Cartridges and what a pump does not clean

A filtration pump circulates water and catches debris. It is not a sanitiser. These listings do not specify chlorine doses, so none are given here. Cloudy water can be hours, a cartridge, or chemistry. Supervision of a full pool is still an adult’s job. When you drain, do not send untreated pool water to a watercourse or a storm drain. GOV.UK separates a pool drain-down from household sewage in the wrong pipe, and still bars that dump. Empty toward a soakaway, and think of neighbours. Type III names the cartridge family on the 14 ft bundle only. Smaller sets need the housing label. If the pump is missing, as on the rectangular Steel Pro at about £113.25, buy one rated for a similar above-ground volume and match the hoses to the ports. Whether a pump is listed at all is part of the Bestway pool buying guide.

Common questions

Does my set include a pump?
Six of eight captured listings say yes. The rectangular Steel Pro does not list one. Fast Set 57456 has no pump line in this file. Included means present, not that a flow is printed.
Is the included pump big enough?
Often disputed on the larger volumes. The 10 ft MAX lists a pump, prints no flow, and UK reviews call the filter too small for 4,678 litres. The tall MAX is the listing that prints 2,006 l/h.
What cartridge do I need?
Type III is stated on the 14 ft MAX only. Other models need the booklet or the label on the pump housing. A clogged cartridge can look like a weak pump.
The pump has no power. What does Bestway say to check?
The socket, no extension lead, the cord, and another appliance in the same outlet, per Bestway UK. That checklist does not cover a motor that runs while the water stays cloudy.
Can I use an extension lead?
Bestway says no, and the Flowclear manual says the same. Use an outdoor socket on a 30 mA RCD. A new circuit is electrician work.
Does a pump replace chlorine, and what if the plug does not fit?
No. Filtration and sanitation are separate, and these listings do not state a dose. One UK review of the tall MAX reports an EU-to-UK adaptor that did not fit. Stop, and do not modify the cord.
