125mm wood cutting disc buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You are about to put a wood disc in an amazon.co.uk basket, and the photos do not agree. One listing shows a rough carbide rim. The next shows teeth and still uses the same search phrase. A 125mm wood cutting disc buying guide has to separate those two objects before price or stars mean anything. The [125mm wood cutting disc comparison](/hub/saw-accessories/125mm-wood-cutting-disc) ranks the kept listings. This page is the order of checks. Peter F. read the amazon.co.uk pages on 16 October 2026, with public UK safety notes. Nothing here is a laboratory cut. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Two products, one search phrase

A carbide-grit rim and a 40-tooth blade share a diameter and little else. The Bosch Expert Carbide Multi Wheel is toothless: one 125 mm disc, a 22.23 mm bore, and 1 mm in the included-components line. The HAWCUT two-pack is a saw blade. Its devices cell names circular saws and does not name an angle grinder. Other 40-tooth titles do name an angle grinder. That is what a star sort hides. The Office for Product Safety and Standards, in alert PSA5, tells you not to fit a toothed saw blade to an angle grinder, because those attachments kick back. A carbide multi-wheel is a different accessory, and only for a grinder whose instructions allow it and whose guard covers the disc. Price comes last. How the types differ is the carbide disc or toothed blade page.

Checks in order

Start with the machine, not the thumbnail. The manual states the diameter, the arbor, the maximum speed, and which accessories are allowed. If it never mentions a wood disc, a marketplace bullet does not fill the gap. A 125 mm disc is not a 115 mm disc. Both sizes commonly use a 22.23 mm hole, so the disc can sit on the spindle and still stand proud of a 115 mm guard. The disc maximum has to be at least the tool speed. HAWCUT states 12,000 rpm. The Bosch amazon.co.uk file states none. Screwfix prints 13,300 rpm on an Expert page, and Toolstation prints 12,250 rpm on part 2608902375, which is not ASIN B09417GYWN. Do not copy those figures onto this disc. The usual miss is the ring. HAWCUT includes rings to 20 mm. A 20 mm ring will not centre a 16 mm arbor. Measuring in your hand is the bore and maximum rpm check.

What the kept listings actually state

Read the cells, not the title alone. Bosch is one disc at about £15.96, 4.7 from 1,407 reviews, and no maximum rpm in that file. The material cell says Plastic, while the bullets name wood with screws and nails. Oiieco is two grit discs at about £10.39, and the title also says 115–125 mm. HAWCUT is two 40-tooth blades at about £7.99, limited to circular saws, with 12,000 rpm.

When the listing is not enough

You stop when a cell you need is blank or the cells fight. Bosch and Oiieco state no maximum rpm. Do not borrow 12,250 rpm from a different Bosch part number. If the guard will not close over a true 125 mm disc, the disc does not fit. A toothed blade whose title names an angle grinder is a different stop. Health and Safety Executive guidance on wood dust still applies once the cut is more than a nick: extract it, or work outdoors, and wear a dust mask.

Common questions

Is a 40T blade the same as a carbide grit disc?
No. A 40-tooth blade is a toothed saw blade. A carbide grit disc, such as the Bosch Expert multi-wheel, has a rough rim and no teeth. Both can be listed at 125 mm with a 22.23 mm bore, which is why the search mixes them. On an angle grinder, PSA5 warns against the toothed blade. On a compact circular saw, the toothed blade can be what the saw is built for.
What bore does a 125 mm grinder use?
In this set the stated bore is 22.23 mm, sometimes printed 22.2 mm. That is the usual 7/8 inch arbor on a small angle grinder. A matching hole does not mean the disc is the right diameter or the right type. You still match 125 mm to a 125 mm guard, and you still check a 20 mm or 16 mm ring if the tool is a saw.
What if the listing gives no maximum rpm?
Treat the blank as unknown. The Bosch file states no maximum. Screwfix states 13,300 rpm for an Expert 125 mm disc, and Toolstation states 12,250 rpm for a different Bosch part number. Neither figure should be written onto ASIN B09417GYWN. The mark on the disc you receive has to be at least the speed of the tool.
Do I need a 20 mm ring, or a 16 mm ring?
You need the ring that matches the saw arbor, and only if the blade is meant for that saw. HAWCUT includes rings to 20 mm. Chersun’s bullet includes a 16 mm ring. A 20 mm ring leaves a 16 mm arbor loose. Grinders in this diameter usually want the 22.23 mm hole with no ring.
Can I put a 125 mm disc on a 115 mm grinder?
Not by forcing it. The bores often match, and the guard does not. One Chersun review describes fitting 125 mm blades to a 115 mm cordless Einhell after the shield was changed. That is a report of what someone did. If you need the smaller size, buy a 115 mm disc the manual allows.
