Table saw for a small workshop

Updated: October 2026

The shed is short, or the saw lives in a van. A table saw for a small workshop here is a weight, a stand, and a supply you can plug in. With a sound house socket, choose by weight and whether the stand is in the box. On a construction site, leave these 230 V listings at home. HSE wants cordless tools or 110 V centre-tapped-to-earth. The rows are the [table saw comparison](/hub/power-saws/table-saw). The first cut is [how to use a table saw](/hub/power-saws/table-saw/sub/table-saw-how-to-cut). No star ranking and no lab test. What fits the floor

The Buyfun is 7.17 kg on a table about 30 cm across, a craft saw. The TC-TS 8 I is 10.2 kg, with no rise claimed and no voltage printed. The TC-TS 2025/2 U is 19.2 kg at 240 V, dimensions 113.5 x 89.6 x 87 cm, with a stand. The Hyundai is 23 kg. The Fury 5-S is 21 kg with a leg stand. The GTS 635-216 is 22 kg and the R255TBL+ is 22.8 kg, and both sell the stand separately. The GTS 70-216 weight field is 28.2 kg, with no voltage. WoodCalcs.uk cites OSHA for its floor-area suggestion, and OSHA is not UK law.

House socket or site transformer

A house or a sound shed is 230 V and a BS 1363 plug. The Hyundai title says 230 V and the field says 220 V. None of these ASINs is a 110 V site saw. Do not copy a sound figure from a different 110 V Evolution onto the Fury 5-S. HSE says DIY 230 V tools are not suitable on site. Use cordless tools, or 110 V centre-tapped-to-earth, 55 V to earth. The cordless Einhell is the no-socket option only if you already own the packs. Two batteries are required and they are not in the £269.04. A house socket on a drum lead across a site is the wrong supply.

Room to feed the wood

HSE’s workplace guidance talks about take-off around 1200 mm from the spindle. You still need something behind the blade, or the board tips and the kerf closes. WoodCalcs.uk suggests, as a rule of thumb, about 5.5–6 m of run to pass a full 2440 mm sheet. Break the sheet down outside and bring shorter pieces in. Moving from 18 mm plywood to a 50 mm batten needs a saw whose listing prints a rise. The Hyundai cable is stated as 3 m.

Common questions

Will a table saw fit in a small shed?
The saw might. The timber in front and behind it is the usual failure. WoodCalcs.uk suggests about 2.5 m by 3 m for hobby work and about 5.5–6 m of run for a full 2440 mm sheet, as that site’s rule of thumb, not as a UK standard. A 19.2 kg Einhell with a stand needs floor, not a shelf. If you cannot support the outfeed, rip shorter pieces or cut the sheet elsewhere first.
Which listing is light enough to lift?
The TC-TS 8 I is 10.2 kg, and the bullets do not claim a blade that rises. The cordless Einhell is 13.2 kg before batteries, which are not included. The Buyfun at 7.17 kg is a 30 cm craft saw, not a board saw. The stand-in-the-box benches, about 19 kg to 23 kg, are floor machines. The 22 kg Bosch and the 22.8 kg R255TBL+ need a separate stand if they will not sit on a bench you already trust.
Can I run these saws from a house socket?
The corded listings that agree on voltage are built around 230 V or 240 V, which is a house or shed socket, not a 110 V site transformer. The Hyundai title says 230 V and the field says 220 V, so confirm that one. Several listings print no voltage. Read the rating plate. A normal socket does not make a 230 V saw suitable for a construction site.
Do I need 110 V on a building site?
HSE says DIY 230 V tools are not suitable for site conditions. Use cordless tools or 110 V centre-tapped-to-earth, so the voltage to earth is 55 V. This set has no 110 V table saw. Do not take the Fury 5-S, the Einhell bench saws or the Bosch 240 V listing onto site on an extension lead. A 110 V model from the same brand family is a different product.
Is the cordless Einhell the shed saw with no socket?
Only if you already own the batteries. The TE-TS 36/210 Li is £269.04 without cells, two lithium-ion packs are required, and the page prints both 36 V and 18 V. The highlight states 70 mm. It is not a 110 V site saw, and it is a weak choice if you must buy the packs to make the shelf price true. Where a sound socket exists, a corded saw with an agreed voltage is simpler.
