Cordless or corded Bosch mitre saw

Updated: 21 October 2026

The cordless prices look close to a large corded saw until you open the box. A cordless or corded Bosch mitre saw, among the six amazon.co.uk listings in the [Bosch Professional mitre saw comparison](/hub/power-saws/bosch-professional-mitre-saw), is a choice about where the power comes from. The GCM 18V-216 D is £453.00 and the GCM 18V-254 D is £619.07, and neither price includes a battery. The corded set runs from £209.49 to £627.87. Peter F. compared those listings and Bosch GB pages. There was no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What the cordless price does not include

Both cordless listings are body only. The item type says solo. The GCM 18V-216 D scope is a 216 mm blade, supports, a dust bag and a clamp. The GCM 18V-254 D scope is a 254 mm wood blade, with the same supports, bag and clamp. There is no battery and no charger. The £453 figure is the saw, not the system. Add packs you do not yet own before you compare it with the GCM 800 SJ at £229.80 on a 13 A socket. Bosch names an EXPERT 18 V pack of 8 Ah or 12 Ah. AMPShare is alliance compatibility, not a test of every 18 V pack. BITURBO is the brushless drive name, not a measurement beside the 1,400 W bullet on the GCM 800 SJ.

When 18 V is the right Bosch

Buy cordless when the cuts are intermittent and the large packs are already yours. Cordless drops the lead, not the kilograms. Dual bevel is on both cordless bullets. The GCM 800 SJ is 45 degrees left only, which matters for flat crown, not for skirting you can flip. The GCM 18V-216 D title says 66 x 305 mm and a bullet says 70 x 305 mm. Bosch’s page states 70 x 305 mm. Five UK reviews of the GCM 18V-254 D include a trigger that lit the laser and did not start the blade. Return that saw. The job-by-job pick is on the best page.

When mains is the right Bosch

Buy corded when a socket will be there all day. The GCM 800 SJ at £229.80 states 270 mm horizontal capacity, 1,400 W and 13.5 kg, with 4.7 from 75 reviews. It does not fade at the end of a pack. The GCM305-216S at £209.49 adds an LED line, with only three UK reviews. The GCM 305-254 D at £627.87 is the corded answer for a stated 90 x 305 mm cut. A cell that says 24 on the GCM 800 SJ, or 24 V and 250 W on the GCM 305-254 D, is a bad cell. Do not step the saw down. If the packs are a new purchase, the £229.80 saw is the lower bill. Capacity stays on the buying guide.

110 V sites

None of these six titles is a 110 V tool. A 240 V GCM 800 SJ does not belong on a yellow 110 V site supply. Bosch’s GB page shows a 110 V order, 0 601 B19 060. That order is not B00S9XNPGQ. If the only power you may use is 110 V, order the 110 V Bosch number. Cordless when the packs are already yours. Corded when a 13 A socket will be there all day.

Common questions

Does the cordless Bosch include a battery?
No. The GCM 18V-216 D at £453.00 and the GCM 18V-254 D at £619.07 are both marked solo. The scope lists a blade, two supports, a dust bag and a clamp. You need a separate 18 V pack and charger before the saw will run.
Which packs does Bosch name?
An EXPERT 18 V pack, and 8 Ah or 12 Ah where runtime is the point, on the GB pages for these two models. This comparison has no pack price and no minutes-per-charge figure. A pack you already own in that class is the point of buying body only.
Is BITURBO the same as 1,600 W?
No. BITURBO is the name in the bullets for the brushless drive. The 1,600 W figure is an amazon cell, and the bullets do not state a wattage. Do not set that cell beside the 1,400 W corded bullet as if both were measured the same way.
Can I take the 240 V GCM 800 SJ onto a 110 V site?
Not as these listings are sold. The title is 240 V class. Bosch sells a 110 V GCM 800 SJ under order 0 601 B19 060, which is not one of the six ASINs. A yellow 110 V supply is a different plug, not a setting on the saw.
Is the cordless saw lighter?
Not against the compact corded slider. The GCM 18V-216 D is listed at 16.2 kg and the GCM 18V-254 D at 17.7 kg. The GCM 800 SJ is listed at 13.5 kg. You drop the lead. The corded GCM 305-254 D is the heavy one, at 19.8 kg.
What if I have no Bosch batteries yet?
Price the corded saw again. Packs and a charger sit on top of £453.00 or £619.07, and those prices are not in the box. The GCM 800 SJ at £229.80 runs from the socket you already have.
Does AMPShare mean every 18 V pack will run it?
Bosch’s pages point to AMPShare as alliance compatibility, and they still name an EXPERT pack of 8 Ah or 12 Ah for runtime. That is not a test of every brand’s 18 V battery. If the pack is outside that system, do not assume the saw will start.
