Bestway pool buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

You have cleared a patch of lawn and you are staring at eight Bestway listings that all say 10 ft or Steel Pro without making the choice obvious. This Bestway pool buying guide is the trade-off before the ranked table: frame or inflatable ring, how much space the kept sizes need, and what the box often leaves out. Prices are the pounds captured from amazon.co.uk on 19 October 2026, not a live checkout total. There was no laboratory test. A purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The scored listings are in the [Bestway pool comparison](/hub/swimming-pools/bestway-pool).

Frame, MAX, or Fast Set

A Steel Pro or Steel Pro MAX stands on poles, with the liner hung in the frame. A Fast Set has no poles: you inflate the top ring and the wall rises as you fill. Steel Pro here is model 56407 at 10 ft, the 12 ft round, and rectangular 56404. Steel Pro MAX is the 366 × 100 cm set, the 10 ft MAX at about £119.99, and the 14 ft MAX at about £463.23. Fast Set 57266 is about £39.25 with a full bullet list. Model 57456 is about £38.06 and has almost no specification table in the captured file. The build difference is on Bestway Steel Pro vs Fast Set.

Size and stated capacity

Start with footprint. A 3.05 m circle is roughly 7.3 square metres before a walk path. A 3.66 m circle is about 10.5 square metres, and the 4.27 m 14 ft MAX is about 14.3. The rectangle at 3.00 × 2.01 m fits a long lawn where a circle wastes the corners. The 366 × 100 cm MAX quotes 9,150 litres at 90 percent fill. Several round sets are a 76 cm wall, sit-in depth rather than swimming depth. The metre wall is the waist-deep frame in this set. The 12 ft Steel Pro states 1,710 gallons. The 10 ft MAX states 4,678 litres. On Fast Set 57266, use 3.05 m × 76 cm and 3,800 litres, not the technical row of about 120 cm. One named pick is on best Bestway pool.

What is actually in the box

A pump, a patch, a drain and a ladder are not on every listing. Only the 366 × 100 cm MAX states a ladder, at 107 cm, with flow at 2,006 l/h. The 10 ft MAX includes a pump and a patch, and no ladder or flow. The rectangle lists a patch and a drain valve and does not list a pump. The older 10 ft Steel Pro includes a pump and ChemConnect, and no patch on that components line. Covers are vaguer. Several pages ask if a cover is included and do not say yes. The 12 ft Steel Pro marks a cover and a ground cloth as possible, and a UK reviewer says the ground sheet was missing. Buy both unless the components line names them. Read pump, patch, ladder and drain before you compare price.

Ground, power, and England’s planning limits

Level ground, no sand under one side, and no extension lead are Bestway’s own limits. A bulge means drain and re-level. The steps are on how to set up a Bestway pool. In England, Class E of the GPDO 2015 can cover a pool incidental to the house, not forward of the principal elevation, and not beside a listed building. In an AONB, the Broads, a National Park or a World Heritage Site, a pool more than 20 metres from the house counts toward a 10 square metre cap. A 3.66 m circle exceeds that cap on geometry alone. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland use different rules. Ask the council on designated or listed land. Pumps are 230 V outdoor loads. Electrical Safety First and the HSE point to a 30 mA RCD. A new circuit is electrician work.

Common questions

Steel frame or Fast Set for a normal UK garden?
Choose a Steel Pro or Steel Pro MAX to stay up all summer on level ground, and store the poles dry. Choose the 10 ft Fast Set near £40 if you will check the ring. Skip 57456 unless the live listing restores a full specification.
How much lawn does a 10 ft round pool need?
Mark a 3.05 m circle plus a walk path, roughly 7.3 m² before edging. On designated land in England, far from the house, compare that footprint with the 10 m² cap.
Does the set include a pump, a cover and a ladder?
Only the tall MAX lists a ladder, at 107 cm. Six of eight listings include a pump. The rectangle does not list one, and 57456 has no pump line in the captured file. Covers are rarely confirmed.
Do I need planning permission in England?
Class E permitted development often applies, and not on every listed or designated plot. More than 20 metres from the house in an AONB, the Broads, a National Park or a World Heritage Site, the pool counts toward a 10 m² cap. Ask the council.
Will the grass die underneath?
Heavy water compresses turf. Many owners accept dead grass for a season, or they use a ground cloth on level concrete or paving where the rules allow. Clear sharp stones either way.
What should I ignore on a listing that also shows a 120 cm size?
On Fast Set 57266, use the 3.05 m bullets and 3,800 litres. The technical row of about 120 cm conflicts with that pool. Do not mark the lawn from it.
