Sekey parasol buying guide

Updated: 22.10.2026

You are on amazon.co.uk with a patio table in mind, and the Sekey garden parasol in the photo looks finished. The raw title often stops at a crank and a colour. Diameter, pole millimetres, and the base decide whether it stands. This Sekey parasol buying guide is the checklist before you pay: read the size chip, match it to the seats, then buy a base for the pole you selected. It does not name a winner. The [Sekey parasol comparison](/hub/sun-shades/sekey-parasol) is the table. Prices and stars are amazon.co.uk figures saved on 21 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What the Sekey title leaves out

The raw titles are thinner than the page you click. Parent listing B0FQ9PWS77 carries three prices, about £31.56, about £37.71, and about £40.76. They share 4.2 from 115 ratings, and only one rating is a UK review. The raw wording does not print a diameter. On 21 October 2026 the live chip offered 200 cm, 270 cm, and 300 cm, with 200 cm selected, and a bullet said 32 mm and 160 g/m². That bullet is a dated check, not the raw title. The auto-tilt title is about £73.35, with a chip of 220 cm or 270 cm that day. The rectangular crank is about £47.12, with a chip of 210 × 140 cm or 200 × 300 cm, which the raw title does not print. Consumer Rights Act 2015 section 9 expects the goods to match the description. Only the about £73.35 title states auto tilt. Who each line is for sits on best Sekey parasol.

Match the canopy to the seats, not the photo

UK shops size a parasol against the furniture, and they do not agree on one number. Rackhams puts 2–2.5 m on a bistro set and 2.7–3 m on a four- to six-seat table. Cape & Co and White Stores also put about 2 m on two seats. None of them splits the 200 cm chip from the 270 cm chip, so you do that on the day you order. A selected 200 cm chip is the two-seat band. If you need the larger band, select 270 cm and expect a heavier base. A 210 × 140 cm rectangle is a short balcony cover. The 200 × 300 cm chip is the long one, and the raw file states neither size.

Pole and base before you pay

None of these raw titles includes a base. You pay for the canopy and the pole, and the weight is a second basket. Opal Retail's guide, which does not name these ASINs, says 38 mm and 48 mm are the common diameters, with reducer rings often sold for 32, 38, and 48 mm. A 32 mm pole in a 38 mm sleeve is loose. A 38 mm pole will not enter a 32 mm sleeve at all. On 21 October 2026 the selected bullet on the shared parent said 32 mm. Do not copy that figure onto the auto-tilt or rectangle pages. Measure the tube before you order a base. A hole in the tabletop is not a base.

What UV50+ is allowed to mean

Sellers print UV50+. The clothing standard does not apply to an umbrella. BSI's scope for BS EN 13758-1:2002 says the method is not for fabrics that protect at a distance, such as umbrellas. GOV.UK says UPF is for clothing, and that only clothing at UPF 40 or above is marked sun-protective under BS EN 13758-2. A UV50+ line on a Sekey bullet is the seller's wording. It is not a certificate, and the saved files have no lab report. Shade still helps on a bright patio. It does not replace sunscreen. The 160 g/m² figure was on the 200 cm bullet that day, not a shared spec for the other two lines. If the box arrives at the wrong diameter, photograph the label and the chip, and use Amazon's return while it is open.

Common questions

Does a Sekey parasol include the base?
No. The raw titles here do not include a base. You buy the canopy and the pole. A cross-foot in the photo is not a components line. Budget a second item and match its sleeve to the pole on the chip you selected. A table hole reduces the weight. It does not replace a sleeve.
Is the photo a cantilever?
These files are centre-pole crank parasols. The titles do not say cantilever, banana, or 360° rotation. An offset mast in a stock photo is a different product, with a heavier base and a clear floor. If you need that clear floor, leave this set. If the table has a hole, the centre pole is what these listings describe.
Which size is selected on the chip?
On 21 October 2026 the shared parent listed 200, 270, and 300 cm, with 200 cm selected. The auto-tilt chip listed 220 or 270 cm. The rectangle listed 210 × 140 cm or 200 × 300 cm. Those figures were not all in the raw titles. Check the live chip on the day you order, and write down the option that shows as selected.
Will 32 mm fit a 38 mm sleeve?
A 32 mm pole sits loose in a 38 mm socket, and Opal notes that a loose pole can spin. Reducer rings are sold in 32, 38, and 48 mm for that reason. The 32 mm figure is the bullet on the shared parent when 200 cm was selected on 21 October 2026, not a brand-wide fact. Do not assume the other two lines are 32 mm.
Is UV50+ a British Standard test for umbrellas?
No. BS EN 13758-1 is a method for apparel fabrics, and BSI excludes fabrics that protect at a distance, such as umbrellas. GOV.UK treats UPF as a clothing mark, with sun-protective labelling for clothing of UPF 40 or above under BS EN 13758-2. UV50+ on a parasol bullet is advertising unless a test report is attached. None is attached in the files we saved.
Is 2 m enough for four people at a table?
Not for four diners. Those shops put about 2 m on a two-seat bistro set, and Rackhams puts 2.7–3 m on a four- to six-seat table. If the parent offers 270 cm, that chip needs its own base weight. A photo of a crowded lunch does not change the chip.
