Updated: 21 October 2026

You want your legs on the sand, or you want to stand up without a haul from the floor, and the listing only says beach chair. What low means here

Low, here, means the #WEJOY recliner whose table states 18.99 cm, with four positions, at £49.99. United Kingdom reviews call that seat low. One mentions a painful knee. A short title says it is not for adults, without a broken part. If you can get up from the floor, that height is a sun-lounger choice. If your knees already object to a low sofa, it is a poor choice, and that is foreseeable rather than a hidden feature. The word is not a British standard. Trail lists a low recliner at 25 cm. A Sisken card sits near 8 cm. IKEA's STRANDÖN, not in this set, states 32 cm. All three can be photographed on a beach. They are not 18.99 cm. When a shop says low and prints no centimetre, you cannot tell which world you are buying. Four kept listings omit the height: the low OVERMONT, the Portal pair, the HomlyPro folder and the Beach Master. The low OVERMONT is a six-position recliner at £29.40, with only seven UK reviews in the file, so you still do not know the centimetre. Portal's reviews describe a reclined sit you can stretch from, at £53.99 for two, which is low behaviour without a number. HomlyPro's texts call the seat short and low, behind 3.8 from 28. Beach Master reviews call the top too low for a normal chair. Missing height plus those words is a warning, not a measurement.

What a higher seat means here

A higher seat is a stated figure you can leave more easily. The ARURU pair states 36 cm. The extra-wide #WEJOY states 39.12 cm in the bullets, on a seat those bullets also call 54.61 cm wide. The EVER ADVANCED pair states 50 cm. The oversized OVERMONT prints 20 inches. At 2.54 cm to the inch, 20 inches is about 51 cm. The listing printed inches, so say 20 inches, about 51 cm. Do not paste 51 cm into the table as if the seller had written centimetres. Living Made Easy, writing about domestic chairs rather than a beach test, says a higher seat is easier to stand from if your legs are weak, and that a seat which is too high leaves your feet off the floor. One home measure they mention is the floor to the crease behind the knee. That is an idea, not a prescription, and sand is not a firm floor. ARURU's UK texts mostly praise the higher seat. One review calls that same chair very low and hard on old knees. Both stay. You should not average them. The extra-wide #WEJOY, at 4.6 from 743, is praised for arms and width, and some buyers still call the carry heavy. EVER ADVANCED's 50 cm comes with a table weight of 13.5 kg and a 6 cm padding claim reviews do not support. The oversized OVERMONT's inch-high seat comes with torn-arm reviews. Height does not cancel a failed joint.

When to pick which

Choose the low #WEJOY if you will lie back, you can stand from about 19 cm, and you have read that the table says 120.2 kg while the bullets say 400 lb. Choose a stated higher seat if getting up is the problem: 36 cm on the ARURU for two backpack chairs, 39.12 cm on the extra-wide #WEJOY for one wide folder, or 50 cm on the EVER ADVANCED if the chairs live in the boot. Skip about 19 cm if a bad knee is already part of your day. Skip a missing height, Portal included, if you cannot afford to guess. A higher seat does not always beat a low one on sand. A low chair keeps your weight nearer the ground, which is why low loungers show up in UK beach ranges. It can also be the chair you cannot leave. Feet and wind belong on beach chair for sand. Common questions

What counts as low in this set?
The stated low figure is 18.99 cm on the #WEJOY recliner. UK reviews say that seat is low, and one mentions a painful knee. Portal, the low OVERMONT, HomlyPro and Beach Master do not state a height, though reviews often describe a low sit. Outside this set, shops use low for about 8 cm and about 25 cm, so the adjective alone is not the centimetre.
What counts as a higher seat?
Stated higher seats are ARURU at 36 cm, the extra-wide #WEJOY at 39.12 cm in the bullets, and EVER ADVANCED at 50 cm. The oversized OVERMONT prints 20 inches, about 51 cm. IKEA's STRANDÖN at 32 cm is an outside example of a raised beach chair, not one of the ten. Higher means easier to leave, until your feet no longer reach the ground.
Which listings do not state a seat height?
The low OVERMONT, the Portal pair, the HomlyPro folder and the Beach Master. Reviews still describe behaviour: Portal as a low festival sit, HomlyPro as short, Beach Master as too low for a normal chair. Behaviour is not a centimetre. If standing up matters, buy a listing that prints the height, or sit in the chair before you rely on it.
Who should skip about 19 cm?
Skip the 18.99 cm #WEJOY if you cannot stand from a low sofa, or if a previous low chair hurt your knees. The painful-knee review is one text, not a trial, and it matches the height already printed. A stated seat of 36 cm or more in this set is the condition that fits that limit. Lying back is the condition that fits 19 cm.
Does a higher seat always beat a low one on sand?
No. A low seat can feel steadier because your weight stays down. A higher back on a light chair can catch wind, and that question moves to the sand page. A higher seat wins when the problem is standing up, not when the problem is a soft patch under a narrow foot. Those problems share a beach and they are still different choices.
Is 20 inches the same kind of number as 50 cm?
They are close after conversion, and they are not the same printed unit. Twenty inches times 2.54 is 50.8 cm, so about 51 cm. The oversized OVERMONT printed 20 inches. EVER ADVANCED printed 50 cm. Keep the seller's unit, then show the sum. Do not replace the inch line with centimetres as if the table had said 50 cm.
