Bosch jigsaw buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

You have decided on Bosch, and the grid still mixes two complete corded saws with eight bare bodies. This Bosch jigsaw buying guide starts with the plug or the battery, then the depth, then the family you own. Prices are on the [Bosch jigsaw comparison](/hub/power-saws/bosch-jigsaw). Products Compared checked the amazon.co.uk listings and Bosch's UK pages on 19 October 2026. There is no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with a socket or a battery you already own

The PST 700 E is 500 W and 70 mm in wood, with one blade and a case at £44.99. The PST 800 PEL is 530 W and 80 mm, with pendulum, a splinter guard and a case at £59.00. Use the amazon line, not Bosch DIY's higher guide prices that day. Cordless prices are bodies only, from the EasySaw at £57.99 to the GST 18V-125 S at £207.12, and none includes a battery you can count on. If you have a socket and no Bosch batteries, stop at the PST pair. Named picks are on the best Bosch jigsaw page.

Match the wood depth to the job

Amazon often copies Bosch's wood depth into a blade-length field. The PST 700 E and the EasySaw are 70 mm, the PST 800 PEL is 80 mm, and the GST 18V-95 is 95 mm on Bosch's range page while this Amazon table leaves that cell empty. The AdvancedSaw field is 140 mm. Those are listing claims, not a cut we measured. A 20 mm shelf does not need 140 mm. A long straight rip in wood thicker than 40 mm is where the PST 700 E manual sends you to a circular saw. The floor face is on Bosch jigsaw laminate flooring.

Stay inside one battery family

Green 18 V packs and blue Professional 18 V packs are different systems. A green battery does not fit a GST, and a blue pack does not run an EasySaw. The GST 12V-70 is a third family, and the item type still says 10.8 V. One UK review of the GST 18V-125 B says an existing Bosch charger did not fit. Green packs match the EasySaw, UniversalSaw and AdvancedSaw. Blue packs match the GST 18V-95 B and both GST 18V-125 listings. Weekend shelves do not require a blue body. Bare-tool cost is on corded or cordless Bosch jigsaw.

Bow handle or barrel grip

Bosch's URLs call the GST 18V-125 S, model 06015B2000, a barrel grip, and the B, model 06015B3001, a bow handle. The amazon table for the B does not say bow. The S is the L-BOXX at £207.12. The B is the carton at £179.98. A barrel puts the hand lower. Neither is a quality grade. Declared vibration, 7 m/s² on the S and 4.1 m/s² in wood on the B, is a maker figure, not a daily dose.

What the listing gets wrong

The PST 800 PEL is corded at 230 V, yet the page says a lithium-ion battery is required. UK reviews say there is no battery bay. Rows that print 90 W, 125 W, or one AAAA cell on an 18 V AdvancedSaw are not figures you can plan from. The PST 700 E's 5,673 reviews at 4.7 show a widely sold 70 mm saw, not a deeper cut than a GST 18V-125. Stars in this set sit between 4.3 and 4.8.

Common questions

Is the PST 700 E enough for ordinary DIY shelves?
For timber the listing rates to 70 mm, and for curves in shelves around 20–30 mm, the PST 700 E is the complete saw at £44.99, with a blade, a case and a plug. The bullets do not name pendulum, and the amazon angle row says 90 degrees while Bosch DIY prints 45° to 90°.
When is the extra money for the PST 800 PEL worth it?
The £14 between £44.99 and £59.00 buys pendulum, CutControl, a splinter guard, a plastic case and a stated 80 mm wood depth, with a 45-degree angle on the listing. UK reviews mention cleaner faces on wood and laminate when the guard is fitted. It is still one T 144 D blade and no dust bag.
Which Bosch jigsaw uses the batteries I already own?
Green 18 V packs go with the EasySaw, UniversalSaw and AdvancedSaw in this set. Blue 18 V packs go with the GST 18V-95 B and the GST 18V-125 B and S. A 12 V or 10.8 V pack goes with the GST 12V-70 only. The families are not interchangeable, and one UK buyer of the GST 18V-125 B could not use the Bosch charger they already had.
Why do Amazon pages mention a battery on a corded saw?
The PST 800 PEL power source is corded, and UK reviews say there is no battery bay, yet the specification row says one lithium-ion battery is required. That row is a bad catalogue field. The UniversalSaw has the opposite clash: the item type says without battery and the included-components field says Battery.
Should I choose the GST 18V-125 B or the S?
Choose the S, at £207.12, when you want the barrel grip Bosch's URL names and the L-BOXX 136. Choose the B, at £179.98, when a bow handle is what you are used to and a carton is enough. Both are bare Professional 18 V bodies with a 125 mm blade-length field, four-stage orbital action and a dust set. Neither includes the battery.
