Slat wall panels vs PVC

Updated: October 2026

You have two amazon.co.uk tabs open, both labelled 3D wall panels, and they are not the same product. Slat wall panels vs PVC, in this set, means a 2.4 m MDF board against a box of 300 mm glue-down tiles. Shower cladding, foam hexagons, and the bamboo roll are different again. Products Compared used the rows in the [wall panels comparison](/hub/painting-supplies/wall-panels), priced on amazon.co.uk on 16 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Choose the slat when you want a dry feature wall and a felt sentence that refuses soundproofing. Choose the PVC tile when you want a light texture and you will buy the adhesive.

Two products that share a search

The slat side is MCW’s 2400 × 600 mm board, 12 slats, about 21 mm thick on the dimensions line, about 1.44 m², £42.99. Natural oak is 11 kg. Light oak grey does not state a weight. Walnut is 11 kg, and it is the colour that names acoustic felt. The PVC side is Art3d’s 20-pack of 30 × 30 cm tiles, about 1.80 m². Black is £25.49, with thickness not stated. White is £26.99, 30 × 30 × 2.5 cm. Art3d’s walnut 4-pack at £28.99 is a short MDF slat, four pieces of 60 × 30 × 1.5 cm, about 0.72 m². Put it on the slat side of the argument, not in the PVC box.

Water, weight, and joints

One MCW board is a single 11 kg lift where the weight is printed, with one long joint to the next board. Twenty PVC tiles are light: the black pack is 1.4 kg, the white pack 1.7 kg, and you are aligning a grid. MCW reviews, shared across the three colours, repeat knocked corners from transit. A damaged corner on a 2.4 m board is harder to hide than a single 300 mm tile you can turn or replace. Neither side is a proven bathroom product in this folder. Felt-backed MDF does not belong in a shower, and a fire-resistant bullet without BS EN 13501-1 is not a class you can hand to building control. If the job is a tanked wet room, leave both products. The wider decision order is the buying guide.

What each one does to sound

The walnut MCW board is the only slat row here that names felt and then says the felt helps absorption and is not soundproofing. That is an in-room echo claim with the party-wall myth crossed out on the listing itself. Do not treat the natural oak or grey rows as the same specification as walnut. The PVC tiles have no acoustic claim you can use. They change the look of the wall. The short Art3d slat pack says noise-cancellation with no figure and no standard. If you are treating a desk or a cinema wall, the home studio page is the one that places panels. Gluing a felt board flat is not the same result as a batten cavity with wool, and neither number is printed for these ASINs.

Which to buy in this set

Buy the walnut MCW board when the room is dry, you want one full-height rib, and you can accept about £30 per square metre plus a separate tub of PU adhesive. Skip natural oak and grey if you need the felt sentence to stay stable. Skip the short Art3d slats for that same wall: about 0.72 m² at £28.99 is near £40 per square metre, and one review says the stapled slats came off. Buy the white Art3d tiles when you want a small paintable-looking texture, about 1.80 m² at £26.99, near £15 per square metre, and you will buy adhesive. No review in the extract shows a painted result. Skip both tiles if you wanted echo control or a waterproof shower lining. Fixing order, dust, and the missing glue are on the how to install wall panels page.

Common questions

When do I choose the slat board?
Choose walnut MCW when you want a 2.4 m dry feature wall, a named felt back, and a listing that says this is not soundproofing. You need to handle 11 kg and buy PU adhesive. Oak and grey are the same price and the same face size, with acoustic bullets that contradict themselves. They are a colour choice, not a clearer specification.
When do I choose the PVC tiles?
Choose them for a light textured patch, not for echo and not for a shower. White is the row whose colour and can-be-painted line agree, at £26.99 for about 1.80 m², if you supply glue. Black is cheaper by £1.50 and rests on 16 reviews, with a paint sentence that does not match the colour. Many joints are the trade-off against one heavy board.
Will PVC tiles quiet the room?
Nothing in these PVC listings says they will. There is no NRC and no felt. Reviews talk about the look, missing adhesive, and, on the white pack, shine and uneven edges. If quieting the room means less echo, look at the walnut slat board. If it means the neighbour cannot hear you, neither product does that.
Which is cheaper once I measure the wall?
On printed area, the PVC 20-pack is about £14 to £15 per square metre and one MCW board is about £30 per square metre. The Art3d 4-pack looks cheaper at £28.99 and is about £40 per square metre because it covers about 0.72 m². Add adhesive, and add waste at sockets. These are rules of thumb from the listing sizes.
Is the Art3d 4-pack a slat or a tile?
It is a short slat pack: four MDF and polyester panels, 60 × 30 × 1.5 cm, about 7.75 sq ft. It is not the 30 × 30 cm PVC tile and it is not a 2400 × 600 mm board. Reviews say there is no glue in the box, and one buyer had stapled slats come apart. Use it for a small run.
Are the PVC tiles the same as shower wall panels?
No. Shower panels in UK shop guides are usually interlocking PVC or composite boards sold as a wet-room lining, sometimes with the shop’s own fire wording. These Art3d tiles are glue-down 3D squares. Moisture resistance is a bullet on the black pack, the bathroom question is unanswered, and no Euroclass is printed. Do not install them as a tanked wall.
