Makita 18 V multi tool battery

Updated: October 2026

You already own DeWalt 18 V or Makita 18 V packs, or you are looking at a kit that says compatible and also puts its own batteries in the box. A Makita 18 V multi tool battery can mean your own pack on a third-party body, a copy pack that must not touch a Makita charger, or a bare tool with no pack at all. This page is that fit. Shelf prices stay on the [cordless multi tool comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/cordless-multi-tool). Peter F. read the amazon.co.uk listings on 22 October 2026 and did not run a workshop fit test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Bare tool on a system you already own

The DeWalt row is the DCS355N-XJ at about £72.00, an 18 V XR brushless body. The title says tool only. Batteries are required and not included, and a charger is not stated. If the packs are not on your shelf, that price is not a working tool. The capacity cell prints 2 Ah even though no pack is in the box. The power-source cell says AC beside a cordless title. Treat that as a listing conflict, not a 13 A plug. If you do not own the platform, use the buying guide and price a kit.

A body that asks for your Makita pack

The WOSIFUPO at about £41.99 is a brushless body with no battery and no charger. The listing names BL1820, BL1830, BL1840, BL1850, BL1860, and the same codes with a B suffix. Several UK reviews say a Makita pack fitted. One buyer returned it because their packs did not fit. Compatible here is not a measurement we repeated. The dimensions cell prints 10 × 10 × 10 mm, which is not a size. The bullet limits the body to low-intensity sawing, sanding and trim. Check the click on day one. Do not force a WOSIFUPO with an adapter, and do not put a DeWalt pack on it.

Kits whose batteries are not the brand’s

The YEARTOP at about £55.24 includes two 4.0 Ah packs and a charger, and it says those packs must not go on original Makita tools or chargers. A review says they do not fit a standard Makita charger. The voltage cell prints 21 V beside the 18 V claim. Charge them on the charger in the box. The Normodic at about £49.99 claims two 2,000 mAh batteries and Makita compatibility, and a charger is not named. There is no review line in the file. The Enventor at about £69.99 includes its own 20 V pack and does not claim a Makita or DeWalt slide. Who should buy the kit versus the bare body is the best cordless multi tool page.

What does not fit means for the order

Prove the claim with the pack in your hand on day one. It should click, stay put when you tug it, and charge only on the charger the listing allows. If the named pack does not fit, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is the frame for a return, not a reason to file the slide or to charge a copy pack on a forbidden charger. The WOSIFUPO file already has one return because Makita packs did not fit. If the Normodic charger is not named, you do not yet have a working kit. If the pack clicks and you are about to fit a blade, the plunge limits are on the how to use page.

Common questions

Can I charge the YEARTOP packs on my Makita charger?
No. Compatibility is one way only. The included 4,000 mAh packs and charger must not be used on original Makita tools or chargers. A review says the packs do not fit a standard Makita charger. Charge the kit packs on the charger in the box. The voltage cell prints 21 V beside the 18 V wording.
What if the pack does not click?
Stop. Do not file the rails or bridge the terminals. If the listing named your pack and it does not fit, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is the frame for a return. The WOSIFUPO file contains one return for that reason. A YEARTOP pack that will not go on a Makita charger is what the warning told you to expect.
Is a DeWalt 20 V title the same as owning a DeWalt tool?
No. The Smrbatbauy title says DeWalt 18 V or 20 V, and the battery is not included. The brand on the listing is Smrbatbauy, not DeWalt. Two reviews describe an oscillating tool on a reviewer’s own DeWalt 20 V pack. The rest of the review file is a work light, and the weight cell prints 17 kg. A yellow housing is not the DCS355N.
Does the Dremel 8240 use the same packs?
No. The 8240 is a 12 V rotary tool at about £94.94, and the bullets say its 2 Ah pack is compatible with the Bosch 12 V system. That is a different slide from Makita 18 V and from DeWalt 18 V XR. The Lite and the 8150 use their own packs. None of them takes a BL1850.
What is a fair check before I keep the tool?
On the first day, the pack should click and stay put when you tug it, and it should charge only on the charger the listing allows. Then do a short, low-speed cut in the material the bullet allows. For an Enventor plunge, that is soft wood or plastic. If that fails, use the returns route rather than adapting the slide.
