Bosch Quigo green or red

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are in a bright kitchen, a red line is hard to see on pale tiles, and the next listing promises a green beam that is up to four times easier to see. Bosch Quigo green or red is a visibility choice for indoor rooms. On amazon.co.uk on 20 October 2026 the stated green tools in our [Bosch cross line laser comparison](/hub/measuring-equipment/bosch-cross-line-laser) were the Quigo Green clamp at £65.60, the Quigo Green tripod kit at £82.39, and the UniversalLevel 360 at £137.00. We did not measure brightness in a lab. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Choose green for a bright indoor room, and keep red for a dimmer one.

What brighter means

UKHSA says sensitivity peaks near 555 nm, and it gives a rough brightness ratio at equal power of about 1 to 7 to 30 to 1 for 670 nm, 635 nm, 532 nm, and 445 nm. Red diodes in this Bosch set sit around 630–650 nm. The green Quigo and UniversalLevel 360 diodes sit around 500–540 nm, nearer that peak, so a green line can look brighter at the same power. That ratio is UKHSA's general note, not a measurement of these nine listings. Bosch's up to four times line is a manufacturer claim. None of these kits includes a receiver. Class 2, where a listing states it, is visible light from 400–700 nm. Staring is hazardous, and UKHSA keeps eye-safe for class 1.

Which listings are actually green

Three listings state a green beam: Quigo Green with a clamp, B097DQ7YPX, at £65.60; Quigo Green with a 1.1 m tripod, B0CGXVCG15, at £82.39; and the UniversalLevel 360, B0CGXSPF39, at £137.00, rated 4.5 from 63 reviews. The two Quigo Green ASINs share review text and the same count of 579. Do not add those counts. The clamp listing prints model line 0601066P00, which does not match the Quigo Green title, so read the model line before you assume the diode. The colour field on the £39.95 Quigo, B0CMM2GLT5, says Green, and the bullets do not name the diode. Reviews of B0CGXSPRWP at £55.14 call the line red, and that listing states class 2, ±0.8 mm/m, and up to 7 m. The GLL 2-10 and the GCL 2-15 are red in pictures and in reviews, and their bullets do not name the diode. Layout belongs on the Bosch cross line laser buying guide.

Indoors, then the outdoor return

Indoors, green earns its place when the room is bright: a south-facing kitchen, pale tiles, or a window that washes a red line out at noon. Quigo Green states ±0.6 mm/m and up to 12 m. You are paying about £10 to £27 over the £55.14 Quigo, depending on clamp or tripod, for a line you can see without closing the blinds. Outdoors, a Quigo Green was sent back because the line could not be seen on a dull day. Strong daylight still needs a receiver, and this set does not include one. How you mark a line you can see is on how to use a Bosch cross line laser.

When red is enough

Red is the clearer buy when the room is dim enough that a red line already sits sharp on the wall. B0CGXSPRWP at £55.14 is the listing reviewers describe as red, with class 2 stated and 4.2 from 329 reviews. You spend less than the green clamp and you keep ±0.8 mm/m. Accuracy does not come from the colour. The figures run from ±0.8 mm/m on the Quigo bullets to ±0.3 mm/m on the GLL 2-10 and the GCL 2-15, and buyers describe those last two lines as red. A Quigo Green is still a DIY cube if the only change is the diode. The series split is on Bosch Quigo vs GLL 2-10. For daylight outdoors, neither colour in this set is the tool.

Common questions

Is a green Bosch line actually brighter, or only marketed that way?
Green can look brighter because the eye is more sensitive near 555 nm, which UKHSA sets out in its laser advice. Red diodes here are about 630–650 nm and the green Quigo diodes about 500–540 nm. Bosch's up to four times wording is a manufacturer claim, not a figure we measured. The claim applies only when the listing actually states a green diode.
Will a Quigo Green show on a sunny wall?
Do not buy a Quigo Green for a sunny wall. One buyer returned a unit because the line was invisible outdoors on a dull day, and the tool is positioned for indoor use. None of these kits includes a receiver. It is not a daylight layout tool.
Is the £39.95 Quigo a green laser because the colour field says Green?
No. B0CMM2GLT5 at £39.95 has a colour field that says Green, and the selling bullets do not name the diode. Treat it as a Quigo whose colour is unstated, at ±0.8 mm/m and up to 7 m, rated 4.2 from 96 reviews. The listings that state green are the two Quigo Green kits at £65.60 and £82.39, and the UniversalLevel 360 at £137.00.
Does green change the accuracy?
Colour and accuracy are separate lines on the listing. Quigo Green states ±0.6 mm/m. Other Quigo bullets state ±0.8 mm/m. The GLL 2-10 and GCL 2-15 state ±0.3 mm/m, and buyers describe those lines as red. Green is not the reason those Professional figures are tighter.
When is a red Bosch cross line laser the clearer buy?
Red is the clearer buy in a dimmer room, where you can already see the line, and you would rather keep the £55.14 of B0CGXSPRWP than pay £65.60 or £82.39 for green. It is also the description reviewers give the GLL 2-10 and GCL 2-15, which you buy for ±0.3 mm/m, IP54, or plumb points, not for colour.
