Rectangular parasol buying guide

Updated: 22.10.2026

You have a tape on the dining table, and the amazon.co.uk page calls the long side a diameter. A rectangular parasol buying guide is the slower check: canopy length and width, whether a base or a clamp is in the box, the pole that has to fit the sleeve, and the opening the listing actually names. This set, captured on 19 October 2026, runs from an AKTIVE wall parasol at about £25.30 to a PHI VILLA 2.7 x 4.5 m with a base in the title at about £142.99. Those eleven listings sit in the [rectangular parasol comparison](/hub/sun-shades/rectangular-parasol). A qualifying purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Match the rectangle to the furniture

Start with the furniture, not the star line. The grey VOUNOT at about £33.36 is 200 x 125 cm. The Outsunny at about £33.46 is 2 x 1.5 m. The clamp is 210 x 140 cm. Grand patio prints 182 cm and 131 x 190 cm, so copy both. The crank titles state 3.8 x 2 m, and the patio title states 2.7 x 4.5 m. The VOUNOT double and AKTIVE 53877 do not print metres in the specification block. Shade Specialists ask for about 50 cm past the table. Cape & Co uses about 30 cm in one note and about 60 cm in a later note. Measure your table, then read both size lines. On the VOUNOT and the Outsunny, a 200 cm diameter field sits beside a rectangle. That figure is the long side.

Base in the box, and the pole that has to fit

Outsunny sells the parasol alone and recommends 15 kg, with a 38 mm pole and an item weight of 4.5 kg. Grand patio recommends a minimum of 25 kg and does not supply the base. The PHI VILLA clamp includes a clamp and no slab, on a 32 mm pole. The 2.7 x 4.5 m title says the base is included. The VOUNOT 200 x 125 cm file lists a cover and does not state a base. Plia treats 38 mm and 48 mm as the common UK shop sleeves. A 32 mm pole will not lock in a 38 mm hole. The Outsunny 38 mm matches the smaller sleeve. The clamp's 32 mm belongs with its own clamp, or with a sleeve you have measured. At 4.37 kg, the Grand patio is a balcony parasol, even where one bullet says cantilever.

Opening, tilt, and fabric claims

The Outsunny opens with a pull rope, and a button sets a 45 degree tilt. The VOUNOT 200 x 125 cm field says bendable, with manual tilt and a height adjustment in the bullets. The PHI VILLA 3.8 x 2 m titles and the 2.7 x 4.5 m title say crank, and they do not state a tilt. The clamp says manual lift and tilt up to 30 degrees. Grand patio's field is a manual crank or lever. One UK review says it spins and raises but does not tilt. A UV50+ or UPF 50+ bullet is a seller claim. None of these files cites BS EN 13758, and none publishes an EN 13561 wind class. The extra sail is weighed on the rectangular parasol vs round page.

What this guide will not decide

This page will not name a winner. A wall parasol with no review line, a clamp whose reviews are about rods that will not join, and a 53877 file with no metres are reasons to read the live title. Shared review text across the three 3.8 x 2 m URLs means you read the title you are buying. Lights in that shared text do not belong to the two about £94.99 titles, which do not say LED. A balcony carry is the rectangular parasol for a balcony page.

What you can decide from the listing

If you need the metres printed before you order, leave AKTIVE 53877 and the VOUNOT double until the live title shows a size. If the span is 3.8 x 2 m or 2.7 x 4.5 m, keep it off a flat balcony. If one file prints two ASINs, check the live title. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers a parcel that does not match the page.

Common questions

What canopy size matches a long table rather than a balcony?
In this set, 200 x 125 cm and 2 x 1.5 m are the small rectangles. Titles that state 3.8 x 2 m, and the 2.7 x 4.5 m with a base in the title, are the dining and patio spans. The VOUNOT double does not print the metres.
Is the base in the box?
The PHI VILLA 2.7 x 4.5 m title says yes. Outsunny recommends 15 kg and sells the parasol alone. Grand patio recommends 25 kg and does not supply it. The clamp includes a clamp and no slab. The small VOUNOT file does not state a base.
Will a 32 mm pole fit a 38 mm or 48 mm sleeve?
Not as a lock fit. The PHI VILLA clamp states 32 mm and is meant for its own clamp. The Outsunny states 38 mm. The other listings here do not print a diameter. A thinner pole leans in a wider hole.
Why does Amazon call the long side a diameter?
The canopy-diameter field on the VOUNOT 200 x 125 cm listing and on the Outsunny prints 200 cm beside a rectangle. Copy both figures. Treat 200 cm as the long side when the size field says 200 x 125 cm or 2 x 1.5 m.
Does UV 50+ on these listings mean a tested clothing standard?
UV50+ on the small VOUNOT, UV50 on the AKTIVE wall title, and UPF 50+ on the clamp are seller wording. None of these files cites BS EN 13758. NHS guidance still wants factor 30 sunscreen when the UV index is 3 or higher.
Which base-weight table should you follow when the shops disagree?
Follow the listing you bought. Outsunny states 15 kg. Grand patio states a 25 kg minimum. Cape & Co, White Stores, Plia and Opal Retail publish different bands, and none of them is a legal minimum for these ASINs.
