Wire saw buying guide

Updated: 16.10.2026

You have typed wire saw into amazon.co.uk and the first page mixes a twisted cable, a chainsaw chain with handles, and a hair-fine diamond wire. This wire saw buying guide is the rule for that mix: which mechanism matches the job, which length is the tool and which is the parcel, and which rows describe a motor that is not there. Prices and the twelve listings sit on the [wire saw comparison](/hub/power-saws/wire-saw). Products Compared used the amazon.co.uk listings stored on 16 October 2026 and did not lab-test these tools. Length, handles, and how many are in the pack

Tweruna’s bullet says 70 cm of wire and a 5 cm handle; the dimension row is 11.5 × 8 × 1.9 cm. TRUMIZON’s bullet says 80 cm and the packed size is 10 × 10 × 1 cm. The unbranded title says 29.53 inches and the dimension row says 80 cm. Baitang’s title ends in (2M) with no dimension row. Tweruna’s bullets say three saws and the included line says a wrench. Whispern Cloud’s title says (2) and the unit count says 1. The one-piece TRUMIZON is £3.99 against £4.99 for the pair. Assume the smaller number if the lines disagree.

What the reviews actually repeat

Homirty is 3.2 from 44, with snaps on first use and a break after four 25 mm softwood branches. Tweruna is 4.0 from 19; one reviewer held sharp wire after the crimp failed on plastic drainpipe. The two-piece TRUMIZON’s three written reviews are a ram’s horn, a lamb joint and dry camp wood, not a thick green branch. A HJUWANG buyer calls about 75 mm comfortable. Skyocean’s file includes jams and teeth on one side. Named picks are on the best wire saw page.

Rows that are not specifications

Baitang names stainless steel, ceramic and alumina in different rows. Homirty’s bullet says 20 g and the weight row says 50 g. Skyocean’s weight row says 158 g and a bullet says 0.44 lb. None of these files states UKCA. At work, PUWER 1998 can apply, and the Health and Safety Executive’s overview includes handsaws, with an exception for domestic work in a private household. The pull itself is on how to use a wire saw.

Common questions

Should I buy a cable, a pocket chain, or a diamond wire?
Buy the mechanism that matches one job. A twisted cable in this set is the pocket or pipe tool, mostly at £3.39–£5.99. A pocket chain is the branch tool: HJUWANG at 24 inches and £8.99, or Skyocean at 36 inches and £17.99. The OTOTEC 0.25 mm wire, £8.49, is for tile and similar fine cuts, and reviews say it kinks.
Which length on the page is the saw, not the packet?
Use the bullet that states wire or blade length, and treat a parcel such as 10 × 10 × 1 cm as the box. Cables here claim about 70–80 cm, except the FamilyMall blade row at 8 inches. Chains claim 24 inches or 36 inches. Baitang’s (2M) has no dimension row behind it.
Will the rings take a whole hand?
Often they will not. The red and black pair’s 5 cm loops failed both of its UK reviews, and both buyers pushed a stick through them. FamilyMall reviews say the rings bite fingers unless you add tape. Paracord, on the Skyocean chain, is a different handle from a plastic ring.
Why does the listing say corded electric, pneumatic, or 4,500 RPM?
Those rows are catalogue errors on tools you pull by hand. Tweruna says pneumatic. FamilyMall and the unbranded cable say corded electric. Several chains print 4,500 RPM beside a manual power source, and no review describes a motor. Ignore the row.
Is a £3.39 cable held to the same quality standard as a £17.99 chain?
The Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 9, judges satisfactory quality against the description, the price and the circumstances. A £3.39 cable is not required to behave like a £17.99 chain. Snap reviews on a cheap cable are part of what that price is telling you.
Which listings have almost no written reviews?
Whispern Cloud is 5.0 from two reviews with no text in the raw file. Baitang has no review line. The unbranded cable is 4.6 from seven reviews with one written line, that it was smaller than expected. The single TRUMIZON has four reviews and one written snap.
When is a folding saw the better buy?
Advnture treats a folding saw as the everyday camping cutter, and a wire or a pocket chain as occasional kit. If you will cut wood often, and the wood is in reach, that is the usual alternative. This comparison does not list a folding saw and does not price one.
