Green cross line laser buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are looking at green, self-levelling cross line lasers, and the titles all sound alike. Price is the last thing to rank. A green cross line laser buying guide starts with accuracy only when a distance is printed beside the millimetre figure, then the window and the lock, then power and the contents, then the mount and the class. The [green cross line laser comparison](/hub/measuring-equipment/green-cross-line-laser) holds the product table. Peter F. wrote this on 20 October 2026 from amazon.co.uk listings and public UK sources, with no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Accuracy only counts with a distance

Trust a millimetre figure only when the listing also prints the distance. A rate of 0.3 mm per metre is about 3 mm at 10 m, which is why the DeWalt DW088CG-XJ can show both ±3 mm at 10 m and 0.3 mm/m as one claim. RockSeed prints ±2.5 mm and no distance, so that figure cannot be ranked against the DeWalt or the Enventor. The Enventor EN011G prints ±3 mm at 10 m. The Bosch Quigo Green prints ±0.6 mm/m and up to 12 m, a looser rate, and not the same 10 m mark. Nikotek leaves range and accuracy blank. If two listings cannot share a distance, leave them unranked.

Window, flash and lock

The self-levelling window is the tilt the pendulum can still correct. Printed windows here are about ±3° or about ±4°. Outside that window the line should flash, and a flash is not a level you mark. Enventor flashes twice a second beyond 4°±1°. Huepar blinks beyond 4°. DeWalt's amazon.co.uk bullets do not state the degrees. The DW088 family manual describes a flash above 4°. Keep that manual fact off the listing. Bosch's DIY page states ±4° for the Quigo Green. The amazon.co.uk listing does not. Lock the pendulum before you carry the tool. A locked line can be a slope, and that slope is not level. The button sequence is on how to use a self-levelling cross line laser.

Power and the box you can prove

Cells and a built-in pack are a runtime choice, not a quality badge. DeWalt includes 3× AA. Enventor includes 2× AA and states up to about 4 hours. The Bosch Quigo Green uses 2× AAA. Huepar states up to about 6 hours from a 1400 mAh pack. Those hours are listing claims. Read the contents lines separately when they disagree. The CIGMAN title says rechargeable, the what-you-get line lists 2× AA, and a components line lists a USB-C cable. Do not merge them. Enventor names a magnetic bracket and a flannel bag and does not include a tripod.

Mount, class and daylight

Most of these tools expect a 1/4 in-20 thread, a magnetic bracket, or both. DeWalt includes a magnetic pivot and a case, names the DE0892G detector out to 50 m, and does not put that detector or a tripod in the box. Enventor's bracket is in the box. Bosch arrives with a clamp rather than a hard case. If the title promises a tripod and the package bullet does not, believe the bullet. Class II is the older name for Class 2. A short glance is limited by looking away. Staring is not safe. DeWalt's listing leaves class blank. The manual states Class 2, and that is a manual fact, not a line on the listing. IP54 is dust and splashes, not rain. Enventor and Huepar are not for outdoor use, and no detector is in these boxes. LUODIRGB says indoor green and prints 650 nm, which public UK guidance treats as red. Five ratings are not a sample. Named choices are on the best green cross line laser page.

Common questions

What should I read before the price?
Read accuracy with a distance, then the window and the lock, then the cells and the contents lines, then the mount and the class. A lower price does not fill a blank millimetre figure. Nikotek can be the cheapest here and still leave range and accuracy blank.
Is ±2.5 mm useful if no distance is printed?
No, not for ranking. RockSeed prints ±2.5 mm without a distance, so you cannot tell whether that error is at 5 m or at 10 m. Compare it only with a figure that prints both, such as ±3 mm at 10 m.
What does a 4° self-level window mean?
The base can be about 4° out of level and the pendulum is still meant to settle a true line. Beyond that window the beam should flash, and you do not mark from a flash. Enventor prints 4°±1°. DeWalt's amazon.co.uk bullets do not print the degrees.
Why does the pendulum lock matter before I carry it?
The pendulum is a hanging mass. Carry the tool unlocked and a knock can bend that movement. Lock it before it goes in a bag. A locked line can show a slope you set on purpose, and that slope is not level.
Is IP54 waterproof?
No. IP54 describes dust and water splashes on the housing. It does not mean the tool can sit in rain, and it does not make a shower waterproof.
Does a green beam mean it is more accurate?
No. Accuracy is the printed millimetre rate at a stated distance. Green changes how easily you see the line indoors. A listing that says green and also prints 650 nm has not proved the diode colour.
What if the title and the package bullet disagree about the tripod?
Keep both lines and do not merge them. The RockSeed title that mentions a 65.6 cm tripod is not proved by a package bullet that omits it. The same rule applies when a CIGMAN title says rechargeable and the contents list 2× AA.
