Name the three tool families

A disc sander here is one of three families. A handheld random orbital has a hook-and-loop pad for a door, a table top or a panel. A bench disc clamps down and you bring the wood to it, for an end or a bevel. A belt-and-disc combo adds a belt beside that disc. The KATSU 101720, at £49.99, is the bench disc: 140 W and a 125 mm disc. The Bucktool MM491GV, at £159.99, adds a 100 × 915 mm belt and a 150 mm disc. Disc-only packs were left out. The clamped disc versus a palm pad is on the bench disc sander versus orbital page.

Pad and speed checks

Most corded orbitals here are 125 mm: the Bosch PEX 220 A, the Black+Decker BEW210-GB, both DEKOPRO pages and the Yunirvana. The MAXXT table prints 5.9055 inches, about 150 mm, while a bullet calls it 6 inch, and 2.33 kg against 1.27 kg. Match discs to the pad you receive. The PEX 220 A is fixed at 24,000 RPM. The PEX 400 AE, both DEKOPRO pages, the Yunirvana, the MAXXT and the KATSU advertise a dial. A 5.0 mm orbit is stated only on the MAXXT title.

Dust and indoor use

None of these listings is dust-free. Palm sanders ship with a box, a bag, or a hose claim. The KATSU and the Bucktool ship a port and an adapter, not an extractor. If you employ people, HSE expects extraction plus respiratory protection when wood dust stays in the air. A household vacuum is not local exhaust ventilation. Detail is on the sanding dust extraction page.

Mains and batteries

UK mains are 230 V, and a voltage row is not a BS 1363 plug. DEKOPRO B0D9VTX51B prints 220 Volts and 1.64 kg. B0B28LHK7Z prints 230 Volts and 1.41 kg, and its table says “AC adapter” on a corded title. Those pages share the same UK review texts, so the 4,497 ratings are one sample. The Yunirvana page states no voltage. The Lnopever SGJ-01 is a bare Makita 18 V tool at £42.99, with 5.0 from three ratings. The battery and charger are not in that price.

Common questions

Do I need a bench disc sander or an orbital?
Buy the bench disc if the wood comes to the machine: ends, bevels and small parts you can hold against a table. Buy the orbital if you take the machine to a door, a panel or a piece of furniture. An orbital will round an edge if you ask it to cut a square bevel, and a 140 W bench disc will bog if you try to flatten a table top on it.
What pad size suits doors and furniture?
A 125 mm pad is the size most of the corded orbitals here use, and it is the easy match for mixed grit packs from a UK DIY shop. It is enough for a door stile or a cabinet side if you keep the pad flat. A pad around 150 mm, which is what the MAXXT table suggests, covers a table top with fewer passes and needs its own discs.
Is variable speed worth paying for?
It is worth it when one tool has to strip and then finish. A dial lets you drop the speed so a fine grit does not scorch an edge, which is the point KATSU reviewers make about the bench disc. It is less useful on a single rough job, such as knocking back filler, where the fixed-speed Bosch PEX 220 A already has 4.5 from 4,335 ratings.
Will the dust bag work indoors?
It will catch some dust and it will not keep a room clean. UK reviews on the Bosch and Black+Decker boxes describe clogged filters, shells that fall off, and dust still in the air. Use the bag, empty it outside, and wear a mask for fine wood dust. A household vacuum on a port is a step up for a palm sander.
Does 240 V mean a UK plug is included?
No. A row that says 240 Volts or 230 Volts only tells you the motor is aimed at UK-style mains. It does not confirm a BS 1363 plug in the box, and the capture does not show the plug shape. Look at the lead in the photos. The Yunirvana page states no voltage at all, and the cheaper DEKOPRO page says 220 Volts, so those two need a closer look than a 240 V Bosch row.
