Schneider parasol base and pole

Updated: 22.10.2026

The canopy is in the hallway and the pole has nothing to stand in. None of the five listings on our [Schneider parasol comparison](/hub/sun-shades/schneider-parasol) names a base. A Schneider parasol base is a second purchase, and it has to name your lower pole. Locarno and both Ibiza listings print 22/25 mm. Salerno prints 38 mm. Malaga prints no diameter. The sand-filled stand of about 45 kg takes 30–50 mm, so it is the wrong hole for 22/25 mm. There is no single legal kilogram. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

The pole each listing actually prints

Read the pole line before you read the base advert. Locarno model 715-02 states a two-part pole of 22/25 mm. Blue Ibiza 682-09 and anthracite Ibiza 682-15 state the same 22/25 mm. The lower section is the 25 mm part of that pair. Confirm it with a tape. Salerno model 746-02 states a two-piece pole of 38 mm. A base drilled only for 38 mm will not grip 25 mm, and a 25 mm insert will not take 38 mm. Malaga model 614-02 prints 300 x 300 x 265 cm and 7 kg. It does not print a diameter. Schneider's 2026 catalogue describes a round Malaga at 48 mm. That is a reason to measure the pole that arrives, not a number to type into a basket tonight. Ordering a 48 mm sleeve before the carton is open means you are buying the catalogue, not ASIN B00H97IJVE. Span and opener come first, on the buying guide.

The 45 kg stand and what it will not hold

Schneider's PE stand, about 45 kg, item 4857-1501, is a sand-filled base for tubes of 30–50 mm and for centre masts up to 300 cm. The range includes Salerno's printed 38 mm. It does not include Locarno or either Ibiza at 22/25 mm. Putting that stand under a Locarno leaves the pole sloppy in a hole that starts at 30 mm. Fill on that item is sand. Do not assume water because another page mentioned water. A UK retail description of PE stand 856-01 talks about 38–50 mm and sand or water. That is a different item number. Do not merge them. If your pole is 38 mm, check the insert in the box you receive. If it is 22/25 mm, look for a holder that lists 25 mm. Malaga might fall inside 30–50 mm once you measure it. How you close the canopy once it is standing is on the how to use page.

Clamps for a small balcony

A small balcony often cannot take a granite block in front of the door. Schneider's balcony notes say to avoid a large slab and to use a railing bracket, for spans of about 1.5–2 m. The 2026 catalogue grid marks Locarno 150/8 and Ibiza 180 x 120 for a table clamp and a balcony clamp. It marks Malaga 300/8 for a ground sleeve and a ground screw holder, not for those clamps. Salerno's 38 mm pole is a different conversation from a 22/25 mm table clamp. Schneider's stands explainer describes Foxi as suitable up to 32 mm on a round handrail, and Maxi as up to 38 mm and for square rails. A separate Maxi page lists 25, 30, 32, and 38 mm. Maxi's 25 mm step can suit a Locarno or Ibiza if the insert is in the box. Foxi's 32 mm ceiling does not cover a pole measured at 48 mm. A 300 cm round canopy needs the ground socket, not the handrail.

Weight is still a rule of thumb

A hole that fits is not a base that is heavy enough. Schneider does not publish one legal kilogram for these five ASINs. Wider notes on 3 m parasols treat a light free-standing disc as too little for a 300 cm canopy. An 11 kg UK concrete base sold for 32/35/38 mm can be the right diameter for a Salerno pole and still the wrong mass for a free-standing 300 cm cloth. Call that a rule of thumb, not a Schneider minimum. The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 expect a safe product in foreseeable use. They do not print a kilogram that makes the product illegal. Sand is the fill Schneider names for 4857-1501. Do not pour water into it because 856-01 allows water. If the pole spins, check the locking nut, then stop. Match the printed diameter first, then judge the mass against the span.

Common questions

Will the 45 kg Schneider stand take a Locarno?
No. Item 4857-1501 is for tubes of 30–50 mm. Locarno and both Ibiza listings print 22/25 mm. The range can include a 38 mm Salerno. The euro price on the maker's page is not an amazon.co.uk price.
What fits a 38 mm Salerno?
A base or clamp that names 38 mm, including the 30–50 mm range of the 45 kg stand and Maxi's listed 38 mm. Confirm the insert. A 22/25 mm Locarno clamp will not take this pole. The cover is in the carton. The base is not.
What do I buy before I know Malaga's pole?
Nothing that depends on a diameter. The listing does not print one, and the catalogue's 48 mm is not a field on B00H97IJVE. Measure the lower pole, then choose a sleeve or stand that names that measurement.
Is an 11 kg base enough for 300 cm?
Treat 11 kg as light for a free-standing 300 cm canopy. That is a rule of thumb, not a Schneider statute. A 32/35/38 mm concrete disc may match a Salerno pole and still be too light on an open patio.
Sand or water?
Item 4857-1501 is filled with sand, for 30–50 mm poles. Stand 856-01 is a different item and mentions sand or water. Do not fill 4857-1501 with water because the other stand allows it.
