Cordless scarifier battery life

Updated: October 2026

The scarifier died halfway down the lawn, and the listing had promised 45 minutes. Cordless scarifier battery life is where those two numbers are allowed to disagree, as long as you keep the source on each one. A listing claim, a UK review, and a magazine session are three kinds of figure. This page does not average them, and it does not tell you which battery family to join. That choice is [cordless scarifier battery included](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/cordless-scarifier/sub/cordless-scarifier-bare-or-kit). The six rows are the [cordless scarifier comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/cordless-scarifier). Peter F. used the amazon.co.uk files, noted UK reviews, Gardeners' World and Ryobi UK, and did not time a charge. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Three kinds of number

A listing minute is what the amazon.co.uk file prints: 45 minutes, 90 minutes, up to 200 m², up to 400 m². A review minute is what one owner finished on a named pack. Gardeners' World scarified with the WORX WG855E.9 for about 15 minutes on two 4.0 Ah packs. That session is not the listing’s 45 minutes, and you cannot paste it onto an Einhell. Adding 15 and 45 invents a test this comparison did not run. Ryobi UK claims up to 525 m² on two 5 Ah packs for the RY18SFX35A. That figure is not on the captured amazon.co.uk file, so it stays a maker claim.

What these six files actually say

The WORX listing says 45 minutes and up to 400 m². Gardeners' World’s session is about 15 minutes of scarifying on two 4.0 Ah packs. A UK review of two 5 Ah packs also describes about 15 minutes. The listing and the session can both be quoted. They cannot be blended into one runtime. The Einhell GE-SC 35 Li listing says 90 minutes. One UK review describes about an hour on a 4.0 Ah pack. The Einhell GC-SC 18/28 Li listing says 45 minutes and up to 200 m². UK reviews more often describe about 15–20 minutes, including one report of overheating at about 15 minutes. The Ryobi listing prints no runtime. Bluemars has no listed minutes, and reviews disagree, including about 10 minutes on one charge. EcoBuild has no listed runtime and only three reviews. Leave that gap empty.

Amp-hours and a second pair

Reviewers talk about 4 Ah, 5 Ah and sometimes 6 Ah. That language is not a lab. On the 28 cm Einhell, UK reviews name a 4 Ah pack, and one owner of a lawn over 300 m² suggests 6 Ah. A WORX review says two 5 Ah packs is the maximum that machine will take. Bluemars states 4.0 Ah. EcoBuild’s spec table does not. Two packs on a 36 V or 40 V title run together. They are not a longer minute by themselves. A second pair is a purchase, not a setting. A bigger bag does not add minutes. Gardeners' World’s 40 L box was full in under a minute while the packs were still running.

When runtime means the wrong tool

A lawn of several hundred square metres is where these packs stop being a one-afternoon tool, unless you own spare pairs and you accept the stops. The 500 m² Einhell review is the warning. Hire, or split the job over more than one day, when the lawn is larger than the packs you can carry. Overheating at about 15 minutes, on the one Einhell 28 cm review that reports it, is a reason to stop and let the machine cool. If the machine stops while the gauge still shows charge, as in the Ryobi review, fit a second pack you already own. A deeper blade setting does not add charge.

Common questions

Why does the listing say 45 minutes when a review says 15?
They are different sources. The WORX amazon.co.uk listing says 45 minutes and up to 400 m². A UK review of two 5 Ah packs says about 15 minutes, and Gardeners' World reported about 15 minutes of scarifying on two 4.0 Ah packs. The Einhell 28 cm listing says 45 minutes, and reviews more often say about 15–20 minutes. Quote the source you mean. Do not average 15 and 45 into a number nobody measured.
Do two batteries last longer than one?
On these machines, two packs usually make the 36 V or 40 V the title prints. They run together. They are not a spare you swap in halfway, unless you own a second pair. The 28 cm Einhell is the body that runs on one 18 V pack. The wider Einhell, the Ryobi, and the WORX need two at once. More voltage on the box is more load on those packs, not a longer listing minute.
Is 4 Ah enough, or do reviews ask for 5 Ah or 6 Ah?
Reviews name 4 Ah on the smaller Einhell and on the Gardeners' World WORX session. A WORX review treats two 5 Ah packs as the maximum that machine will take, and says they run out quickly. One owner of an Einhell lawn over 300 m² suggests 6 Ah. Those are reviews, not a spec line you can demand from every listing. Bluemars states 4.0 Ah. EcoBuild’s table does not.
What if the machine stops while the battery still shows charge?
One Ryobi review says the machine stops when the pack drops a bar. The gauge is not a promise that the strip will finish. Fit the second pack the bullets already require, or stop for the day. One Einhell 28 cm review reports overheating at about 15 minutes. Let it cool. Do not fix a stop by setting the blades deeper. That changes the cut, not the charge.
When is the lawn too big for the packs you own?
When one charge, on the review that matches your pack size, does not cover the ground you can see. A lawn around 500 m² already shows up as underpowered on one Einhell 35 cm review. Reviews of charging across more than one session are the same warning. Hire, or own a spare pair and accept the stops.
