Corded or cordless lawn mower

Updated: October 2026

A corded or cordless lawn mower here is seven corded listings against three kits. If 10 m or 11 m reaches dry grass, corded is the continuous-power choice. Minutes on a kit stay claims. The shelf prices, from £49.99 to £229.00, are on the [Wolf Garden lawn mower comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/wolf-garden-lawn-mower). The top pick on that table is a corded collector. The best value is also corded. A kit is the alternative when the socket stops short. Listings were read for 16 October 2026. The fork in this set

Corded: Einhell GC-EM 1600/37, Hyundai HYM3800E, Hyundai 33 cm, Flymo Hover Vac 250, BLACK+DECKER BEMWH551-GB, Flymo EasiStore 380R, and Flymo Speedi-Mo 360C. Kits: WORX WG737E, LIGO GY2150, and swift EB122C. Expert Reviews says measure to the farthest corner, keep mains for a small garden close to the house, and look at cordless if the lawn stretches away. Petrol is their exit when the cable cannot reach and the battery will not last. That is not a fourth mower reviewed here. B&Q's size table is a retailer's rule of thumb, and it conflicts with Einhell's up to 700 m² claim. Width and box come first on the buying guide.

What the lead reaches

Five corded listings print a 10 m lead: Einhell, the HYM3800E, the Hover Vac 250, the BLACK+DECKER, and the EasiStore. The Hyundai 33 cm model prints 11 m and describes the cable as detachable. The Speedi-Mo does not print a lead length, so do not borrow 10 m from the other Flymos. A 10 m lead from a back-wall socket covers grass inside that arc. It does not cover a lawn that starts 10 m from the house and then continues. If you add a lead, add one outdoor extension, fully unwound. Electrical Safety First wants an RCD, dry grass, and the reel unwound so it does not overheat. Do not daisy-chain a second reel. Einhell, the HYM3800E, and the EasiStore are 1,600 W, which is why the reel has to be rated for the load. This extract does not give an amp figure. Call an electrician for a damaged lead or a new outdoor socket.

What the three kits include

A kit removes the lead and adds whatever the box lists. The WORX WG737E includes two 20 V 4.0 Ah batteries and a charger, at 15.3 kg and £229.00. Up to 550 m² is their claim. Two packs are not a measured double runtime. How to charge a garden battery is on charging garden tool batteries safely. The operation-mode field says Automatic, and the bullets describe a push mower. The LIGO GY2150 includes two 2.0 Ah batteries and a fast charger, at £81.19, with a 25 L bag. It still has the height conflict: bullets at 30–60 cm, a table at 0.98–2.17 inches, and both three and five positions. Automatic is not a driven axle. The swift EB122C includes one 40 V 2.0 Ah battery and a fast charger, at 5.2 kg and £134.99. Up to 35 minutes is the listing's claim, not a time we measured.

When the saving is not worth it

Cordless is not automatically lighter. The swift at 5.2 kg is the lightest here. The WORX at 15.3 kg is the heaviest. A 15.3 kg kit can be harder to carry upstairs than a corded mower on a socket. The lead is the cheaper side only when the socket reaches. Corded rows run from £49.99 to £158.31. Cordless rows run from £81.19 to £229.00. The WORX premium is worth it when the far corner is beyond 10 m or 11 m. When the socket already covers the grass, you are paying to remove a lead you can use. There is no petrol row here.

Common questions

Should I buy corded or cordless for a lawn next to a socket?
If a 10 m or 11 m lead reaches the far edge of dry grass, choose a corded listing. You get power for as long as the socket is on. Choose one of the three kits when that lead stops short. Petrol is the exit when both fail, and it is not reviewed on this page.
Is 10 metres of cable enough?
It is enough when the far edge sits inside a 10 m arc from the socket, with slack to walk. The Speedi-Mo does not print a length, so do not borrow 10 m from the other Flymos. Measure your corner before you assume the included lead finishes the job.
Which listings include a battery and a charger?
Three. The WORX WG737E lists two 20 V 4.0 Ah batteries and a charger. The LIGO GY2150 lists two 2.0 Ah batteries and a fast charger. The swift EB122C lists one 40 V 2.0 Ah battery and a fast charger. The other seven listings are corded. A second pack means a second pack, not a measured doubling of runtime.
Will a second battery mean I can mow for longer?
It means you have two batteries to charge and swap. The WORX and the LIGO each include two packs. The swift includes one. None of those pages gives a runtime this project timed. The swift's up to 35 minutes is the listing's claim. Which?'s 22-minute average belongs to the models they reviewed, not to these three kits.
What if I still need an extension lead?
Use one outdoor extension, fully unwound, and do not daisy-chain a second reel. Electrical Safety First wants an RCD, dry grass, and a reel rated for the load. This extract does not print an amp figure. A damaged lead or a new outdoor socket is an electrician's job.
