Schneider balcony parasol or patio parasol

Updated: 22.10.2026

You have either a narrow UK balcony or a patio table with people all the way round. A Schneider balcony parasol or patio parasol here means Locarno or Ibiza at about 1.5–2 m, Salerno for a 300 x 150 cm slot, and Malaga when the patio can take a round 300 cm canopy on a ground socket. Prices stay on our [Schneider parasol comparison](/hub/sun-shades/schneider-parasol). This page is the footprint. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What Schneider treats as a balcony span

Schneider's balcony article tells you to keep a small balcony off a large granite or slab stand and to use a railing bracket. The span it points at is about 1.5 m to 2 m, with a tilt so you can angle the cloth as the sun moves. Locarno, about 150 cm round, sits inside that hint. Both Ibiza listings, about 180 x 120 cm with a valance, sit inside it too. The catalogue grid marks Locarno 150 and Ibiza 180 x 120 for a balcony clamp and a table clamp. Those listings print a 22/25 mm pole, so the bracket has to name that diameter. Socket sizes, including why the 45 kg stand does not fit 22/25 mm, are on the base and pole page. Wall-mounted half parasols in that article are a different shape. They are not the Ibiza and they are not the Salerno. Under about 2 m, shortlist Locarno or Ibiza. Locarno is the round 150 cm best value, at about £36.08 in the raw file. Choose blue or anthracite Ibiza by the UV line on that ASIN, 15+ or 50+, not by splitting their shared 1,372 reviews.

When the balcony is long and tight

Some balconies are a run beside the flat, with a parapet close to the soffit. Salerno is the listing shaped for that gap: 300 x 150 cm, a crank, manual tilt, a 38 mm pole, and a cover named in the box. The captured amazon.co.uk price is about £198.85, not the euro figure on the maker's page. Salerno is not a half parasol. The half shape in Schneider's balcony article is the wall-mounted screen. A Salerno Mezzo half screen is not one of the five kept listings. In the first 50 written reviews, 21 are marked United Kingdom, and several describe the winder failing, from a second use to about 14 months. Who should skip the crank and stay with a slider is on the best Schneider parasol page. A base is not in the Salerno box. The public sheet for article 746-00 says a roof terrace is unsuitable. We have not confirmed the 746-02 carton reprints it.

When the patio wants a round 300 cm

A dining patio wants shade that falls as a circle, with the pole at the table. Malaga model 614-02 is the kept listing at about 300 cm round, 300 x 300 x 265 cm, 7 kg, and about £128.62, with 4.3 from 246 ratings. Schneider's balcony notes do not present this round 300 cm Malaga as the balcony parasol. The catalogue grid marks Malaga 300/8 for a ground sleeve and a ground screw holder, not for the balcony clamp it gives Locarno and Ibiza. A Foxi railing bracket, described up to 32 mm on a round handrail, is the wrong tool even before you know the pole diameter. The listing does not print one. You measure, then you buy the sleeve. Reviews describe a rope and a locking pin, and no tilt. If you needed to angle the cloth along a railing, stay with Locarno or Ibiza. The spec block names neither a crank nor a UV figure. No base is in the carton.

Two products called Malaga

Schneider Malaga, ASIN B00H97IJVE, model 614-02, is the centre pole in this comparison, about 300 cm, at about £128.62. Morton Parasols sells a different Malaga, a Gloucestershire cantilever with a 100 mm mast, from about £1,652. Recommend B00H97IJVE only when the patio needs that round Schneider and you will measure the pole for a ground socket.

Common questions

Is Salerno a half parasol?
No. Salerno in this set is a 300 x 150 cm centre-pole rectangle with a crank, a 38 mm pole, and a cover in the box. A Salerno Mezzo half screen is not one of the kept listings.
Is Ibiza enough for a balcony of about 2 m?
It matches the span Schneider suggests, at about 180 x 120 cm, with a 22/25 mm pole marked for a balcony clamp. It will not shade a 3 m patio table. Read 15+ on blue and 50+ on anthracite. The 1,372 ratings are one shared sample.
Do I still need a base on a balcony?
Yes, unless a clamp is doing that job. None of these boxes names a base. The clamp has to list 22/25 mm for Locarno and Ibiza, or 38 mm for Salerno. The canopy price is not a parasol you can already stand up.
Is the Gloucestershire Malaga the Schneider Malaga?
No. Morton's Malaga is a cantilever from about £1,652 with a 100 mm mast. Schneider's is ASIN B00H97IJVE, a centre pole of about 300 cm at about £128.62. Do not mix the reviews or the mast sizes.
Can I put a 300 cm round parasol on a small balcony?
Schneider does not treat the round 300 cm Malaga as a balcony model. The notes point at about 1.5–2 m and a railing bracket. Use Malaga where a patio can take a ground sleeve after you have measured the pole.
