Best cordless multi tool

Updated: October 2026

You want a short list, in pounds, from the amazon.co.uk listings in this comparison, and you will skip a row that does not match the job or the packs you already own. Star ratings mix a bare body, a complete oscillating kit and a rotary pen. Some UK roundups rank later DeWalt bodies that are not the ASIN in this table. Prices are the rows on the [cordless multi tool comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/cordless-multi-tool). Peter F. read the listings on 22 October 2026 and did not lab-test these tools. If you already own DeWalt 18 V packs

The strongest star line is the DeWalt DCS355N-XJ, ASIN B00HER8E5A, at about £72.00. It is 4.8 from 6,205 reviews, a brushless 18 V XR body at 1.1 kg, with an LED and a quick-change clamp. Reviewers who already own the batteries use it for flush skirting, plaster cuts and sanding. That volume is why it is the top pick for a bare oscillating body. The battery is not included and a charger is not stated. The power-source cell prints AC beside a cordless title. Treat that as a listing conflict, not a 13 A plug. A later DCS359 is not this ASIN. The missing charger is on the battery platform page.

If you own no packs and need an oscillating kit

The complete oscillating kit with a large review count is the Enventor 98606 at about £69.99: a 20 V brushless tool, one 2.0 Ah battery, a charger and a case, with 4.4 from 546 reviews. That is the best value if you do not already own a DeWalt or Makita slide, because the carton can charge on day one. Plunge cuts are limited to soft wood and plastic. The same reviews include a missing battery that Amazon replaced, a sanding plate that came off, blades that blunt, and a stop after dusty sanding. It is not stated as Makita or DeWalt compatible. The YEARTOP at about £55.24 and the byczone at about £59.99, with 4.6 from 43 reviews, do not replace that sample. Bare-versus-kit checks are on the buying guide.

If the job is rotary, not a plunge

A rotary winner is a different job from a jamb. The Dremel Lite 7760 is about £53.60, 3.6 V and 274 g, with 4.6 from 1,452 reviews. Buyers use it for detailing. Reviews also say it is less powerful than a plug-in Dremel, and a technical cell prints 25 RPM against an 8,000–25,000 RPM highlight. The 8150 at about £67.15 does not run while charging, in one UK review. The 8240 at about £94.94 reaches 35,000 RPM with five accessories and is still a spinning collet. Sort the motion on the oscillating or rotary page before you sort by stars.

Rows that look strong and are not

The Smrbatbauy at about £49.99 shows 4.7 from 12 reviews, and only the first two describe an oscillating tool. The rest of the file is a DeWalt work light, and the weight cell prints 17 kg. The Normodic at about £49.99 has no customer-review line and does not name a charger. The AOZOY at about £15.47 is 4.3 from 1,565 reviews, and the listing says it is not for large or heavy projects. It is not the best value for a door jamb.

Common questions

Which rotary tool has 1,452 reviews?
The Dremel Lite 7760 at about £53.60, 3.6 V, 4.6 from 1,452 reviews. Reviews use it for detailing and craft, and they also say it is less powerful than a plug-in Dremel. A speed cell prints 25 RPM against an 8,000–25,000 RPM highlight. It does not replace an oscillating tool for a jamb.
Why is 4.7 from 12 reviews not the winner?
The Smrbatbauy at about £49.99 shows 4.7 from 12 reviews. Two UK reviews describe an oscillating tool on a DeWalt 20 V pack. After those two, the file is reviews of a DeWalt work light. The weight cell prints 17 kg. Twelve ratings, most of them about a different product, are not a reason to prefer it over 6,205 reviews of the DCS355N.
What if I do not own a DeWalt or Makita pack?
Buy a kit whose own battery and charger are named in the box. The Enventor at about £69.99 is the oscillating kit with 546 reviews. The YEARTOP at about £55.24 says its two 4.0 Ah packs must not go on a Makita charger. The Dremel kits include their own batteries. A bare DeWalt or WOSIFUPO still needs a pack you do not have.
Is the £15 tool the best value for a door jamb?
No. The AOZOY at about £15.47 is a 3.7 V mini rotary, and the listing says it is not for large or heavy projects. A door jamb is an oscillating cut in timber. The price can suit models and jewellery if you accept bits that come loose.
Are newer DeWalt bodies missing from this table?
Yes. UK trade pages sell a DCS359 bare body at a higher price than about £72.00, and other roundups discuss a DCS356N. Neither ASIN is in this comparison. The DeWalt row here is only B00HER8E5A, the DCS355N-XJ. Do not copy a trade-counter price onto this ASIN. If you need that later body, it is a different listing.
