Bosch cross line laser buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You have a hallway of pictures, a short run of kitchen tiles, or a socket height that has to match on the far wall, and the Bosch shelf shows more crosses than you can tell apart. This Bosch cross line laser buying guide puts the checks in order: the shape of the job, then the stated millimetres per metre, then colour, then whether the mount reaches the mark. The nine amazon.co.uk listings in our [Bosch cross line laser comparison](/hub/measuring-equipment/bosch-cross-line-laser) were priced from £39.95 to £137.00 on 20 October 2026. We did not run a lab test, and this page does not name a winner. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

One wall, a plumb transfer, or a line around the room

Start with the shape, because a tighter tolerance cannot add a line the tool does not throw. One wall needs a cross: the MM 2 Quigo at £39.95, the class 2 Quigo at £55.14, the Quigo Plus at £77.17, and the two Quigo Green kits at £65.60 and £82.39. Floor-to-ceiling transfer needs plumb points, which here means the UniversalLevel 2 at £99.99 or the GCL 2-15 at £119.99. A line around the room needs the UniversalLevel 360 at £137.00, a 360° horizontal line and a 120° vertical line that does not wrap both sides. Which listing matches which job is on the best Bosch cross line laser page.

Stated accuracy and the range footnote

Once the shape is right, read the stated accuracy as millimetres per metre. The Quigo and Quigo Plus bullets state ±0.8 mm/m. Quigo Green states ±0.6 mm/m and up to 12 m. The UniversalLevel 2 states ±0.5 mm/m, and the UniversalLevel 360 states ±0.4 mm/m. The GLL 2-10 and the GCL 2-15 state ±0.3 mm/m. Several Quigo bullets also say up to 7 m. The Quigo manual says at least 10 m, reduced by sunlight. The amazon.co.uk bullets for the UniversalLevel 2, the UniversalLevel 360, and the GCL 2-15 do not state a metre range. The GLL 2-10 bullets do state up to 10 m.

Colour and mount come after the job

Green can look brighter in a bright indoor room. It does not make these kits work on a sunny wall, and none of them includes a receiver. The stated green listings are the two Quigo Green kits and the UniversalLevel 360. The £39.95 Quigo's colour field says Green, while the bullets do not name the diode, so do not buy that row as a green laser on the chip alone. Red, green, and the up to four times claim are on Bosch Quigo green or red. Tripods with the Quigo Plus and the Quigo Green tripod kit are about 1.1 m, and B0CGXVCG15 says up to 110 cm, so the line sits at tool height. The GCL 2-15's RM 1 hangs from a nail and does not then adjust height. IP54 is stated only on the GLL 2-10 and the GCL 2-15.

What this set does not include

This set does not include a receiver, a rotary, or the green GCL 2-15 G. Bosch's own shelf the same day sat higher on several models, including a GLL 2-10 at £129.60 including VAT beside the Amazon price of £89.95. B097DQ7YPX is titled as a Quigo Green and prints model line 0601066P00, which does not match that title. B0CGXRFF6M prints model 06036636Z0 and part number 0603663602. The two Quigo Green ASINs share review text and the same count of 579, so do not add them. Class 2, where a listing states it, means a visible beam you should not stare into. UKHSA reserves eye-safe for class 1.

Common questions

Do I need a cross, plumb points, or a 360° line?
You need a cross for pictures, shelves, or tiles on one wall. You need plumb points if a height has to move from the floor to the ceiling, which in this set means the UniversalLevel 2 or the GCL 2-15. You need a 360° horizontal line if the mark has to go around the room, which means the UniversalLevel 360. A Quigo does not wrap a ceiling.
What does ±0.8 mm/m mean on a 4 m wall?
±0.8 mm/m on a 4 m wall is 3.2 mm if you multiply the stated figure by the distance. The same wall at ±0.3 mm/m, the figure on the GLL 2-10 and the GCL 2-15, is 1.2 mm. That is arithmetic from the listing, not a lab result. A single picture hook hides 3 mm. A long tile run does not.
Why do some listings say 7 m when the Quigo manual says at least 10 m?
Several Quigo bullets on amazon.co.uk say up to 7 m. The Quigo manual says at least 10 m, and it says sunlight reduces that distance. Both can be true of different pages. Use the bullet on the listing you are buying as the claim Amazon is making, and use the manual as the footnote about light. Do not copy a 12 m or 15 m shelf figure onto a listing whose bullets leave the range blank.
Will the included tripod mark a ceiling?
The 1.1 m tripods in this set, including the Quigo Green kit rated up to 110 cm, put the line at about tool height. They will mark a mid-wall shelf. They will not reach a ceiling at about 2.4 m. Measure up from a steady lower line, or use a taller support. Do not tip a self-levelling tool at the ceiling and treat the result as level.
Which listings state IP54?
IP54 is stated for the GLL 2-10 at £89.95 and the GCL 2-15 at £119.99. In plain terms that code means dust-protected and resistant to water splashed from any direction. It is not a promise of all-day rain. The Quigo listings in this set do not state an IP rating. Do not borrow IP54 from a shop grid that mixes specs onto a cube.
