Bosch cordless saw for pruning branches

Updated: 21 October 2026

You want dead or overgrown branches cleared in a UK garden, and the [Bosch cordless reciprocating saw](/hub/power-saws/bosch-cordless-reciprocating-saw) category on amazon.co.uk lists five tools that all look like reciprocating saws. For branches you can hold or support at chest height, only one of them is sold as a one-handed garden saw: the Keo. This page explains Keo capacity with and without the A-grip, why the blade in the box is not a promise for live wood, and when a green sabre or a blue demolition GSA is the wrong garden buy. Prices are the 19 October 2026 amazon.co.uk capture. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

The Keo is the pruning saw in this set

B097C41C2S, the Bosch Keo at £69.98 body only on amazon.co.uk (4.4 from 398 reviews in the October 2026 capture), is the garden tool in this comparison. Bosch's UK DIY page lists it under Power for All, with a detachable A-grip, and a role as a garden saw rather than a site sabre. The PSA18V-200 (B0GXBC6GWY) is a full green DIY sabre; it suits fencing and mixed DIY more than small supported branches. UK reviewers who bought the GSA 18V-28 for thick timber tell small-branch buyers to look at the one-handed model instead. If your only goal is garden wood you can reach with both feet on the ground, start with the Keo on a green pack you already own. If you also need demolition or long sabre cuts, read the buying guide and green vs Professional before you pay for a GSA you cannot feed with Power for All packs.

80 mm without the A-grip, 60 mm with it

Bosch's DIY specification for the Keo (order 0600861A01) is the capacity figure to use: 80 mm branch capacity without the A-grip, and 60 mm with the A-grip fitted. Weight with the grip is about 1.4 kg. Stroke rate is 0–2,300 strokes per minute on the maker page. The amazon row that lists 80 mm as blade length, 1.1 kg and 1,900 RPM conflicts with that DIY page. The box is body only: Keo, one Swiss precision wood blade, and carton. No battery and no charger. Bosch recommends at least a 2.0 Ah Power for All pack. Kits with a battery are different order numbers. Wickes or Argos kit prices are not the price of this ASIN.

The wood blade in the box is not a promise for live wood

The included Swiss precision wood blade is a starting point, not a guarantee for every species. A UK reviewer on the Keo listing said the supplied blade was not suitable for live leylandii and switched to a Bosch green wood 5 TPI blade, cutting knotty stems to about 70 mm. Another reviewer described branches around 50 mm, a cut rougher than a hand pruning saw, and a session that felt safer than a mini chainsaw for their use. Slow start is in the amazon bullets, and one UK review notes that full speed is delayed. Other reviews report kickback and vibration stopping work after a few minutes. The blade is exposed compared with a chainsaw bar, so treat unsupported wood and awkward angles as stop signals. For live wood, budget a live-wood blade rather than assuming the carton blade matches your hedge species. Setup for sabre models, not the Keo's garden grip, sits on how to use.

It will not replace a hedge trimmer, a chainsaw or a ladder plan

The Keo is not a hedge trimmer. It removes branch wood with a reciprocating action. It does not give the long, even finish of a hedge cutter on soft growth. Do not treat ladder-plus-saw combinations from reviews as a method to copy. If the branch needs a ladder, work over a highway, or structural removal, stop and use a qualified arborist or a safer access plan. One Keo reviewer wanted a lanyard, which is a sign the tool is easy to drop, not a substitute for stable access. The GSA 18V-28 can tackle thick timber in reviews, including a trunk around 300 mm, but that is demolition class weight and vibration. Blue Professional batteries do not fit the Keo.

Common questions

Will the Keo cut an 80 mm branch with the A-grip fitted?
Bosch's DIY page caps capacity at 60 mm with the A-grip and 80 mm without it. Planning an 80 mm cut with the grip attached overshoots the maker limit. Remove the grip only if you can still control the saw safely without it.
Does B097C41C2S include the battery?
No. Title and scope say excluding battery and charger. UK reviewers use an existing Bosch green 18 V pack. Kits with a 2.0 Ah cell are different product codes.
Which blade for live wood, and what did UK reviewers do on leylandii?
The carton wood blade failed one reviewer on live leylandii. They moved to a Bosch green wood 5 TPI blade and cut knotty material to about 70 mm. Match blade type to green versus dead wood before you blame the motor.
When is the PSA18V-200 or a GSA the better garden tool?
The PSA when you already want a green sabre for mixed DIY and long wood cuts, not for one-handed pruning. GSA models when the wood is site or demolition scale. Reviewers steer small-branch buyers toward the Keo. Neither replaces the Keo's A-grip role on supported branches.
Will my blue Bosch batteries run the Keo?
No. UK reviews report blue Professional packs do not fit green tools. You need Power for All packs for the Keo and the PSA in this set.
