Schneider parasol buying guide

Updated: 22.10.2026

You are choosing a first Schneider parasol for a UK balcony or patio, and the logo does not tell you the span. This Schneider parasol buying guide uses the five listings on our [Schneider parasol comparison](/hub/sun-shades/schneider-parasol): Locarno at about 150 cm, Ibiza at about 180 x 120 cm, Malaga at about 300 cm, and Salerno at 300 x 150 cm. Decide the printed span, then the opener on that ASIN, then the UV line, then the pole for a stand you buy separately. Captured prices run from about £36.08 to about £198.85. A later snippet showed Locarno nearer £42.02. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What span you are actually buying

Span is the decision the logo hides. Locarno model 715-02 is a round canopy of about 150 cm, size line 150 x 150 x 220 cm, item weight 1.99 kg. That covers a small balcony chair or a compact café table. It does not cover a 3 m dining table. Blue Ibiza 682-09 and anthracite Ibiza 682-15 are rectangles of about 180 x 120 cm with a valance. Malaga 614-02 is the only kept listing at about 300 cm round: 300 x 300 x 265 cm, 7 kg, an 8-part canopy. Salerno 746-02 is 300 x 150 cm. It is long enough for a tight balcony run and the wrong shape for a round table with people on every side. If the choice is a narrow balcony or a round patio table, follow it on the balcony or patio page. Measure the table first, then keep the listing whose canopy is printed at that size.

Opener and what the box names

The cards do not use one opener phrase. Locarno's bullets describe a slider with a button and a metal tilt with a push button. Blue Ibiza is a slider with manual tilt. Anthracite Ibiza says manual lift and rotational tilt. Salerno's opening row says crank lift, with manual tilt, for a tight gap such as between a balcony parapet and the floor above. Malaga's spec block is silent. Reviews there describe a rope and a locking pin, and no tilt. That stays a review comment. None of the five included-components lines names a base. Salerno names a protective cover and an air vent. The others do not name a cover. The socket for 22/25 mm or 38 mm is a separate purchase, on the Schneider parasol base and pole page. In Salerno's first 50 written reviews, 21 are marked United Kingdom, and several describe the winder failing, from a second use to about 14 months.

UV lines that do not match across listings

UV wording is a claim on the listing, not a result we tested. Locarno says UV 50+ according to the Hohenstein Institute, on polyester of about 160 g/m². Anthracite Ibiza says UV 50+ to AS/NZS 4399:1996, on polyester of about 150 g/m². Blue Ibiza says UV protection 15+ to the same standard. Copying 50+ onto the blue ASIN, B00H97IFGI, is the mistake these files stop. Salerno also says UV 50+ to AS/NZS 4399:1996, on polyester of about 180 g/m². Malaga prints no UV figure. Quote the ASIN you are about to pay for. AS/NZS 4399 is the method those bullets cite. GOV.UK notes that BS EN 13758 is a clothing method. The NHS still wants shade from 11am to 3pm, March to October, plus clothing and at least SPF 30. A parasol does not replace sunscreen. If the listing is blank, do not invent a 50+ line.

What not to copy from the catalogue

Schneider's 2026 catalogue describes a round Malaga with a 48 mm pole. The kept listing does not print a diameter. Measure the pole that arrives. Do not treat 48 mm as a field on B00H97IJVE. The catalogue prints about 200 g/m² on some Locarno sizes. This file prints about 160 g/m². Use 160 g/m² for this ASIN only. A rectangular Locarno sold elsewhere is not model 715-02. Euro prices on schneider-schirme.com are not amazon.co.uk. They are not about £198.85 and not about £41.43. Both Ibiza files print 4.0 from 1,372, the same rank, and the same written reviews. Blue's origin row says Germany. Anthracite's says China, the title says anthracite, and a colour row says charcoal. Choose anthracite for the page that prints UV 50+. Choose blue for that colour, and read 15+ on that page.

Common questions

Does any kept listing include the base?
No. Salerno also names a cover and an air vent. None of them names a base. The about £36.08 Locarno price is the canopy in the raw file, not a kit with a filled stand.
Why does one Ibiza say UV 15+ and the other UV 50+?
Blue Ibiza B00H97IFGI prints UV 15+ to AS/NZS 4399:1996. Anthracite Ibiza B09Q8GZCXD prints UV 50+ to the same standard. A catalogue line for the family does not overwrite the blue amazon.co.uk page.
Is Malaga's pole 48 mm because the catalogue says so?
The catalogue describes a round Malaga at 48 mm. Model 614-02 does not print a diameter. It prints 300 x 300 x 265 cm, 7 kg, and an 8-part canopy. Measure the pole you receive.
Does Salerno's crank make it the better small-space buy?
Only if you need 300 x 150 cm in a tight gap and you have read the crank complaints. The raw file is about £198.85, with a cover. A slider Locarno will not cover that rectangle.
Are the two Ibiza review counts two tests?
No. Both raw files print 4.0 from 1,372 and the same written reviews. Adding the counts to 2,744 would invent a second test. They still differ on colour, origin, fabric weight, and the UV line.
