Bosch multi tool buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You already own a Bosch drill, or you do not, and the amazon.co.uk results still look like six prices for one oscillating cutter. A Bosch multi tool buying guide starts with the battery on your shelf, because five of these listings are bodies and only one is a corded set. The [Bosch multi tool comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/bosch-multi-tool) holds the six rows. This page is the order of questions: platform, box, blade lock, then the figures you should not trust. Prices are the 22 October 2026 amazon.co.uk lines. Peter F. did not lab-test these tools. Start with the batteries you already own

Bosch sells more than one 18 V battery, and the number on the pack does not make them the same. Green 18 V is the POWER FOR ALL family used on Bosch DIY tools. Blue 18 V is the Professional family, which Bosch also sells under AMPShare. Bosch's AMPShare page says those blue packs work with Bosch Professional 18 V batteries back to 2008, and that AMPShare does not work with POWER FOR ALL. A green pack from a DIY drill will not run a blue GOP, and a blue pack will not run the AdvancedMulti or the UniversalMulti. None of the six amazon listings prints those family names. The GOP 12V-28 is a third platform, Professional 12 V, not a green 12 V drill pack. If you have no Bosch packs and the cut is beside a socket, the PMF 220 CE set needs no second purchase. That case is on the cordless or corded Bosch multi tool page.

Then read what is in the box

A body price is the price of the tool without the pack and the charger. The AdvancedMulti is without battery, in a carton, at about £71.94, model 0603104000, 4.6 from 191 reviews, with a four-stage depth stop, an AIZ 32 EPC, an anti-vibration handle, delta sheets and a 180° LED band in the bullets. The UniversalMulti is without battery at about £76.98, model 0603105000, 4.4 from 218, with a segment blade, a plunge blade, a delta plate and a four-stage depth stop. The three blue bodies are thinner. None of their included lists names a depth stop or a sanding plate. The PMF 220 CE set is about £103.95, with 220 W and a case that includes blades, a depth stop and dust extraction. Who should skip each row is on the best Bosch multi tool page.

How the blade comes off

All six listings sit in the Starlock family. That does not mean the lock is the same, and it does not mean an old OIS blade from a previous multi-tool will fit. AutoClic, on the AdvancedMulti bullets, is described as tool-free and about three seconds. MagnetHold, on the UniversalMulti and the PMF, is named beside an Allen key or a hex key, and neither listing says the change is tool-free. Snap-in, on the GOP 18V-34 and the GOP 18V-30, is the lever, and UK reviews say a hot blade drops clear. The GOP 12V-28 bullets do not claim Snap-in. UK reviews of that ASIN say you need an Allen key. StarlockPlus is claimed on the two blue 18 V bodies. StarlockMax is not claimed on any of these six.

Figures on the listing that conflict

Two cells in this set will mislead you if you quote them as the motor. On the GOP 12V-28 the title states 5,000–20,000 min-1. The maximum rotational speed cell says 1 RPM. That figure is a conflict, not the speed of the tool. A cell that says two batteries conflicts with the title. Buy the title's offer: a body, one blade, an L-BOXX, and no pack. On the GOP 18V-30 the bullets say vibration of 3 m/s² and a net weight under 1 kg. The weight cell prints 3.2 kg, and a wattage cell prints 18 watts, which is not a motor wattage to set against the PMF's 220 W. Bosch's UK page prints 3 m/s² (K 1.5) for a plunge blade and 8.6 m/s² (K 2.9) for a segment blade, so 3 m/s² is not every accessory.

Common questions

Do any of these six include a battery?
No. The five cordless listings are bodies: without battery, solo, or a title that says without battery and charger. Only the corded PMF 220 CE set runs without a pack, because the bullets state a 220 W motor from the mains.
Will my green 18 V pack run a blue GOP?
No. Green 18 V is POWER FOR ALL. Blue 18 V is Professional and AMPShare. Bosch says AMPShare does not work with POWER FOR ALL. The AdvancedMulti and the UniversalMulti are the green bodies in this set. The GOP 18V-34 and the GOP 18V-30 are the blue 18 V bodies. Matching the voltage number and ignoring the colour is how a cheaper body becomes an expensive mistake.
Is the 12 V Professional tool the same battery as a green 12 V drill?
No. The GOP 12V-28 is Bosch Professional 12 V. Reviews describe it sharing batteries with other blue 12 V tools. A green 12 V DIY pack is a separate platform. If you do not already own a Professional 12 V pack and charger, the about £111.10 title is not a tool that runs, however large the review count is.
Which listings include a depth stop and a sanding plate?
The AdvancedMulti, the UniversalMulti and the PMF 220 CE set include a four-stage depth stop. The UniversalMulti and the PMF also include a delta sanding plate. The three blue bodies do not name a depth stop or a sanding plate.
What does solo mean on the GOP 18V-34?
Solo means the body is sold without a battery. This listing includes the GOP 18V-34, one StarlockPlus PAIZ 32 APB blade and an L-BOXX 136, at about £164.98. Bosch's UK shop showed about £207.12 including VAT for the same order. That is a different shop, and it still does not put a pack in the amazon carton. Read the 4.8 from 683 after you know you already own a blue 18 V pack.
