Chlorine free above ground pool

Updated: 21 October 2026

The frame pool went up in May, and the only chlorine-free box in the basket says 20 m³ or 30 m³. A chlorine free above ground pool can use active oxygen when the litres you hold are close to the litres the pack states. A paddling pool is a different decision from a 20,000 litre pool. These amazon.co.uk listings and Bayrol’s Soft & Easy page were used on 19 October 2026, with no lab fill. Prices are on the [active oxygen pool comparison](/hub/pool-care/active-oxygen-pool). How many litres you actually have

Twenty cubic metres is 20,000 litres. Thirty is 30,000 litres. A paddling pool a review calls about 1,000 litres, or an 8-foot pool a little over 2,000 litres, is a tenth of the small sachet box or less. The manufacturer’s fill figure on your pool is the number to start from. If you only know the diameter, look up that model’s litres before you choose a chemical. All Swim and Bayrol put Soft & Easy at a 20 m³ pack and a 30 m³ pack. Those sachets are not written as paddling-pool doses. UK small-pool kits are often chlorine gram sheets for a 10-foot or 12-foot pool. Leave those doses on the chlorine sheet.

Sachets on a frame pool

The 4.48 kg Soft & Easy listing, at £81.33, says up to 20 m³. One UK review describes a 15 ft steel-frame pool on one sachet a week. A 15 ft frame can sit near that claim. The file has three UK texts out of 44. The 5.04 kg listing at £82.50 says up to 30 m³, and its single UK review is an indoor pool. Buying that box for a small frame uses a pouch the pack was not sized for. Bayrol sizes the whole pouch to the stated pool. If the fill line is far below 20 m³, the sachet is the wrong format. When a sachet is the right size, the pump still has to run. Bayrol doses with the circulation on, and you read oxygen one to two hours later, at least 8 mg/L. A paddling pool with no pump cannot do that turnover. The full order is on how to dose active oxygen. Who each listing is for is the best active oxygen page.

What the 1 litre reviews show

AquaCare is 1 litre at £13.99, and the highlight names stabilised hydrogen peroxide and silver. The title includes pools, hot tubs, and ice baths. No volume and no dose are printed, so a review that names litres is that reviewer’s report. It is not a rate you can scale, and it is not a parts-per-million figure from another peroxide brand. In the UK file, a 1,000 litre paddling pool was described as staying clear, and an 8-foot pool a little over 2,000 litres needed more than the whole litre. Other texts report slime within two weeks, missing strips, or a return to chlorine. A £13.99 bottle can still be gone on the first treatment.

Sun, a missed week, and the filter

A frame in July sits in full sun. Bayrol says to double the weekly pouch when the weather is hot or the pool is busy, once you are already on the right pouch size. That is not permission to use two 30 m³ pouches in a paddling pool. If you only test the next morning, you have missed the one-to-two-hour window. A paddling pool with no filter cannot turn the water over. Run the filter you have from before the dose until you have tested. Relax tablets dose per 45.5 m³ and ask for Micro-Cide and Clear Tabs. A 5 kg tub is the wrong buy for a 1,000 litre fill. If the frame is around 20 m³, the 4.48 kg sachet is the listing that states that size. If the water goes green and stays green, call a pool professional rather than emptying a season of chemicals into a vinyl liner.

Common questions

Will Soft & Easy work in a steel-frame pool?
The 4.48 kg listing says pools up to 20 m³, and one UK reviewer used one sachet a week on a 15 ft steel frame and reported clear water. Model 692’s bullets claim metal tanks because the product is free of heavy metals. That claim is only on the £91.50 page, which has no review text. Match the cubic metres first.
Is the 20 m³ box right for a small Bestway?
Only if that pool’s fill volume is near 20 m³, about 20,000 litres. Many small frames are far below that. The 4.48 kg box at £81.33 is the 20 m³ listing. This page does not split the sachet into a homemade small-pool dose. Check the pool’s own litre figure before you order.
Can I use one sachet in a paddling pool?
Bayrol sizes a whole pouch to 20 m³ or 30 m³. A paddling pool around 1,000 or 2,000 litres is not that volume. Pouring one full sachet in, or guessing a fraction, is a dose the label does not give you. The 1 litre bottle is what people in this set tried on paddling pools, and even that has no printed dose.
What if the pool sits in full sun?
Bayrol says to double the weekly pouch in hot or busy weather, once you are on the correct pouch for the volume. Sun is a reason a correctly sized box runs out faster than one pouch a week. Test inside two hours. A warm pool will not hold the reading until the next day.
Do I still need the filter running?
Yes, when the pool has one. Bayrol’s routine is pump on, granules dissolved, then the oxygen test at one to two hours. A paddling pool with no pump is a poor match for a short-lived oxidiser. Switch the filter on before you add the pouch, and leave it on through the test.
