32 mm vs 38 mm pool hose

Updated: 21 October 2026

You are ordering a replacement for an Intex or Bestway above-ground pool, and the title says 32 mm while the pump in the garden might be the other size. A 32 mm vs 38 mm pool hose choice is an inside diameter, plus the shape of the end, not a star rating. The nine listings are on the [pool hose comparison](/hub/pool-care/pool-hose). Which of the three hose jobs you need is on the [pool hose buying guide](/hub/pool-care/pool-hose/sub/pool-hose-buying-guide). The editorial team did not measure your tail.

32 mm and 38 mm are inside diameters

Treat 32 mm as a nominal 1.25 inch bore and 38 mm as a nominal 1.5 inch bore. Both are inside the hose. The outside is larger by twice the wall. A title can still say 32 mm when the field beside it says something else. The clearer 32 mm claims say inner diameter. Uryxery states a 32 mm inner diameter, 150 cm, for 300 to 1000 GPH pumps, with a listed wall of 2 mm. Bestway 58369 states 32 mm (1.25 in) and 3.00 m, and its outside-diameter field is also 32 mm. Qicveqic states 1.25 inch, the same nominal family, at 150 cm. Intex 29060 is 38 mm by 150 cm, and the outside-diameter field says 1.5 inches. A connector is not the bore: the QilaoBanboss title says 32 mm and 1.25 inch, and a bullet puts the connector at about 3.5 cm.

How Intex splits them

Intex's support page states 32 mm for hose 10399, about 300 cm, and 38 mm for hose 11010, about 300 cm, with 2 inch fittings. It maps many pools up to 488 cm (16 ft) to 32 mm, and larger pools plus listed Ultra families to 38 mm. Ultra and Prism frames are among the exceptions, so under 16 ft is not a complete rule. Read that page against your pool's name. The hose in this set is not that 300 cm part. It is 29060, 150 cm, 38 mm, with a 2 inch internal thread, at about £14.95 on the listing checked on 19 October 2026. UK shop pages say to check you do not have the 32 mm pump. If the pool is not Intex, the table does not apply. Intex does not offer adapters for another manufacturer's pool. A Bestway port is outside that map.

Bestway and a title that says 32 mm

Bestway 58369 is the consistent 32 mm example: 3.00 m, outside-diameter field 32 mm, one hose and no clip, 4.5 from 828 reviews. One UK review fitted the pool side and not the pump. Measure each tail. A clip will not turn one into the other. Ousinby is the title you should not trust on its own. The title says 32 mm and the outside-diameter field says 38 mm, at about £15.66, 4.3 from 149 reviews. One UK review says 32 mm was the outside, the pipes missed Bestway pumps, and they went back the same day. Automated Environmental Systems separates Intex 32 mm push-fit, Intex 38 mm push-fit, Bestway 32 mm push-fit, and threaded unions. Bestway push-fit is not Intex push-fit, even at the same nominal bore. If the old hose is gone, measure the rigid tail: the outside of a push-fit, or the thread you can start by hand.

Thread, push-fit, and adapters

A 38 mm hose with a 2 inch internal thread does not push onto a 32 mm tail. There is no clip in the Intex contents field. One UK review said the threads jumped when the nut was fully tightened. Intex lists adapter numbers 26004, 10849, 25023, and 26005 for some Intex-to-Intex mismatches. They are not a Bestway kit, and Intex does not supply adapters for other manufacturers. Once the number and the end match, how to connect a pool hose covers the clip or the nut. Amazon Basics states a 3.8 cm inner diameter, and one UK review still needed an adapter for Intex pumps, so bore is not the whole cuff.

Common questions

Which Intex pools use a 32 mm hose?
Intex's support page maps many of its pools up to 488 cm, or 16 ft, to a 32 mm hose, part 10399, about 300 cm. Larger pools and listed Ultra families use 38 mm, part 11010, about 300 cm, with 2 inch fittings. Ultra and Prism frames are among the exceptions, so "under 16 ft" is not a complete rule. The map is Intex only. If the pool is another brand, measure the tail.
Is 1.25 inch the same as 32 mm?
Yes, as a nominal inside diameter. 38 mm is the nominal 1.5 inch bore. Qicveqic states 1.25 inch, in the same nominal family as 32 mm. Intex 29060 states 38 mm, and its outside-diameter field says 1.5 inches. Nominal does not mean a title and an outside-diameter field are the same measurement. Read which number the seller attached to the hole.
Why did a "32 mm" hose miss my Bestway pump?
The title can be the outside, or the cuff can be a different pattern. Ousinby's title says 32 mm and the outside-diameter field says 38 mm. One UK review said 32 mm was external, the pipes missed Bestway, and they went back the same day. Bestway push-fit is not the same cuff as Intex push-fit, even when both listings say 32 mm. Measure the tail you have.
Is the Intex hose in this set the 38 mm one?
Yes. Part 29060 is 38 mm by 150 cm, with a 2 inch internal thread, at about £14.95 on the listing checked on 19 October 2026. It is not hose 10399, the 300 cm part on Intex's support page. Shop descriptions tell you to check you do not have the 32 mm pump. A 4.6 from 3,324 reviews does not change the diameter. PoolPro and H2O Fun prices are other channels, not this Amazon row.
Can I put a 38 mm hose on a 32 mm port?
Not by forcing the nut. Intex says it does not offer adapters for other manufacturers' sizes. Its numbers 26004, 10849, 25023, and 26005 are for some Intex-to-Intex mismatches, not a Bestway conversion. The 29060 contents field does not list a clip. If the nut will not start, you have the wrong hose. A 4.6-star listing does not become a 32 mm hose.
