Best drywall sander

Updated: 21 October 2026

You want one pole sander for a skimmed ceiling or a run of walls, and the amazon.co.uk grid is full of similar 700–1,000 W kits from about £63 to £180. The best drywall sander in this captured set on 19 October 2026 depends on the job: a full ceiling, a wall-only budget, or a mid-price pole with a review sample you can read. Peter F. compared the kept listings and the UK review texts. This is not a lab test, and best here means best fit against a stated limit. Shelf prices and star lines sit on the [drywall sander comparison](/hub/sanders/drywall-sander). A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Best for full ceilings

For a whole ceiling, look for a telescopic pole, a stated 230 V line and a round head near 225 mm. The top pick is the ZHJAN DMJF7238B at £109.99: 880 W, five speeds from 1,000 to 2,100 rpm, a 215 mm disc, 12 sheets, a hose and a carry bag. Amazon shows 4.2 from 78. UK texts describe ceiling cutting once the hose is in use, a listed weight of 8.05 kg, a switch a buyer struggled to stop, and an RCD trip after about an hour. Evolution R225DWS-T at £131.00 is the ceiling tool when corners matter: 750 W, a 225 mm head, an 180 mm triangle, 24 sheets and 3.9 from 35. The title says 255 mm and the table says 225 mm. It names M-class compatibility and does not include the extractor. Skip B0DRND1PCN at £119.99: the same 78 ratings, and no disc diameter. Pad and plug checks are on the drywall sander buying guide.

Best budget under £70

Under £70, neither listing is a quiet recommendation for a lived-in ceiling. CUBEWAY CWS180L is £62.99, 710 W, with an 180 mm pad, 1,200–2,700 rpm and 3.7 from 26. It names a 4 m UK plug cable, six grits from 80 to 240, a bag and a 2 m hose. The table says 220 V, one unit stopped after about an hour, and the listing itself sends ceilings to another model. DEKOPRO is £63.99 and 900 W, with 1.0 from 1. That UK review, on 9 September 2026, says extraction collected almost nothing. If the job is one ceiling you cannot face by hand, HYCHIKA at £86.40 is the next step.

Best value with a readable sample

The best value is the HYCHIKA SZO-225FV-2 at £86.40: a 225 mm reference, six speeds, an LED, a table maximum of 1,800 rpm, a rod of about 1.30–2.00 m and 3.6 from 29. Others call it heavy and still see dust with a shop vacuum. A bullet says 220 V and the table says 230 V AC. The 1.6 kg row does not match those reviews. AYAJEK at £93.48 prints 230 V and 3.5 kg, with 4.2 from 14, but dust leaks and the rpm rows disagree. Bluebow, Cutforge, GOEHNER'S and FormiPow stay off this pick while the samples are thin or the voltage rows conflict.

When to skip buying

Skip a pole for a socket patch, a door lining or a touch-up a block can finish in an evening. That decision is on drywall sander versus hand sanding. Also skip a listing with no voltage if you will plug it in tonight: Cutforge, DEKOPRO and GOEHNER'S, plus FormiPow until the live page shows a battery and a charger. Skip CUBEWAY for a ceiling, and the dearer ZHJAN if you have already read the cheaper reviews. This capture has no hire price. If a coating might pre-date 2000 and you suspect asbestos, or if you suspect lead paint, stop. HSE’s plasterboard page is about gypsum from jointing. Electrical Safety First says not to sand suspected lead paint.

Common questions

Which drywall sander is best for ceilings?
ZHJAN B0DB7DQL3T at £109.99 is the top pick for open ceilings: 230 V, a 215 mm disc and 4.2 from 78. The limit is 8.05 kg, a switch that was hard to stop, and an RCD trip. Evolution at £131.00 is the ceiling pick when you also need the triangle, if you accept 3.9 from 35.
What is the best budget drywall sander under £70?
CUBEWAY at £62.99 is the only real sample under £70, at 3.7 from 26, with an 180 mm pad. Its own text sends ceilings elsewhere, and the table says 220 V. DEKOPRO at £63.99 has one 1-star dust review. For a ceiling, £86.40 on HYCHIKA is the more honest step. Check the voltage rows on the tool.
Is the Evolution drywall sander worth £131?
It is worth £131 for the only dual head, a 230 V 750 W motor, 24 sheets and M-class compatibility with an extractor you already own. It is weaker if you wanted a light tool or easy triangle refills. Reviewers praise time saved on fresh plaster and still report shoulder weight and a triangle that would not connect.
Which model is lightest for overhead work?
The tables do not give a trustworthy lightest pole. HYCHIKA prints 1.6 kg and reviewers still call it awkward. Evolution at 4.3 kg and AYAJEK at 3.5 kg are more plausible, and both still draw fatigue comments because the motor is at the head. Comfort in these reviews is about breaks, not a featherweight kit.
Should I avoid any listing in this set?
Leave FormiPow until the live page resolves 18 V versus 1,250 W. There are no UK reviews. Avoid DEKOPRO and GOEHNER'S as a dust guarantee: one review each, and GOEHNER'S adds an untested “99%” claim. The two ZHJAN pages are one sample, so the extra £10 does not buy a second group of buyers.
