HomeKit outdoor socket UK: Meross against Tuya and BG Home

Updated: 23 October 2026

You already use Apple Home, or you saw Siri on a British General bullet and you are about to treat that as HomeKit. In this set those are different claims. The HomeKit outdoor socket we kept is the Meross plug. BG is BG Home plus a Siri line the sheet calls Siri Shortcuts. Knightsbridge's amazon bullets are Tuya SmartLife, Alexa, and Google. Prices are on the [outdoor Wi-Fi socket comparison](/hub/sockets-and-extension-leads/outdoor-wi-fi-socket): £39.99, £29.99, and £33.29. We did not lab-test the apps. What each listing actually names

Read the app line on the listing. Meross B08BFFGH5J prints HomeKit on iOS 13 or above, the Meross app, Alexa, and Google Assistant, and SmartThings in the highlight. That SmartThings name is not on the BG or Knightsbridge captures. BG B0BPYWGNKY names Alexa, Hey Google, Siri, IFTTT, and BG Home, with no hub and no subscription. HomeKit is not named. Knightsbridge B08GGBQCM4 names Alexa and Google through Tuya SmartLife, and this capture does not name Siri. None of the three prints Matter. If you open the Home app, only Meross claims to be the accessory. The £29.99 BG box is not a cheaper HomeKit socket because it says Siri.

HomeKit on the Meross plug

The Meross bullet says HomeKit on iOS 13 or above, and remote control needs another Apple device such as an iPad, a HomePod, or an Apple TV. Meross's FAQ says the Home app needs a home hub away from the house. Apple's later pages have moved on from an iPad as a current home hub. Keep the words on this listing, including the iPad. The plug is still 2.4 GHz only. HomeKit does not change the IP44 line or the pump ban. Those limits are on the plug-in versus wall page. The bullet does not make BG or Knightsbridge a HomeKit accessory. Stay on B08BFFGH5J at the stored £39.99. A different outdoor Meross ASIN at £33.99 is a different product.

Siri Shortcuts and SmartLife

BG's amazon bullet says Siri. The WP22/HC sheet says Siri Shortcuts and IFTTT, and it does not show a HomeKit setup code. Screwfix's trade row says the family does not work with Apple HomeKit. That trade price is not the amazon £29.99. A shortcut is not the socket appearing in the Home app. The bullet also says no hub and no subscription. Knightsbridge's bullets name Tuya SmartLife, Alexa, and Google, not Siri. The ML Accessories page also names Siri Shortcuts and power monitoring, which the amazon bullets do not print. Reviews say the instructions say SmartKnight, and several buyers could not find that app in a UK store. A current SmartLife app does not delete those reviews. If you need the Home app to own the accessory, both wall boxes are the skip.

What this page will not do

A Tuya or Smart Life device is not native HomeKit on the evidence in this set. A bridge or a home server is equipment we did not include, and this page does not give those steps. Matter is not printed on any listing here. Do not infer it from Wi-Fi, Alexa, or a Siri line. When the app decision is made, the conditional pick is on the best outdoor Wi-Fi socket page: Meross if Apple Home and an existing socket are both true, BG or Knightsbridge if the job is a wall swap and you can live without HomeKit.

Common questions

Does Siri on the BG listing mean Apple Home?
No. The amazon bullet says Siri. The WP22/HC sheet says Siri Shortcuts and IFTTT, not a HomeKit code. Screwfix's trade row for that family says it does not work with Apple HomeKit. You can use the voice line the sheet actually prints. You should not expect the socket to appear as a HomeKit accessory the way the Meross bullet describes.
Does Knightsbridge print HomeKit?
Not on the amazon bullets for B08GGBQCM4. Those bullets name Alexa, Google Assistant, and Tuya SmartLife. The maker page also names Siri Shortcuts. That maker line is not a HomeKit code, and it is not what the amazon bullets print. Reviews of a SmartKnight app name are a store problem, not a HomeKit setup.
What extra Apple device does the Meross bullet name?
An iPad, a HomePod, or an Apple TV, as examples of the additional Apple device it says remote control needs. Meross's FAQ says the Home app needs a home hub for remote control, which matches that bullet. The listing still includes an iPad in the examples. Do not upgrade or delete that list from a later Apple support page.
Do BG or Knightsbridge need a hub?
BG's bullet says no hub and no subscription. Knightsbridge does not name a hub. The setup it describes is 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The Meross plug also does not name a separate Meross hub. Its extra device is the Apple one for HomeKit remote control, which is a different sentence from a brand gateway in the carton.
Can I add the Tuya socket to Apple Home without a bridge this set does not include?
Not as a native HomeKit accessory, on these listings. Knightsbridge is Tuya SmartLife on the amazon bullets. Guides that offer a bridge are describing hardware outside this set. This page does not supply those steps. If Apple Home has to own the accessory, the answer in this set is the Meross plug, with its IP44 and pump limits still attached.
