Intex filter pump comparison 2026

The best Intex filter pumps, compared.

Top pick: Bewinner cartridge filter pump Best value: Intex C530, UK plug stated – About £53.99 with 220–240 V and a UK three-pin plug stated. Not the lowest price alone: the cartridge letter is missing and the file is seven reviews. Updated October 2026.

An Intex filter pump circulates above-ground pool water through a pleated cartridge or a tank of sand. You want clearer water without emptying the pool every few days. For a British socket, start with 220–240 V and a BS 1363 three-pin plug, then the hose (32 mm or 38 mm), then system flow. A 120 V listing, or one that arrived with an American plug, is a different product from the version of the same name. The 26604NP is the smaller cartridge machine and needs a Type A spare. The SX925 needs about 6.5 kg of silica sand that is not in the box. The MENDUNER and the Bewinner are 16 W kits, not Intex. Why an adaptor is not a fix is in the [UK plug guide](/hub/pool-care/intex-filter-pump/sub/intex-filter-pump-uk-plug). Cartridge pumps use a pleated element you rinse or replace. The C1000 is the Intex class quoted at 1,000 US gallons per hour. The title states 9,463 L/h, a Type B cartridge (59905) and 38 mm hoses, for pools up to 52,900 L. Sand pumps use silica sand and a multiport valve. A 2,800 sand listing states 220–240 V in the title.

The best Intex filter pumps in detail

Bewinner cartridge filter pump

Rank 1

Bewinner cartridge filter pump

∼£49

Our view

The Bewinner pump is a 16 W above-ground cartridge unit at about £49.09. The listing states 330 gallons per hour, which it also writes as 1,249 litres per hour, with ABS construction, 32 mm ports and a weight of 1.2 kg. The kit list is two hoses, two connectors, four buckles, four screws and a manual, and the colour field says no spare filter. Voltage, the plug and a pool litre limit are not stated. The star line is 5.0 from 1 review, and the listing contains no review text, so there is no praise or fault to summarise. A single 5.0 is not the top pick. It is a small pump in the set, not an Intex model.

Pros

  • About £49.09 and a stated weight of 1.2 kg
  • 330 gallons per hour, also written as 1,249 litres per hour, at 16 W
  • 32 mm ports, with hoses, connectors and buckles in the kit list

Cons

  • 5.0 from 1 review, and the listing has no review text
  • Voltage and plug are not stated
  • The colour field says no spare filter
  • No pool litre limit is stated

Best for: A very small above-ground pool, and only after you confirm the mains match yourself.

Less suitable: An Intex pool that needs a known Type A cartridge and a stated UK plug.

Common questions

What flow does the listing state?

330 gallons per hour, also written as 1,249 litres per hour, at 16 W, with 32 mm inlet and outlet ports.

Does it state a UK plug or a voltage?

No. Voltage and plug are not stated. The listing has no review text to confirm either.

Is a spare cartridge included?

The colour field says no spare filter. The kit list names hoses, connectors, buckles, screws and a manual.

Intex 26648BS sand filter pump

Rank 2

Intex 26648BS sand filter pump

∼£194

Our view

This sand filter pump, model 26648BS, is the highest-rated listing in the set that states 220–240 V in the title: 4.6 from 27 reviews, at about £194.49. The title flow is 2,800 GPH, while the specification flow field says 757.08 litres per minute, so the two lines conflict and both are shown. Weight is 21.1 kg and the material line says steel. The plug is not stated. Reviews describe a 6-function valve, a repeating timer, strong filtration against a smaller sand pump, and noise that carries across a garden. One review says 32 mm adapters are extra, one pump stopped inside a year, and another owner says a first unit lasted about five years.

Pros

  • The title states 220–240 V and 2,800 GPH
  • 4.6 from 27 reviews, the highest star line among listings that state that voltage
  • Reviews describe a 6-function valve and a repeating timer
  • One owner says a first unit lasted about five years

Cons

  • About £194.49 and 21.1 kg
  • The plug shape is not stated
  • The flow field says 757.08 litres per minute, which conflicts with the title
  • Reviews mention garden noise, extra 32 mm adapters, and one pump that stopped inside a year

Best for: A larger above-ground pool, if you want a sand pump whose title states 220–240 V and you will check the plug on arrival.

Less suitable: A small Easy Set, or a garden where pump noise carries to the neighbours.

Common questions

Does the title state UK mains voltage?

The title says 220–240 V. The plug shape is not in the specification, so it stays unstated.

Why are there two flow figures?

The title says 2,800 GPH. The flow field says 757.08 litres per minute. Both are printed. They are not the same claim, and neither figure is converted into the other.

What do reviewers say about fittings?

They describe a 6-function valve and a timer. One review says adapters for 32 mm Intex pipes are not included, and another calls it noisy.

Intex C2500 cartridge filter pump

Rank 3

Intex C2500 cartridge filter pump

∼£128

Our view

This C2500, model 55278 and part 26634, is about £127.91 and rated 4.3 from 89 reviews. The title and bullet say 9,463 litres per hour, pools up to 52,900 litres, a Type B cartridge, a three-level gauge, a 2–12 hour timer and 38 mm hoses. The flow field on the same page says 9.46 litres per hour, so the listing contradicts itself. Weight is 12.3 kg, and voltage and the plug are not stated. Only two UK review texts are on the listing: they call it powerful and suitable as a Bestway replacement, and one says an upright Intex pool may need an extra connection. Hydro Aeration is named on the page. That line is not a measured health effect.

Pros

  • The title states 9,463 L/h, pools up to 52,900 litres, and a Type B cartridge
  • 38 mm hoses, a three-level gauge and a 2–12 hour timer
  • 4.3 from 89 reviews, and two UK texts call it powerful
  • Hydro Aeration is stated on the listing

Cons

  • The flow field says 9.46 litres per hour, which contradicts the title
  • Voltage and plug are not stated
  • Adapters for 32 mm hoses are not included
  • 12.3 kg, and one review says an upright Intex pool may need an extra connection

Best for: A large frame pool on 38 mm hoses, once you have confirmed the plug and the voltage.

Less suitable: A 12 ft Easy Set on 32 mm hoses, or any socket where the listing never states 220–240 V.

Intex 26604NP cartridge filter pump

Rank 4

Intex 26604NP cartridge filter pump

∼£67

Our view

This 2,006 litre-per-hour cartridge pump, model 26604NP, is about £66.52 and rated 4.2 from 535 reviews. It states a Type A cartridge, Hydro Aeration, 32 mm hoses and pools up to 13,600 litres, with 38 mm adapters not included. The bullet says a European plug on 220–240 V, and UK reviews repeat that an EU plug arrived rather than a UK three-pin plug. Reviewers who fitted an adaptor still describe strong suction on 10 ft and 12 ft pools. An adaptor is not treated here as a fix for the plug. The printed size of 10 x 10 x 10 mm is what the listing says, and it is not a credible pump size. Hydro Aeration is a stated feature, not a measured health effect.

Pros

  • 4.2 from 535 reviews, with suction comments on 10 ft and 12 ft pools
  • Type A cartridge and 32 mm hoses stated
  • Pool claim up to 13,600 litres
  • Hydro Aeration is stated on the listing

Cons

  • The bullet states a European plug, and UK reviews say an EU plug arrived
  • 38 mm adapters are not included
  • About £66.52, dearer than the listing that states a UK plug
  • The printed size of 10 x 10 x 10 mm is not a credible pump size

Best for: You want a Type A C530 with a large review file and you have already read that the plug is European.

Less suitable: You need a BS 1363 plug stated on the listing, or 38 mm hoses without extra adapters.

Intex C530, UK plug stated

Rank 5

Intex C530, UK plug stated

∼£54

Our view

This C530 is the cartridge pump whose listing states 220–240 V, 50 Hz, 45 W and a UK three-pin plug, at about £53.99. Pump flow is 2,006 litres per hour and system flow is 1,703 litres per hour, for Easy Set pools up to 15 ft and a 12 ft frame pool. Across 7 amazon.co.uk reviews the line is 4.2, and those reviews praise quiet running and a straightforward cartridge change. One review reports hoses that slip off and a pump that stops after about ten minutes. The cartridge letter and the hose diameter are not on this listing, so match the ports on the pool before you rely on the price.

Pros

  • Listing states 220–240 V, 50 Hz, 45 W and a UK three-pin plug
  • Pump flow 2,006 L/h and system flow 1,703 L/h
  • About £53.99, the lowest Intex shelf price in this set
  • Reviews mention quiet running and a straightforward cartridge change

Cons

  • Only 7 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • One review says the hoses slip off and the pump stops after about ten minutes
  • Cartridge letter and hose diameter are not on this listing

Best for: You have an Easy Set up to 15 ft or a 12 ft frame pool and you want the Intex cartridge listing that states a UK three-pin plug.

Less suitable: You need the cartridge letter and hose size printed on the same page, or a larger pool that needs sand.

Intex SX925 26642BS sand filter pump

Rank 6

Intex SX925 26642BS sand filter pump

∼£110

Our view

This SX925 sand filter, model 26642BS, is about £109.99 and rated 4.1 from 96 reviews. The title says it needs 6.5 kg of silica sand, which is not included, and the bullets mention a 6-way valve plus a 24-hour timer. The flow field is printed as 925 gallons per minute, which is the listing’s own figure and sits oddly beside the SX925 name. Voltage and the plug are not stated. Reviews praise backwashing instead of cartridge changes on 10 ft pools, and they also describe motors that die after weeks or a season, leaking pipes, and sand returned to the pool. Sand on this listing is not a claim that sand is always better than a cartridge.

Pros

  • Sand filter with a 6-way valve and a 24-hour timer stated
  • Reviews on 10 ft pools prefer backwashing to rinsing cartridges
  • The listing says replace the sand every 5 years
  • 4.1 from 96 reviews at about £109.99

Cons

  • 6.5 kg of silica sand is not included
  • Voltage and plug are not stated
  • The flow field is printed as 925 gallons per minute
  • Reviews describe motors that fail, leaking pipes, and sand returned to the pool

Best for: You will buy the sand separately and you can confirm the voltage and the plug before you switch it on.

Less suitable: You want a stated UK plug, or you will not backwash and deal with the waste water.

Common questions

Does the sand come in the box?

No. The title says the SX925 requires 6.5 kg of silica sand and that the sand is not included.

Does this listing state the voltage or the plug?

No. Voltage and plug are not stated on this listing. Do not treat the model name alone as a UK plug.

What do the reviews say about reliability?

Many praise clearer water than a cartridge pump. A repeated complaint is that the pump later will not switch on, sometimes after a few weeks.

Intex C1000 cartridge filter pump

Rank 7

Intex C1000 cartridge filter pump

∼£111

Our view

This C1000 is about £111.42 with 3.4 stars from 919 reviews. The voltage field says 120 V, the title quotes a 1,000 GPH pump flow, and the flow field says 1,000 gallons per minute. The box list is one pump, two hoses and one cartridge, plus a 2–10 hour timer and a three-colour gauge. UK reviews describe an American plug, a warning that UK mains are 230 V at 50 Hz, and pumps that stop after a few seconds. A few US reviews describe clear water when the pump is used on US power. Weight and hose diameter are not stated, and this listing does not state a UK plug. An adaptor does not make this listing a UK pump.

Pros

  • A 2–10 hour timer and a green, yellow and red cartridge gauge
  • The box list is one pump, two hoses and one cartridge
  • 919 amazon.co.uk reviews, so the fault pattern is not a single comment

Cons

  • The voltage field says 120 V
  • UK reviews report an American plug and a pump that stops after a few seconds
  • The title says 1,000 GPH while the flow field says 1,000 gallons per minute
  • 3.4 stars, and weight and hose diameter are not stated

Best for: You are on a genuine 120 V supply and you have read the UK reviews before you order.

Less suitable: A UK 230 V socket. An adaptor does not make this listing a UK pump.

The included-components line says one filter pump, two hoses and one filter cartridge.

Does it have a timer?

Yes. The bullets state a 2–10 hour automatic shut-off and a green, yellow and red cartridge gauge.

MENDUNER cartridge filter pump

Rank 8

MENDUNER cartridge filter pump

∼£39

Our view

The MENDUNER kit is about £39.49, rated 3.3 from 41 reviews. It states 16 W, 330 gallons per hour, a flow field of 1,249.2 litres per hour, ABS plastic, 32 mm ports and a weight of 1.26 kg, with hoses and filter elements included. Voltage and the plug are not stated. UK reviews say it cleared a paddling pool and a children's pool, and that the pipes are short. The repeated fault is the cartridge: reviewers say a Type A spare does not fit and they cannot buy a replacement in the UK. One review says the ports must sit at different heights or the water does not flow. The low price does not score as best value, because the spare cartridge is the complaint.

Pros

  • About £39.49, the lowest shelf price in this set
  • 16 W, 330 gallons per hour, 32 mm ports, and hoses included
  • UK reviews say it cleared a paddling pool and a children's pool

Cons

  • Reviewers say a Type A spare does not fit and they cannot buy a replacement in the UK
  • Voltage and plug are not stated
  • The pipes are described as short
  • 3.3 from 41 reviews, and one review says the ports must sit at different heights

Best for: A paddling pool, if you accept that the cartridge may not match a UK Type A spare.

Less suitable: An Intex pool you plan to run all summer on shop-bought Type A cartridges.

Intex SX925 26641EG sand filter pump

Rank 9

Intex SX925 26641EG sand filter pump

∼£141

Our view

This SX925, model 26641EG, is about £141.28 and rated 2.2 from 328 reviews. The bullet gives a pump flow of 925 gallons per hour (3,501 litres per hour), a system flow of 550 gallons per hour, pools up to 4,500 gallons, two 1.25 inch hoses and a 2–12 hour timer. The voltage field says 120 V, and a separate flow field says 15.42 gallons per minute, so the listing contradicts itself. UK reviews say the plug is American, the sand is not included, and units smoked, cut out or tripped the supply. US reviews describe clear water on small pools. It is not a listing that states UK mains. An adaptor or a step-down transformer is not treated as making this 120 V pump acceptable.

Pros

  • The bullet states 925 gallons per hour and two 1.25 inch hoses
  • Timer presets of 2–12 hours
  • A pool claim of up to 4,500 gallons

Cons

  • The specification says 120 V and model 26641EG
  • 2.2 from 328 reviews
  • UK reviews report smoke, a burning smell, and a tripped supply
  • A second flow field says 15.42 gallons per minute, so the page contradicts itself

Best for: A 120 V supply outside the UK, and only if you accept that review record.

Less suitable: Any UK mains socket. The SX925 name on this listing is not a 230 V claim.

No. The specification says 120 V and model 26641EG. UK reviews say a US plug arrived and that an adaptor did not make it run.

Are hoses included?

The bullet says two 1.25 inch connector hoses are included. Reviews say the sand is not.

What went wrong in UK reviews?

Reviewers report a motor that runs for seconds, a burning smell, smoke, and a tripped supply. Some quote extra transformer costs.

How we compared

Nine amazon.co.uk listings were scored on 19 October 2026 from the star lines, the review notes and the fields a UK pool pump needs. Intex Support, the Intex cartridge specification, the SF90220-2 manual and HSE are used for the guides, not as a substitute for a listing’s own voltage line. There was no laboratory test. A 5.0 from one review is not scored as the best pump. A familiar SX925 name is not scored as 230 V when the specification says 120 V. The two flow figures on a listing are both shown, and neither is converted into the other. The four weights below sum to 100.

1

Amazon evidence

30%

Star rating on amazon.co.uk, then a deduction when the count is tiny, when UK texts describe a different country’s plug, or when there is one star and no review text.

2

A stated 220–240 V supply and a stated UK three-pin plug score higher. A stated 120 V supply scores lower. A missing voltage is not treated as 230 V. A flow field that contradicts the title is deducted. Cartridge letter or sand weight, and hose size, score when they are printed.

3

Intex filter pump buying guide

An Intex filter pump in this comparison is a cartridge or sand unit for an above-ground pool, not a submersible pond pump. On these nine amazon.co.uk listings the shelf runs from about £39.49 to about £194.49. Start with 220–240 V and the plug, then hose diameter, then system flow against the pool in litres. A star line under 20 ratings is not a reliability record, and a single 5.0 is not either.

What is an Intex filter pump?

An Intex filter pump circulates above-ground pool water through either a pleated cartridge or a tank of sand and returns it through a jet. UK buyers are mostly households with an Easy Set, metal-frame or Prism Frame pool who want clearer water without emptying the pool every few days. Quality, for a British socket, starts with 220–240 V and a BS 1363 three-pin plug, then hose diameter, then whether the stated system flow can turn the pool over in the window Intex describes.

Best for

  • A small Easy Set or 12 ft frame pool, if you want a cartridge listing that states a UK three-pin plug
  • A larger above-ground pool, if you will backwash a sand pump whose title states 220–240 V and buy the sand separately

Not ideal for

  • A UK socket when the listing states 120 V or the reviews describe an American or Euro plug
  • An Intex pool you plan to run all summer on shop-bought Type A cartridges, if the spare is not a Type A

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Buying on the model name and missing 120 V

The SX925 name appears on a 120 V listing (26641EG) and on a listing that does not state voltage (26642BS). The C1000 voltage field says 120 V. A travel adaptor or a step-down transformer does not make that motor a UK pump. The cited 220–240 V sand manual forbids adaptors and converter plugs.

  2. 2

Using pump flow instead of system flow

The C530 prints 2,006 L/h pump flow and 1,703 L/h system flow. Intex Support sizes the turnover on the system figure, as a 4–6 hour rule of thumb, not as a regulation. Where a flow field contradicts the title, both figures stay on the page and neither is converted into the other.

  3. 3

Fitting the wrong cartridge or closing the air valve too soon

Type A fits the C530 and C1000 class. Type B fits the large cartridge pumps. MENDUNER reviews say a Type A spare does not fit. Close the air valve only after the housing is full, and do not move a sand valve while the pump is running.

What to weigh up

Mains match

High

UK supply is about 230 V at 50 Hz. Prefer a listing and a rating plate that both say 220–240 V and a UK three-pin plug. A missing voltage is not treated as 230 V. A 120 V motor is not fixed by a travel adaptor. The 220–240 V sand manual says not to use adaptors or converter plugs. In this set the C530 at about £53.99 states 220–240 V and a UK three-pin plug. The 26604NP bullet states a European plug, and UK reviews say an EU plug arrived.

Hose, system flow and media

High

Small cartridge pumps and the SX925 class use 32 mm hoses (1.25 inch). The C2500 and larger sand pumps use 38 mm (1.5 inch). Adapters are often not included. The 26604NP listing includes 32 mm hoses and not 38 mm adapters. The C2500 includes 38 mm hoses and not 32 mm adapters. The C530 that states a UK plug does not print the hose diameter. Use the system figure, not the pump figure, when both are printed. Intex Support says the system should filter the whole volume in 4–6 hours.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Small pool, UK plug stated

You have an Easy Set up to 15 ft or a 12 ft frame pool and you want the cartridge listing that states 220–240 V and a UK three-pin plug. The Intex C530 is about £53.99. The cartridge letter and the hose diameter are not on that page, and the review file is seven ratings.

Larger pool, sand and backwash

You will backwash a sand pump and buy the sand separately, and you want 220–240 V in the title. The Intex 26648BS is about £194.49, with 2,800 GPH in the title and 4.6 from 27 reviews. The plug shape is not stated, and reviews mention garden noise.

Large frame pool, Type B

You have a large frame pool on 38 mm hoses and you will fit a Type B cartridge. The Intex C2500 states 9,463 L/h, pools up to 52,900 L and a 2–12 hour timer, at about £127.91. Voltage and the plug are not stated, and the flow field says 9.46 L/h.

Common questions about Intex filter pumps

Will an Intex filter pump run from a UK socket?
UK supply is about 230 V at 50 Hz. Prefer a listing that says 220–240 V and a UK three-pin plug. The C530 at about £53.99 states 220–240 V, 50 Hz, 45 W and a UK three-pin plug. The 26648BS title states 220–240 V, and the plug is not stated. A 120 V motor is not fixed by a travel adaptor. The 220–240 V sand manual says not to use adaptors or converter plugs.
How much does an Intex filter pump cost?
On these amazon.co.uk shelves, checked on 19 October 2026, entry is about £39.49 to about £66.52. That band includes the MENDUNER kit, the Bewinner kit and two C530 listings. Mid shelf is about £109.99 to about £141.28, covering both SX925 rows, the 120 V C1000 and the C2500. The 2,800 GPH sand pump is about £194.49. A low price does not help when the voltage is missing or the spare cartridge does not fit.
Should I buy a cartridge pump or a sand pump?
Cartridge pumps such as the C530 are the smaller machine. You rinse or replace a pleated element, and the small Intex class needs a Type A spare. Sand pumps cost more, need about 6.5 kg of silica sand that is not in the box, and are cleaned by backwashing. Sand is not always the better filter. It is the maintenance you will do, including the waste water from a backwash.
Which cartridge fits an Intex filter pump?
Type A, Intex 59900 or the UK 29000, fits C530 and C1000 class pumps. Type B, 59905, fits the large cartridge pumps. The 26604NP listing states Type A and 32 mm hoses. The C2500 states Type B and 38 mm hoses. The UK-plug C530 does not print the cartridge letter. MENDUNER reviews say a Type A spare does not fit.
How long should I run an Intex filter pump?
Use the system flow, not the pump flow, when both are printed. Intex Support says the system should filter the whole volume in 4–6 hours. That is their rule of thumb, not a regulation. Do not assume a timer on a plain C530. The C1000 states a 2–10 hour shut-off and the C2500 states 2–12 hour cycles. Do not move a sand valve while the pump is running.
Which Intex filter pump is the top pick?
The top pick is the Intex 26648BS at about £194.49. The title states 220–240 V and 2,800 GPH, at 4.6 from 27 reviews. The plug is not stated, and the flow field says 757.08 litres per minute. The best value is the Intex C530 at about £53.99, with a UK three-pin plug and 220–240 V stated. Seven reviews keep it off the top score. For sand units, see the Intex sand filter comparison.
What if the listing says 120 V?
Return it. Do not add a transformer or a travel adaptor. The C1000 voltage field says 120 V, and UK reviews describe an American plug and a pump that stops after a few seconds. The SX925 26641EG specification says 120 V, with UK reviews of smoke and a tripped supply. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires satisfactory quality and goods as described. This page does not claim every 120 V order is refunded.
Do I need an RCD for a pool pump?
Use a socket protected by a 30 mA RCD, and press the test button. HSE says this is particularly advisable outdoors and that an RCD does not prevent every shock. Intex’s SF90220-2 manual also says not to use a portable RCD. Call an electrician if you cannot tell whether the garden socket already has that protection, or if a plug is scorched. Do not stand in the pool and handle the plug.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Intex 26648BS sand filter pump at about £194.49. It has the highest score in this set: the title states 220–240 V and 2,800 GPH, and the star line is 4.6 from 27 reviews. The plug is not stated, the flow field says 757.08 litres per minute, and reviews mention noise and one early failure. The best value is the Intex C530 at about £53.99, the cartridge listing that states 220–240 V and a UK three-pin plug. Seven reviews, one report of hoses that slip, and a missing cartridge letter keep that score below the sand pump. A 5.0 from one Bewinner review is not the top pick. A 120 V SX925 is not treated as a 230 V pump because the name is familiar. None of these scores is a lab test.
